Bab 49: Chapter 49 – Returning to the city

The low-level storage pouch which Curt created is already enough to make Melissa speechless and her dainty jaw almost fell to the ground. But soon was able to recover from her stupor upon noticing Curt walking to the head and then touching it before it vanished.
After chaining the arrays and connecting the gems, Curt was able to create a space that is around 200 square meters. But the problem with this kind of space is that it is not secured and not that convenient to use as you have to touch things first before you can store them. Plus, anyone could use it as long as they are able to wield and control LEP energy in their body.
But of course, the space in the pouch is already enough to compensate for those flaws.
As she receives the pouch, Melissa could not help herself but jump in joy as if she just received a very precious gift. She suddenly hugged Curt and then gave him a slight peck on his cheek.
Then as if nothing has happened, she carefully checked the pouch and then uses her consciousness to check the space inside. Seeing that there is more space that can fit in there she shifted her gaze to those precious gems.
"Go on, you can have them…" Curt said as he checked the cave carefully.
While he busies himself harvesting some of the plants growing on the side, Melissa did not hesitate to grab handfuls after handfuls of gems. As a woman, she was really attracted to these glittering things and began imagining to whom she would gift some of those gems.
Of course, she still has to report it to the government.
The two left the cave with a contented smile on their faces as their harvest are satisfying enough. Curt even found some cores from those recently deceases beast and some precious parts that could be turned into useful items.
As they reached near the small town, Curt stopped.
"For now, I think you have to keep that pouch a secret. After this, I will try to make many and sell them to the mercenaries. That way, the pouch on you would be safe.�� Curt said while patting her shoulder.
"You mean you can make more?" she said with a slight surprise on her face.
"Yeah, but it would not be as spacious as your pouch. I will limit it to maybe one to three cubic meters."
"Really… then… then how would you sell those?"
"Would you like to be my agent?"
"Haha… Alright, it will be my pleasure."
They shook hands and then Melissa takes out the huge carcass and the head from inside the storage pouch. Then they called in for a truck to load the carcass.
When they arrive in the town, everyone was already in turmoil as they run to see the huge harvest of the two. When the large truck drags the huge carcass to the town everyone gaped in disbelief. They did not expect that one of the strongest espers in the country would truly be able to kill such a huge beast.
So now everyone is in awe of Tempest and her strength upon seeing the Flood Dragon.
A huge bidding war suddenly began as mercenaries, businessmen, and the military began bidding for the parts of the huge creature. Of course, Curt did not bother with this mess and just went back to his room.
Upon entering he saw two people inside, Jenny Mae Lee and Alan Kane.
He was a bit startled and remembered that he put Jenny Mae in his room yesterday due to his anxiety and he found himself waking up in Melissa's room.
Seeing the masked man, the two are also surprised. However, when Curt saw the man holding his girlfriend's hands his eyes turned murderous.
Feeling the killing intent and the gaze of the masked man, Alan Kane immediately lets go of Jenny Mae's hand. Jenny Mae also noticed the killing intent and frowns. She didn't know who the masked man is, and why she also had the talisman in her guild side pocket uniform.
So now, she is a bit confused.
"Are you alright now?" a deep voice coming from the mask interrupted the awkward atmosphere.
"Yes, I am… thank you… thank you for… for saving me. I… I heard that it was you who protected me… I mean us." she said but her expression is a bit uncertain.
"There is no need to be formal… I did it because… because I had a friend who requested it." Curt said as an idea pops inside his mind.
"Your friend?" she asked in confusion.
"Yes… He… he is very concerned about you. So when I saw him one time, he asked me that I should protect you as his very important person. I owe him a lot, so I just did what he wanted to…" After saying that, Curt turns around to leave the room.
Before he could go out, Jenny Mae who is in deep thought suddenly lifted her head and asked in a hurry.
"Wait… what… what is your friend's name?"
"Well, he's your boyfriend… Curt." Curt said while giving Alan Kane a warning glare.
After that, he left the room.
