In this scene, the enemies only appeared briefly, a fleeting glimpse.
However, these few short shots caused all three of them, whether it was Tony Stark as Iron Man or the director and agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., to furrow their brows.
The enemies looked strange, definitely not like humans.
"Are those the Chitauri I fought against? Why do they look like that?" Tony Stark couldn't help but ask, "Are they wearing some kind of strange armor?"
"It doesn't seem like armor. I think they might have undergone some kind of mutation, similar to the Hulk," Natasha Romanoff expressed a different opinion from Tony Stark.
Considering their respective identities, both of them could be considered well-informed and knowledgeable about things that ordinary people didn't know.
But regardless, their speculations didn't extend to the idea of extraterrestrial beings.
"Could they be aliens?" The only one who made that connection was Nick Fury. After all, he had personally witnessed aliens, and his one eye was blinded during that incident.
"The nuclear bomb has been launched. Detonation in two minutes and thirty seconds. Over." The video continued, showing a nuclear bomb trailing a long white smoke as it was launched.
Then the scene shifted to a battle scene, where a person wearing a star-spangled suit and carrying a shield was fighting alongside another person with a red cape and a hammer against the Chitauri.
The person with the shield was familiar to everyone, with a face identical to Captain America's face from the museum. It was undoubtedly Captain America himself.
What surprised people was the guy with the hammer. With a single swing, he could send cars flying. His strength seemed greater than that of Captain America, the super-soldier.
"The one with the shield is Captain America. I never expected a dead man to be back on the battlefield," Tony Stark's gaze fell on the person with the hammer. "And this person with the hammer should be the Thor mentioned in the options, right? A mythical character appearing in New York, fighting alongside a dead man. Am I the only one who finds this absurd?"
Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff, appeared in the scene, holding the Scepter, and said, "I can close it! Can anyone hear me? I can close the portal!"
A dirt-covered Captain America, Steve Rogers, quickly said, "Close it now!"
"No, wait!" Tony Stark's voice came through.
"Stark, the enemies are multiplying," Steve Rogers said.
"I have a nuclear missile here. It will detonate in one minute," Tony Stark flew in the air and quickly caught up to the missile, shouldering it. "I know where to send it."
"Stark, this could be a one-way trip for you," Steve Rogers reminded him.
"Use all the energy to change course, J.A.R.V.I.S.," Tony Stark ignored Steve Rogers and continued flying with the missile.
"Sir, would you like to contact Miss Potts?" J.A.R.V.I.S. asked.
"Go ahead," Tony Stark hesitated for a moment and decided to make the call.
"The streets of New York have turned into a battlefield. The military has arrived and is trying to gain control, but obviously, they are no match," the voice on the other end of the line informed him.
"I have to say, in my career, I have never seen anything like this."
"We don't know much about this response team, but we recognized Iron Man, billionaire Tony Stark."
At this time, Pepper Potts, also known as "Pepper," was sitting on a plane, looking worriedly at the reports of the battle in New York, completely unaware of Tony Stark's call.
As Tony Stark flew with the nuclear bomb on his back, the camera angle switched multiple times. Captain America and Thor looked up at the sky, while the Hulk, emerging from the rubble, also glanced upward. Nick Fury, Agent Hill, and others who were not present on the scene were also following the events through the network.
It can be said that at this moment, the entire New York was focused on Tony Stark.
With just a few simple shots, the aura of a self-sacrificing hero was vividly portrayed.
"The wind rustles, and the water is cold. The valiant one departs, never to return." These lines from a poem emerged in Li Cheng's mind.
Of course, Tony Stark's departure was not truly a departure without return. However, at that moment, Tony Stark was unaware of this fact. In his mind, he had already made the determination of "no return."
At this moment, Tony Stark truly lived up to the title of a "hero."
"Stark, I never thought you would make this choice," Natasha Romanoff shifted her gaze from the screen to Tony Stark, who was watching the video beside her, shocked beyond words.
Just before entering the answering space, she asserted that Tony Stark would never sacrifice himself for others. But in an instant, she saw him shouldering a nuclear bomb!
"Stark, I knew I didn't misjudge you. Bringing you into the Avengers was the right choice!" Nick Fury couldn't help but smile. The footage on the screen confirmed that he had made the right decision.
"So, this response team is the Avengers? Sounds like some boys' group," Tony Stark shrugged, wearing a carefree expression.
But deep down, his heart was filled with awe.
He could never have imagined that he would make such a choice.
In the minds of the few, Tony Stark in the footage was already flying into the portal, entering the dark and vast universe.
Compared to this vast universe, humanity appeared so tiny.
"Sir, the call to Pepper failed," J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice sounded, and Tony Stark let go. The nuclear bomb flew towards the massive entity suspended in the void—the Chitauri mother ship. As for himself, he had depleted his energy and was unable to fly, plummeting downward.
After the bomb hit the mother ship, a massive explosion occurred. In the dazzling blaze, the mother ship was reduced to debris.
As the mother ship exploded, the Chitauri soldiers on the ground fell one by one, and even the ships flying in the air like fish crashed to the ground.
They had won this war!
Although the onlookers only witnessed the end of the battle and knew nothing about what happened before, they deeply felt the difficulty of this fight.
"You did it, Stark," Nick Fury outside the video couldn't help but applaud. "You were right just now. It's just another cliché story of superheroes saving the world. But I want to cheer for this old-fashioned tale."
"You're not really going to die, are you?" Natasha Romanoff stared at the screen and said, "Your suit clearly has no power. How are you going to land?"
"Haven't you watched movies?" Tony Stark said, "Those people who save the world in movies only have one outcome—they get the girl in the end." He looked at Natasha Romanoff. "I can give you a chance to be that girl."

"Close it," Steve Rogers commanded.
