Mr. Wang stared at the phone, its insistent ringing a mockery at his failure.

A week had gone by without a solution to the problem he and Feng Houyi created. Each day was a relentless parade of failed attempts to patch the gaping hole Mei Xing had discovered in Feng Houyi's contract with the company.

He had tried everything from legal interpretations to revised clauses, even a veiled bribe. Yet, Mei Xing, with her sharp mind and sharper legal team, had anticipated each move.

Sweat beaded on his forehead as frustration his frustration grew, a silent scream trapped in his throat. He slammed his fist on the desk, the impact causing the items on his desk to shake.

"Damn it," he cursed and muttered, "Why can't I find a way out of this?"

Just as he was about to hurl a stack of files across the room, the phone erupted again. The caller ID confirmed his worst fears. Gulping he answered the call.