Hearing that name, Jenny Mae's feelings became complicated. She didn't know that Curt knew who the famous masked man is. And he would go that far to ask him to protect her. Suddenly she feels guilty in her heart. She has been doing everything she can to slowly end their relationship as she knew that she could never fall in love with him.
She tried… but… but it was all a lie.
How could she hurt him who only did everything just to show her that he loves her?
She could not… she could not hurt him.
But she also could not bring herself to love him. As a friend… maybe… But more than that seems impossible as her heart belongs to someone else already.
In fact, everything was all a mistake. She should not have done that. She should not have used him as someone to practice with.
As her complicated emotion was shown on her face, Alan Kane also felt a bit awkward. He didn't know that she already has a boyfriend. He was a bit surprised, but he felt that she likes him. That was not a lie, so he also feels a complicated emotion in his heart.
But the problem is, her boyfriend knows someone who is very dangerous. So he is a bit hesitant to make a move now.

Before leaving, Curt heard the bad news about the convoys that were ambushed by some armed men. They lost the flower and many soldiers were killed because of that and only a few survived and were rescued.
Hearing that news, Curt and the rest was a bit infuriated. However, the mission is already done and he still has two more flowers inside his ring and the venom and the anti-bodies which the doctor would be able to create a cure for the old general.
After the large carcass was divided into the many buyers, Curt and Melissa received a huge amount of credits before leaving Tup town.
The long military convoy began its journey back to the city.
But the tension on everyone's face is still present. They didn't know if those armed rebel extremists have already given up or not. But if they do, then it's better, but if they didn't then that would be a problem.
As the convoy traversed through the rough road, the silence inside each vehicle was suddenly broken by a series of radio chatter.
"Calling all military personnel and the esper mercenaries. We have an emergency. A large monster horde is spotted coming from the east deep in the mountains. The estimated encounter at the outer walls would be 2 hours. Please, proceed to the city as fast as possible for reinforcement."
The radio announcement was repeated over and over on the radio. This made everyone inside the vehicle feeling a bit of a panic. They knew the danger of the situation. However, if their mission was unsuccessful then they would be worried. But then they were able to get that snake. So they are confident that the old general would be able to be cured and would raise the defensive perimeter of the city to the maximum.
And because of this, the convoy immediately hastens their speed as the vehicle almost flew and didn't even bother with the road.
"Convoy one, you should speedily proceed to the city. We are carrying many wounded here. Good luck…" the commander of the convoy suddenly said.
Convoy one is where Melissa and the leaders of the mercenary group are. Hearing the command, they hesitated for a bit but decided to follow as they knew the importance of their cargo.
"Roger that, convoy command… You too. God speed!"
Then suddenly the third vehicle on the line moves out and then rushes forwards leaving the rest of the vehicles.
Curt on the other hand had a bad premonition in his heart as he watches the military vehicle rushing forward. He didn't know why he felt danger but he is still confident that they would be safe.
30 minutes have passed ever since convoy one went ahead of them.
Suddenly, the convoy heard a loud sound coming from a distance ahead of them.
"Those relentless bastards!" Curt could not help himself but curse.
He did not wait for any command, as he suddenly stood up from his seat. He suddenly walked to the end of the vehicle with many eyes on him feeling a bit curious and puzzled.
"I will go ahead… you guys be careful proceeding in that direction. There are enemies." He said while pointing at the road ahead.
Then he jumps out of the vehicle and like an agile monkey runs up the trees.
Now in a vantage point, he could clearly see a huge creature. But that creature is not a beast but made of plants and trees. It is around 20 meters tall and it looks like a giant gorilla.
What made Curt feel angry is that there is a person on top of that beast-like plant. How could such evil beings that attack other humans could live with themself? He was thoroughly enraged at this time. He didn't know why but knowing the vehicle of his friend being attack made him feel like wanting to kill someone. The blood lust he has experienced in the forest suddenly changes Curt's attitude and looks at that figure atop the plant-like monster.
Seeing the next enemy, Curt takes out his remaining talisman and rune stones and then prepares them for battle.
