After instructing Ellie to get back, Huo Yuhao called his mother softly and started shaking her a bit.
"Mom, wake up. We are at our first stop." He kept calling her until she finally woke up.
Huo Yun'er opened her beautiful icy blue eyes, gazed at her son, and thought, 'Ah, I see Yuhao's face first thing in the morning, what a beautiful sight to wake up to.' Yun'er nodded to herself in her mind.
She moved her gaze towards the carriage window and watched the bustling town full of activity. Merchants who rested in the town started to continue their journey. Stall owners would show the items that they sold to the walking pedestrians.
The atmosphere was full of life and harmony. It had been a long time for Huo Yun'er since she watched such a peaceful scene.
Yuhao saw his mother staring through the window in a daze. He sighed as he handed her a wet towel that he made using his [Thread manipulation] and poured some water on it from the water canteen. "Mom, wipe your face with this and get ready. We will walk around for a bit and buy some food before we continue our journey towards [Heavenly Soul Capital City]."
Huo Yun'er returned her gaze towards Yuhao and saw him handing her a damp towel. She took it from his little hand and started wiping her face.
'It is different now. I will live a peaceful life with Yuhao. I will watch him grow up healthy and become a powerful soul master in the future, and I also need to get more powerful for Yuhao.' She thought to herself as she put the damp cloth beside her and then grabbed Yuhao's hands.
"Alright Hao'er, this is your first time here in a town outside the [White Tiger Mansion], be sure to grab my hand tightly, okay? I don't want you to get lost," she instructed Yuhao as they got out of the carriage.
Yuhao breathed in the warm morning air and started looking around. This was truly his first time walking outside in this new world. He was simply curious about everything here.
Noticing his eager and curious expression, Yun'er giggled a bit and started guiding him towards the town.
She herself didn't know much about the town, but she was willing to put in the effort to give her son an unforgettable experience after the escape from the prison that they used to live in.
Before they got far away from the carriage, Yuhao used [Illusion manipulation] and manipulated the illusion that he had cast on the carriage driver at the beginning of the journey. He simply instructed him to buy whatever was necessary for the road and prepare to continue the journey.
Yun'er was unaware of this. She was simply zooming from one stall to another and sharing with Yuhao what she knew about the things they saw.

A few moments went by, and the peaceful atmosphere was broken by the waiter's knock on the booth. The food that they ordered was finally served. They hadn't eaten a real meal in quite a long time, so both Huo Yun'er and Yuhao started devouring the food like there was no tomorrow.
'The food here is amazing, it makes me wonder what the food in [Food Wars] world and [Toriko] world would taste like. Maybe in the future,' Yuhao thought as he could already see himself ascending without regrets after tasting the food from these two worlds.
They lazed around in the booth after the big meal and ordered desserts because there is always room for dessert no matter how full you are.
They spent the whole morning in this manner, and it was quite a breath of fresh air.
Hours went by, and the carriage driver finished preparing everything, and they were ready to get back on the road. Although Huo Yun'er wanted to stay for a bit longer as she felt like Yuhao did not get to see the whole town.
Seeing her reluctant look, Yuhao simply suggested, "Don't worry, mom. We can come back here in the future, but we have to hurry up so we can reach [Heavenly Soul Capital City] before it gets dark."
Hearing her son's plea, she abandoned the thought of staying without a second thought and arrived near him.
"You are right, Hao'er. It is just a pity that there is no one here who can awaken martial souls, but it makes sense. This is a trade route used by merchants; it is not a place suitable for holding a spirit awakening ceremony in a small town like this," replied Yun'er.
"Let's go. Maybe we can find someone to awaken your martial soul at the next stop," she added as she got onto the carriage.
Yuhao simply shook his head and climbed onto the carriage. He sat beside his mother and gazed out the window to take a final look at this town.
'One day, I will have the peaceful life that I want. But not right now,' Yuhao thought to himself as he cast an illusion on the carriage so that it was ignored by the people on their journey.
After all, Yuhao was aware of the cliché that happened when traveling by carriage. Bandits would attack these defenseless carriages to steal their valuable items and kill the people involved. He simply avoided all that trouble by using illusions.
Yuhao yawned a little as he rubbed his sleepy blue eyes with the back of his hand. Seeing this, Yun'er smiled and tapped her lap as she looked at him with eager eyes.
"Come here, Yuhao. We ate a lot and walked a lot; take a nap and I will wake you up when we reach the second stop," his mother told him in a tone that would take 'no' for an answer.
Seeing this, Yuhao just lay in her lap, hugged her waist, and smelled her scent as he drifted to sleep.
