(Note: Madison will be referred in the first person more often.)
Cutesy things are the worst; even the thought of being or acting that way is sinful to me. Those who practice the art of seduction and those who act to hide their true nature to deceive others are despicable people I just can't stand. Plus, it's a waste of time to try so hard for a chance at alluring someone when you could spend that time doing something productive such as training or learning. The type of person that I despise the most is right in front of her and making unnecessary cat sounds to attract some extra customers.
Madison suppressed a lot of her anger, but in the end, she still told the woman to stop the cutesy act in a rather aggravated tone.
Margret - *sigh* "Fine, so what do you want?"
'And here I thought this bitch couldn't act like a functional member of society, well color me impressed.'
Madison - "I want money, so sign me up for a quest or something."
Margret - "Yeah, I can tell. You're pretty much wearing a potato sack. Whatever. Just give me your adventurers' card."
Madison - "Oh yeah, I need one of those too."
Margret - "..."
Margret had now started to look like someone who truly hated her job. Since she now acted like an actual person, she seemed to be very aggravated at her career. She has the look of someone who wants to be anywhere but here but still has to be here.
Margret - "Come back tomorrow, it's too late to take it today, ok. First thing tomorrow morning, ok."
Oh, her agony is bliss. I started to smile unknowingly; her suffering was terrific. 'KARMA! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET! KNOW THAT YOUR ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES AND REPENT IN DESPAIR!'
Madison - "Alright, I'll be back tomorrow."
Madison left the counter and started to head towards the door she had entered through.
Margret - "Nyan-ext person, please!"
Table - *thud*
Madison - *Cries in pain*
Madison collapsed to the floor. She had stubbed her toe on a corner of a table leg, and since she didn't have any shoes, she felt the pure pain of her foot colliding with a sturdy table made of wood and suffered for a few moments before she recuperated, stood up, and exiting the building albeit somewhat embarrassed.
It's practically dusk, and I have no warm clothes or a place to stay. At least I'm not very hungry. This is upsetting. Well, this is just for today; by tomorrow, I should have some money, and if worst comes to worst, I can just steal some stuff.
After walking a little, Madison found a nice and cozy little alleyway with a moderately sized wooden box. She had found her temporary home, and it was among other people's trash. She made herself comfortable in the box and started drifting off to sleep.
Madison - "what a long day. What an absurdly long day. I died, I was reincarnated, I almost killed an old lady, I killed a slime, I almost died again, I ran a lot, I got put into debt, I saw an execution, and now I am in an ally trying to sleep. what a horrible day; let's hope tomorrow will be better."
She closed her eyes and finally fell asleep.
Madison started to dream, and she began to see a memory of when she was young and on a walk with her father.
Father - "There has to be something you want to do, right? You know, in the future."
Young Madison - "Nope! I just wanna be strong! How to get there doesn't matter."
Father - "Well, alright, just don't go selling your soul or something... Also, why do you want to be strong anyway?"
Young Madison - "hmmm... well, strong people get praised, right? I also want a statue. That'd be awesome!"
Father - "That would be pretty cool. I cant wait to see it one day."
After he said that, he looked down towards Madison and gave her a gentle smile. Madison looked up at him and responded with a smile of her own. She was happy. She was truly happy.
