Bab 18: Kurenai
The next day, no one woke up Naruto at four o'clock in the morning, and he stirred from his sleep at around seven o'clock.
Despite still feeling sore and tired, the blonde had enjoyed the physical exercises he had done with Guy the previous day, so he decided to do them on his own today.
Before going out, the Uzumaki wanted to eat something, but unfortunately, everything in his fridge had already expired. With a sigh, the blonde left his apartment.
On his way to the outskirts of Konoha, Naruto scooped up a patch of dirt and had his breakfast. One of the many benefits of his Magic is that as long as there any of the Elements he used near him, he will never go hungry. He preferred normal food, but beggars can't be choosers.
After finishing his laps around Konoha, the Uzumaki found a place where he could safely train. He created two Shadow Clones and pointed at one of them. "You are in charge of Chakra Control."
"Got it, boss." The clone replied and created his own Shadow Clones. They immediately got to work by climbing the trees in any way they can.
Naruto pointed at the other clone and gave him an order. "You will be in charge of sparring." Again, the clone created more Shadow Clones, and they all started fighting each other using the Strong Fist style. Every solid hit dispelled them, but the Chakra would return to the clone and he would replace them. Using the clones to fight each other, he would see any mistakes that he did and try to fix them along the way.
During his fight with Guy, the Uzumaki realized just how much he enjoyed fighting. The blonde never had the chance to spar with Zeref since the magician had to use all of his Magic Power to keep his curse at bay.
Mercphobia, the Dragon his father had brought to train him Water Dragon Slayer Magic, taught him only how to use the Magic. The moment the Uzumaki had learned that, the Dragon left while cursing Zeref for scamming and tricking him into teaching the blonde.
After assigning the two tasks to his Shadow Clones, Naruto started practicing his punches and kicks on the poor rocks.
Sometime later, while the Uzumaki was beating an innocent rock, he smelled a familiar scent. Turning around with a bit of dread in his eyes, he saw a beautiful red-eyed brunette staring at him with an evil look. Noticing the pattern, Naruto realized that Kurenai is most likely another one of his teachers. "Oh, no."
"Oh yes," said Kurenai. "I'm not that happy myself, but like it or not, I've been assigned by the Hokage to be your Genjutsu instructor." The brunette explained.
The Uzumaki was slightly scared of the beautiful women after being tormented by her illusions. For a moment, the blonde was thinking of running away, but in the end, he resolved himself that this is something that he needs to learn. Letting out a sigh, he asked. "So, now what?"
Seeing her evil smile, Naruto felt like he wouldn't like her answer. "For now, my dear student, I will not be teaching you any kind of Genjutsu since your Chakra Control is not good enough. What I will be teaching you is how to dispell Genjutsu."
"Hey! My Chakra Control is not that bad!" The blonde protested while pointing at his clones who were sticking themselves on the nearby trees.
"Your Chakra Control is not bad, it's just not sufficient enough to learn Genjutsu. To use Genjutsu, you have to be able to control the Chakra flow of someone's cerebral nervous system, which requires a very delicate and precise Chakra Control. One which you do not have." Kurenai explained to the Uzumaki.
Seeing his downcast look from her explanation she continued. "Look Naruto, when most ninjas start learning how to control their Chakra, they start with very a little amount. Over the years, as they grow and mature, their Chakra amount grows with them, and they learn how to control more and more. You, on the other hand, have a very different starting point. The amount of Chakra that you have now could put Jonin like me to shame. I do not doubt that with the help of your Shadow Clones you will be able to use Genjutsu in the future, but for now, you will learn how to dispell it."
Hearing Kurenai's explanation, the blonde looked happier. Seeing him no longer dejected, the brunette smirked evilly. "Without further ado, let's begin."
After three hours of being tormented by his teacher, Kurenai finally called it quits for the day. The brunette informed Naruto that the Hokage had asked to see him so she brought him alongside her to see Hiruzen.
"So how was training with Kurenai, Naruto?" The old man questioned.
For a moment, he planned on complaining how awful it was, but knowing that the brunette is right next to him, he decided against that. "It was good?"
"Good?" The Hokage asked and looked towards Kurenai, who just shrugged her shoulders with a mischievous look. Deciding to ask her later, Hiruzen got straight to the point. "Naruto, the reason I called you is that tomorrow you and two of your classmates will be assigned to a Jonin instructor. I would kindly request you to not use your Magical abilities while you are with them. You will understand why soon, use only your Ninjutsu for now, okay?"
"Sure old man." The blonde gave him a thumbs up. "Is there anything else?" He questioned.
"No, this would be all for now. You are free to leave." Hiruzen answered with a smile.
"I'll be off then, old man." Naruto waved and scurried away from there, not daring to stay near his beautiful tormentor any longer.
After the blonde left, the Hokage called all the Special Jonin and Jonin that will be assigned to the three-man Genin squads tomorrow. Within a dozen minutes, all of them arrived except one silver-haired Jonin.
"Thank you all for coming at such short notice. Tomorrow you will all be given three freshly graduated Genin. You have all been on such a team before, so you already know the drill. Nine of the Genin have already been distributed, but there are twenty-one more that have not been assigned." Hiruzen told the Jonin.
After a brief discussion, all of the graduates were placed on a team.
"Kurenai, please stay for a bit, and Asuma, go get Kakashi and Guy for me." The Hokage told the two Jonin and allowed the rest to leave.
"Understood, Hokage." A bearded man replied and flickered away.
