Training

### Chapter Seven: Training

As the car carrying Yahari's parents disappeared down the road, his grandfather turned to him with a resolute expression. "Yahari, the training begins now."

Without another word, the old man grabbed an axe and beckoned for Yahari to follow him into the forest. The crunch of their footsteps on the forest floor mingled with the symphony of chirping birds and rustling leaves. The air was crisp, filled with the earthy scent of pine and fresh foliage. Occasionally, the distant call of a hawk or the rustle of a small animal moving through the underbrush would break the steady rhythm of their walk.

"Be careful," the grandfather warned as they trekked deeper into the woods. "There are wolves and bears in these parts."

Yahari, who had spent many childhood summers exploring these woods, was surprised by the caution in his grandfather's voice. "Why do you live in such a dangerous place, Grandpa?" he asked.

His grandfather's reply was enigmatic. "I enjoy the solitude, away from the crowded city."

They continued in silence until they reached a massive tree. The grandfather gripped the axe tightly, swung it with a mighty heave, and in one powerful stroke, the tree came crashing down. Birds scattered in all directions, their startled cries echoing through the forest as the ground trembled with the tree's impact. Yahari's eyes widened in amazement, his black hair whipping about in the gust of wind generated by the falling tree.

With the tree now on the ground, his grandfather slung the axe over his shoulder and spoke in a serious tone. "My Quirk enhances my physical strength, but felling a tree of this size in one blow requires rigorous training. This is what you will be doing now."

Yahari stared at the fallen tree, awe-struck. "Do I need to train until I can do the same?"

"No," his grandfather replied, "you need to use your mind and understand your Quirk. Only then will you find the key to developing it. But your muscles are still like rubber. First, we need to make them stronger. I need firewood anyway, so you'll cut this tree into hundreds of pieces and carry them all back to the house."

Feeling the weight of the task, Yahari said, "I'm not sure I can finish this in two days..."

His grandfather turned to him with a calm yet stern expression. "You'll do this in three hours, before lunch."

As panic set in, his grandfather added, "If you fail to cut and carry the wood before lunch, you'll start with another tree after lunch. But if you succeed, we'll move on to the next training."

He handed Yahari the axe and walked away, wishing him luck. Yahari gripped the axe tightly, looking at the tree. "I never knew Grandpa was this strict. Seems I have no other choice."

He began his task, sweat dripping from his brow as he swung the axe repeatedly. The physical exertion was immense, but Yahari pushed through, his determination growing with each strike. He chopped the tree into pieces and painstakingly carried each piece back to the yard in front of the wooden house.

By the time he finished, Yahari was utterly exhausted. He collapsed onto his back, too tired to even stand up for lunch. The grueling challenge had drained every ounce of his energy, but he had completed it.

As he lay there, staring up at the canopy of trees, he realized that this was just the beginning. His grandfather's training would be relentless, but Yahari was determined to rise to the challenge, no matter how tough it got.

As Yahari lay on his back, exhaustion washing over him, he couldn't help but smile. Despite the fatigue, there was a sense of accomplishment. He thought to himself, 'If I keep training like this for nine months, I'll become a completely different person.'

The rustling of leaves and the chirping of birds faded as Yahari blinked his eyes open, finding himself back in the bustling school environment. The familiar sounds of chattering students and slamming lockers filled the air, a stark contrast to the serene forest he had just left behind. The transition from the tranquility of nature to the energetic school life was seamless yet jarring.

Yawning, Yahari sat at his desk, feeling the weight of his exhaustion. His eyelids were heavy, and he struggled to stay awake. The classroom was alive with the usual morning hustle as students filed in, taking their seats.

"Looks like the hard work has started early," a familiar voice said, pulling him out of his drowsiness. Hina, with her light blue hair and ocean-blue eyes, stood beside him, smiling before she sat down.

"But I didn't tell you," Yahari responded, slightly puzzled.

Hina chuckled, "Do you think I need you to tell me? It's obvious from your face. Just make sure you don't overwork yourself to death."

"Don't worry, I'm too much of a coward to walk towards death willingly," Yahari replied with a smirk.

Hina raised an eyebrow, finding his statement odd. She knew Yahari well enough to realize that he was the kind of person who would sacrifice himself without a second thought to save a person or even an animal.