'Man, nothing beats taking a nap in the morning. It reminds me of the snow days when school was cancelled. I remember me and dad would just eat cereal, watch TV, and take a nap on the couch while the sound of the snow kept ticking the windows,' he mumbled in his mind as he fell asleep.
Hours went by, and it was already afternoon, and they should be nearing the second stop. Only this time, things were different.
Huo Yuhao instantly woke up as he felt a disgusting aura. He, who inherited the [Corrupt Light] element, was disgusted by such an aura.
'This is definitely the aura of an evil soul master. While I may have not met any evil soul masters yet, my element [Corrupt Light] can identify them. After all, before it became the [Corrupt Light], it was the purest [Light] element to ever exist in Alarion's universe,' Huo Yuhao reasoned to himself as he looked outside the carriage window.
'This filthy aura, it is filled with an unpleasant scent,' he identified the source and locked onto it.
He thought about his plan of action.
'I don't know the opponent's strength, so I can't be careless.' He was extremely cautious when it came to fighting.
Sure, he had a divine dragon martial soul that could annihilate evil attribute beings with ease. But just because he was OP didn't mean that he would fight recklessly. It was actually the opposite; he had the advantage, and he wanted to achieve overwhelming victory without giving the opponent a chance to retaliate.
That is the path of the strong. If he charged recklessly and his opponent was an evil Titled Douluo, what would be the outcome? Sure, he would be unscathed because of [Corrupt Light], but what about Huo Yun'er? She would be endangered during the fight, and that was a risk Yuhao was not willing to take at all.
'Those who have someone to lose are not weak. It is the opposite; they grow stronger for the both of them,' he remembered Alarion's words.
Alarion grew stronger than anyone as he had not only someone to protect but his entire universe. That pressure is what made him the [White Dragon of Nihility].
Yuhao took a deep breath. He cast an illusion inside the carriage, so even if his mother woke up, she would find him still sleeping on her lap. He jumped out of the window, flipped his body mid-air, and landed on top of the carriage. He lay on his stomach, created a pair of high-tech binoculars using nanobots, and used them to observe the situation.
What he saw truly disgusted him. A team consisting of 5 soul elders (4 rings), three soul kings (5 rings), and one soul emperor (6 rings) were devouring the corpses of dead people who were most likely killed by the team that emitted that filthy disgusting aura.
He disintegrated his binoculars and created a long nanotech sniper. While he was in the legacy space, his control over his class increased, allowing him to break through [Nanotech Engineering Tier 2] and [Nanotech Engineering Tier 3]. He could have achieved more, but the inheritance of the blood essence, the [Corrupt Light], and combat training with Alarion delayed him a bit.
[Nanotech Engineering Tier 1] allowed him to create simple weapons with added attributes like daggers that increase speed when equipped and so on. [Nanotech Engineering Tier 2] allowed him to create some artillery weapons like energy cannons, mini-guns, and so on. [Nanotech Engineering Tier 3] allowed him to create higher-damage artillery weapons and some small vehicles like motorcycles, mini rail-guns, and so on. Nanotech energy sniper falls in [Nanotech Engineering Tier 3].
Instead of normal bullets, he used his [Corrupt Light] and manipulated it into the shape of a bullet and inserted it into the sniper. He focused on this group of beasts, breathed deeply, and finally pressed the trigger.
*Bang* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang*
He fired nine times, and nine silent bullets easily annihilated the evil soul masters, who died without even knowing how. He made sure that all of them were dead. He used an infra-red visor to see if there were any survivors.
Unfortunately, no one was still alive. He remained silent for a moment and disintegrated the infra-red visor, and made his way into the carriage. He canceled the illusion inside the carriage and instructed the driver to speed up through the second stop. Obviously, they were not going to stop there after the massacre. He sent threads using [Thread manipulation] to bury the corpses and to bring back anything of value to him.
'What a strange world. In the morning, the other town was filled with life and peace. And in another town, in the afternoon of the same day, a massacre occurred because of evil spirit masters,' he sighed as he gazed at the sky.
'I need mother to take the other legacy trial as soon as possible. I want her to be powerful enough to at least protect herself. I don't want her to be a damsel in distress,' Yuhao thought to himself as his gaze fell on his mother.
He kissed her forehead and continued lying in her lap. The threads returned after burying the corpses and getting all the valuable materials in the town. He stored everything in storage-type soul guidance devices and set up a security system around the carriage using threads, illusions, and some light artillery weapons.
'We will arrive at [Heavenly Soul Capital City] earlier than expected, and I am finally awakening my eyes martial soul,' Yuhao wondered as he lay on Yun'er's lap and gazed outside the window.
'I am excited to see what upgrades Ellie made to my original [Spirit Eyes],' he wondered as he instructed [Great Sage] to keep an eye on any irregularities, and he finally fell asleep.
