Chapter 71: Wild Champa Appear!!!
He already knows the Ki of Gods of Destruction Champa, and it couldn't have been more evident with the presence of his sister, Vados.
Among the twelve universes, the sixth universe bears an uncanny resemblance to the seventh universe.
"Ah! What just happened? Did we experience an earthquake?" Krillin wondered aloud, rubbing his head. A small bump had formed on his bald pate where he had been struck.
This sight didn't surprise Goten in the least. Moments ago, he'd felt the unmistakable presence of two formidable auras, one akin to Gods of Destruction Beerus, and the other bearing a striking resemblance to Whis.
It was obvious – Gods of Destruction Champa and Angel Vados from the sixth universe had unexpectedly descended upon Beerus' planet.
In the Dragon Ball Super, only these two had visited the realm of the seventh universe's Gods of Destruction. No others had set foot here.
...
"So, what's happening here?" Krillin inquired, perplexed. "Why aren't you two saying anything? Didn't you both feel the tremor just now?"
At that very moment, Beerus' voice, filled with anger, rang out. "Whis, what the heck are you up to, you scoundrel?" His irate exclamation was followed by a resounding explosion.
Rumble!
The temple had been breached, and Beerus, still in his light blue pajamas, was blown out of it. He was clearly not yet fully awake, scanning his surroundings with a drowsy look. His gaze swiftly locked onto the source of the familiar aura he had detected just outside the door.
The smell was as irritating as ever. Beerus, relying on his momentum, pushed his way through the gate, which had been blasted open by an energy wave, nearly sending Champa tumbling.
Fortunately, Champa's agility saved him from this mishap, but his face darkened from the energy wave's impact.
"Hey, you bony fellow! Are you really trying to kill me? That's going a bit too far!" Champa spat out his frustration at Beerus.
Despite their usual disagreements, they were still blood-related brothers. "He didn't expect this guy to cause such a ruckus as soon as they met, nearly sending his brother packing."
Unacceptable.
"Ah?! Who are you?" Beerus scratched his nose, eyeing the disgruntled Gods of Destruction Champa.
"Jerk, I'm Champa," Champa said, struggling to suppress his anger.
Although he appeared proud at the moment, he thought, 'Just wait; I'll make him experience true despair soon. This time, I've brought my secret weapon – the most exquisite delicacy from the sixth universe. Once Beerus tastes it, he'll be at a loss for words.'
After thinking this, most of the anger in his heart faded. "Oh! So, you're Champa. Why the face? And why leave your sixth universe to visit my seventh universe?" Beerus asked, his expression cold.
Though they were brothers, they had a history of disagreements that spanned millions of years. Back then, disagreements led to battles. Since Master Zeno had prohibited conflicts among Gods of Destruction, they had never fought again.
Their rivalries had transformed into competitions centered around culinary delights, as both were renowned food enthusiasts.
Champa let out a sinister chuckle, then declared proudly, "The purpose of my visit is to let you savor the true gourmet cuisine of our sixth universe! I want you to realize that our sixth universe is the true kingdom of gourmet delights."
"Tsk!!" Beerus shot Champa a dismissive glance.
In previous gourmet competitions, the sixth and seventh universes were neck and neck. Their similarity in universe structure and planet distribution led to similarities in cuisine. However, now Beerus had discovered Earth, a true gourmet paradise. With this newfound knowledge, he was supremely confident in food competitions.
"Quit your laughing, Champa!" Beerus retorted. "What kind of delicacies can you possibly have in your sixth universe? But since you're here, I'll let you taste the delights of our seventh universe!" With that, Beerus turned and headed back to the temple, closely followed by Gods of Destruction Champa and Angel Vados.
...
After witnessing Gods of Destruction Champa and Angel Vados, Krillin's face lit up with amazement. "Why does that guy look so much like Lord Beerus? And the woman next to him, her appearance and attire are 70% similar to Whis. Goten, do you know anything about their relationship?" Krillin asked Goten in a hushed tone.
Although Goten hadn't traveled much beyond Earth, he always seemed to have a wealth of knowledge. It was as if he had an in-depth understanding of figures like Gods of Destruction and Angels.
"It appears the chubby guy is Lord Beerus' brother. As for the girl who resembles Whis, she's likely his sister. Perhaps they are Gods of Destruction and Angels from other universes," Goten speculated. He spoke cautiously to avoid arousing Whis' suspicion.
"Hoo! Goten, your guess is spot on. The Lord Beerus look-alike is indeed Gods of Destruction Champa from the sixth universe. And the lady behind him is an Angel, my sister, Vados," Whis confirmed, his own surprise apparent. He decided to explain the situation to Goten and Krillin, as they were his apprentices, and there was no need to conceal this well-known relationship from them.
"Sixth Universe Gods of Destruction?" Krillin had a bewildered expression. The concept of multiple universes was foreign to him. "I always thought there was only one universe, with Gods of Destruction Beerus as the most powerful being. I didn't expect there to be a brother of Beerus, who's also a Gods of Destruction, and that too, of the sixth universe. This is completely beyond my expectations."
In the meantime, Goten turned his attention to Vados. She was dressed in the same manner as in Dragon Ball Super, donning a dark green and black Angel uniform while holding an Angel staff. Her expression was aloof and confident, with a long silver ponytail, nearly perfect facial features, and a well-proportioned figure. Goten couldn't help but think, 'I have to admit, Vados looks quite stunning.' The only downside was that Goten couldn't appreciate her light blue complexion. As Goten admired Vados, she and Champa had already approached them.