Natasha Romanoff used her staff to poke the energy column that connected to the portal, shutting it down. The airborne portal was closed, and Tony Stark's iron-clad body plummeted straight down.
"How am I going to land?" Tony Stark stared intently at the video, wanting to know his fate. "Did I crash to death?"
Two Natasha Romanoffs, whether in the video or outside of it, were both fixated on the red figure descending from the sky.
Everyone was focused on whether Tony Stark had successfully landed after his feat of carrying the nuclear bomb.
However, the screen went black, and the video ended there.
The red armor descended from the sky, the final image.
Nick Fury: "..."
Tony Stark: "..."
Natasha Romanoff: "..."
The question setter is truly despicable! Just at the crucial moment, they stopped showing it!
Did he survive or not?!
"I finally understand why the question setter doesn't show up," Tony Stark said with extreme exasperation after a long while. "They must be afraid of getting beaten up by me!"
"Stark, you don't have to worry. As you said, no hero who saves the world in movies ever dies," Nick Fury also had an urge to shoot him, "and neither will you."
"If this Thor truly possesses the power of the mythical legends, then flying should be a piece of cake for him," Natasha Romanoff said, "so he should be able to fly and save Stark in mid-air."
"Whether I died or not in that last scene doesn't matter," Tony Stark rare serious expression. "What's important is that I had foreknowledge of this future, so I can prepare in advance and avoid this situation."
"Stark is right. Knowing the future in advance is more important than the future itself," Nick Fury scanned both of them with his one eye. "This video doesn't have any time markers, but whether it's Stark or Romanoff, your appearances are almost identical to the present, with no noticeable changes."
"Which means the time when this future event occurs won't be too far off," Natasha Romanoff continued Nick Fury's words. "The Chitauri invasion of New York is likely to happen within a few years."
"The armor I'm wearing in the video is exactly the same as this one, Mark 7," Tony Stark pointed to the armor displayed nearby. "I've only just finished making Mark 3. Given my research capabilities, it would take about... two to three years to go from Mark 3 to Mark 7." Tony Stark paused for a moment and added, "approximately."
"Such a short time?" Nick Fury, who could maintain a calm expression no matter the situation, couldn't help but change his face. "In two or three years, New York will be attacked by aliens?"
If someone had mentioned an alien invasion of Earth under normal circumstances, Tony Stark would have used his unparalleled sarcasm to verbally annihilate them. But now, he asked with great seriousness, "Egghead, do aliens really exist?"
"They do," Nick Fury remained silent for two seconds and nodded. "More than a decade ago, before I became the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., aliens descended upon Earth. I lost one of my eyes during that time."
"Aliens are actually real!" Tony Stark was shocked in his heart, and he became even more convinced that the video he just saw was a glimpse into the future.
"Fury, is Captain America really dead?" Natasha Romanoff also asked. "You saw it too, he fought alongside us two or three years from now."
"According to history, Captain America chose to crash the plane into the sea to prevent it from flying into New York..." Nick Fury said.
"So, nobody has seen his body?" Tony Stark interjected.
"Correct, his body was never found," Nick Fury replied.
"Captain America isn't an ordinary person; he's a super soldier injected with a serum. So even after almost seventy years, there's still a possibility that he survived," Natasha Romanoff said.
"Peggy Carter is still alive. I'll pay her a visit," Nick Fury said. "If anyone in this world knows Captain's whereabouts, it's her."
"The hundred-year-old veteran Captain America still has a lead to follow, but what about Thor?" Tony Stark looked at Nick Fury's bald head and resisted the urge to make a sarcastic comment. "He's a character from mythology. How do we find him?"
"Do I look like Odin to you?" Nick Fury retorted irritably. "How would I know where to find his son?"
"You do have a resemblance, at least if Odin looks like the one from mythology," Tony Stark said. "But I think you're only similar in terms of appearance. I mean, unless Odin is also an egghead."
"Could you please stop mentioning the word 'egghead'?" Nick Fury's veins bulged with anger. Tony Stark was as much of a genius as he was a sharp-tongued individual, and it was a constant struggle to interact with him without raising one's blood pressure.
"As for Thor, since we have no leads, let's put that aside for now. What about Bruce Banner?" Thankfully, Natasha Romanoff intervened in time, preventing Nick Fury from transforming into a furious parent.
"I've been keeping tabs on the big guy's whereabouts," Nick Fury said after thinking for a moment. "But I don't think it's necessary to disturb him right now. He's calm, which is good for him, especially in this society. I'll send someone to contact him when the Chitauri are about to arrive."
[The second question begins. Please be prepared.]
[After being stabbed and escaping from Alexander Pierce's men
, where did Director Nick Fury hide?]
[A) Hawkeye Clint Barton]
[B) Iron Man Tony Stark]
[C) Captain America Steve Rogers]
[D) Black Widow Natasha Romanoff]
[The answer to this question is correct, and you will be rewarded with a Green Goblin skateboard. Answering incorrectly will result in a deduction of one year of lifespan.]
"Egghead, is it because your head has offended too many people?" Tony Stark immediately spoke up after reading the question. "Although it sounds absurd, maybe you were assassinated because someone didn't like your egghead. You know, there are so many people who love eating boiled eggs, and once they think of your head, they lose their appetite..."
"Shut up, Stark. This isn't Chinatown, and not everyone is obsessed with boiled eggs," Nick Fury suppressed the urge to shoot this guy and said, "I've been targeted for assassination many times in the past, but I've never sought refuge at someone's house. So, just like the previous question, this should be a future segment, an assassination that hasn't taken place yet."
"Alexander Pierce, that name sounds familiar. Where have I heard it before?" Tony Stark felt that the name was familiar but couldn't recall who it was for the moment.