"Long time no see, sister!" Whis greeted Vados with politeness, recognizing her as his own sister. Among the many Angels, they shared the closest bond.
Vados responded with a sweet smile. "Long time no see, Whis." After the exchange, she curiously gazed at Goten and Krillin beside her.
...
Vados inquired, "Have Lord Beerus accepted these two mortal apprentices? Or are they selected as candidates for the Seventh Universe's Gods of Destruction?" She curiously observed Goten and Krillin, the bald-headed one seemingly unremarkable, while the other exuded a hidden power. She thought, 'There's something strangely familiar about him...'.
Though surprised, Vados quickly pieced it together. If these two were receiving training in the Gods of Destruction world, it was likely under Whis's tutelage. She was well-acquainted with Lord Beerus, renowned for his laziness that even rivaled Champa's. In fact, he was even lazier than Champa, almost like a hands-off shopkeeper. That familiarity in their presence wasn't unexpected.
"Yes, that's right!" Whis affirmed. "Both of them are Lord Beerus's disciples. If they perform well, they could become candidates for his position." He didn't hold back, offering a direct response.
...
In other many universes, Gods of Destruction were already on the lookout for their successors, so this revelation wasn't particularly secretive.
Vados smiled as she gazed at Goten. "Very good!"
Meanwhile, Champa couldn't resist taunting. "Is Beerus so senile that he selected these two fools as his candidates? I doubt they have any real power." He chuckled as he observed Goten and Krillin, who were moving slowly in their weighted suits.
Champa thought, "I can't believe Beerus is going to such lengths! Choosing these two as candidates for the Universe's Gods of Destruction."
Vados offered a gentle reminder to Champa, "Lord Champa, don't judge people by their appearances. Our candidates for the Gods of Destruction of the sixth universe might not be better than them."
She thought, 'That little guy with the hedgehog hairstyle has the potential to achieve great things in the future...'
Goten paid no heed to Champa's taunts. 'He's a God of Destruction, after all, and Beerus' blood brother. While they may bicker a lot, the bond between brothers is strong. It's best not to cross paths with a God of Destruction unless absolutely necessary, especially Champa. If he wants to poke fun at us, let him have his fun. It won't hurt.'
A few minutes later, they reached the temple's hall, and the scene resembled events from Dragon Ball Super. Champa began showcasing the sixth universe's gourmet egg, only to be outdone by Beerus and a bucket of instant noodles. Then Champa challenged Beerus, "Hey, Beerus, are you up for a competition? If I win, the Earth from your seventh universe becomes part of our sixth universe. If you lose, I'll hand over the six Super Dragon Balls I've collected."
Champa considered the prospect of Earth as his own. 'If I can claim the seventh universe's Earth, we'll feast on the finest food every day.'
Beerus scoffed, "Stop spouting nonsense, you fat slob! You need all seven Super Dragon Balls to make a wish; your six aren't enough. And do you really think you can compete with me?" He dismissed the challenge with a disdainful look.
Beerus didn't take Champa's provocations seriously. The Super Dragon Balls weren't of interest to him, and he wasn't about to part with Earth, even for a few useless stones.
Champa, undeterred, pressed on. "Tsk! You're a complete coward, Beerus. You won't dare to compete with the sixth universe at all."
The Gods of Destruction's gaze hardened at being called a coward. "Your aggressive approach is incredibly inelegant. If you've nothing else to discuss, return to your sixth universe!"
Champa was unapologetic and shameless. "If you give up now and hand over Earth, I'll leave."
Beerus' expression shifted, but he found nothing wrong with Champa's audacity. After all, when it came to food, dignity took a backseat. Moreover, Champa was known as a scoundrel, so his behavior wasn't surprising.
Beerus understood that private fights between Gods of Destruction were forbidden. Such battles would lead to the annihilation of both universes, a responsibility and consequence they couldn't bear.
Reluctantly, Beerus proposed, "Alright, let's discuss this further. How about a competition?"
In truth, despite their squabbles, Beerus did care about his often-exasperating brother.
Champa agreed. "It's simple. Since we can't fight directly as Gods of Destruction, this time, it won't be us battling. Instead, we'll each select five contestants from our respective universes. The bet remains the Earth and the Super Dragon Balls I mentioned earlier."
Champa looked at Goten and Krillin nearby with a confident smirk. He assumed that, since those weaklinks were Beerus' apprentice, its mortal fighters mustn't be formidable. Thus, this competition would be a cakewalk.
Beerus, on the other hand, wasn't well-informed about the Sixth Universe and its mortal inhabitants. He was unsure about their strength. However, when he glanced at Goten, he felt reassured. Goten possessed a fraction of his power, and Whis's training had made him even stronger.
He couldn't fathom mortals in the Sixth Universe who could match Goten's might. With Goten on their side, the Seventh Universe had a solid chance of winning.
Beerus turned to Goten and asked, "Goten, would you be willing to represent the Seventh Universe in this competition? Are you up for it?"
Goten responded with calm determination, "Since this competition determines Earth's fate, it concerns me. I'll participate in the game."
Taking Earth as a bet wasn't his preference, but he recognized that he couldn't prevent the conflict between the Gods of Destruction.
In such a scenario, joining the competition was the best course of action. Perhaps he might even acquire new skills by defeating the Sixth Universe's contenders.
