Chapitre 1: One - The War

With bleeding hands that were healing at a speed visible to the naked eye, a boy stood motionless on the ground. Piles of bodies stretched across the desert filled with soldiers and weapons stuck to the ground. In the air, flying creatures that seemed to have come from the depths of hell constantly moved south, away from the battlefield.

Some occasionally descended and feasted on the innards of the dead, be they human or demon, everything was acceptable for it, even if it could be considered cannibalism.

Opening his eyes slowly, the boy in a thin suit made up of bits and pieces of iron attached to a gambeson stared wide eyed at the scenes around him.

"Am I... still dreaming?"

A few minutes ago when he went to sleep, he started having an extremely confusing and nightmarish dream where he had been transmigrated to the world of Dragon Ball, but a much grittier and gory version of it...

In the dream that seemed to pass like a rocket, he was a vassal under the Dark Overlord of the north. Conscripted into the army in his childhood, he was destined to become a soldier under the rule of the tyrant, but things suddenly went south when demons came out of nowhere and started wracking havoc in the lands of his Majesty.

He was in one of the platoons sent to defend the farming fields near the southern borders. Having trained since young, he was strong and could wield the 4kg heavy Naginata easily in battle. But despite his superior physique, rivalling that of his comrades in arms, the enemies were too strong! Their foot soldiers alone could defeat two or three of theirs alone, and to make matters worse, they had aerial support from the flying demons who could shoot at them with their bows.

Worse yet was their general, a powerful three meters tall demon who could use his evil magic to shoot powerful beams of baleful energy with his mouth. Those that were hit would either die a gruesome death or be turned into a demon themselves if they were unlucky enough to survive...

Then, one of the demons seemed to have pierced him with a sword through his chest from behind. It was the last thing he could remember from the dream before waking up!

Surrounded by so many demons he couldn't help but sweat in fear...

Although he couldn't understand how he appeared in this place, his mind was only filled with thoughts of surviving.

Strengthening his grip on the handle of the Naginata, he started studying the surroundings and the enemies around him.

After a while, feelings of hope started to well up within him.

These are... the flying units? And they are also unarmed?! Shit! I have to grasp this opportunity!

Although very happy, he didn't dare show anything on the surface. Continuing to pretend to be dead, he waited till one of the demons approached him.

The moment one of them came close enough, he jumped to his feet and erupted with all the strength in his arms!

"Die!"

The sudden movement and shout scared the shit out of the demon who was paralyzed by fear. Unable to move he could only watch while the blade of the Naginata made a clean sweep of his neck.

"H-human! Everyone, kill him!" At that moment, the other Demons were alerted to his presence!

"Aaaaah!" Waving the blade, he hacked against another of the demons killing him instantly, while stepping back and narrowly avoiding the claws of another enemy.

Five demons approached quickly and two more died with his well trained moves.

Even if demons were strong, there were huge differences between most of them. The flying ones were nimble and could be very fast in the air, but they were also the weakest overall, lacking developed muscles and experience in close combat.

"Ahhh!" One of the demons cried out in pain! A blade sweep had dismembered one of his hands!

Blood gushed out like a river.

Distracted by the pain, he entered the way of one the demons by accident and got his head ripped open by the claws!

"Shit!" The demon who accidentally killed his companion cried out in shock and anger.

"Hahaha!" Laughing at the demons and their friendly fire, he made use of the chaos to strike once more. A slash cut through one of the demons and harmed another, following that, he grasped the Naginata by the end of the handle and waved it around in a powerful spin, beheading all enemies at once!

Puffing heavily, the boy collapsed on the ground with his chest heaving up and down constantly.

Now that the adrenaline in his veins dissipated, his exhausted body seemed to scream at him.

Fortunately, he managed to kill every single one of the demons.

Now... what to do?

Looking around, tears welled up his eyes.

Ricet, Beami, Carot, and even Radioz, all of them... dead...

"Friends... I'm so sorry!" Although it felt like a dream at first, seeing them all here. The feelings he nurtured in the dream all erupted at once. Those were his comrades, they were friends who had been with him from the very beginning and they are all dead now!

Damn it! Damn it! Why? Why did they have to die!

The tears streamed down his eyes as his fists struck the ground.

Ever since he was sold by his parents to the army, those were the closest ties he had in this world. They had always taken care of each other like true brothers! And now he lost everything that was dear to him.

"S-someone...?"

Right at that moment, a hoarse voice sounded from somewhere.

"Uh... Eh?" Wiping the tears from his face, the boy stood up and looked around.

"H-here..." A trembling hand raised upwards in the middle of a pile of bodies.

Turning towards it, he approached with caution. The Naginata was ready and he could strike at any moment.

However, as soon he came close enough to it he was stunned for a moment.

"This... Are you... commander Canet?"

"Y-yes... Y-you are... cough, cough!"

"Ah! Let me help you!" Putting the weapon down, the boy rushed into the Pile and started throwing the bodies away, the commander was most likely getting crushed by their weight, he would die if he didn't do anything.

"T-thank you..." Taking a deep breath, the commander felt the air filling his lungs and couldn't help but feel relieved, however, a sharp pain on his chest made him frown. With those injuries, he wouldn't survive past today.

Looking at the familiar boy who had been part of his platoon, he sighed sadly. "You should be the boy from the east, Muzashi, correct?"

Nodding heavily, Muzashi lowered his head slightly while showing his respect.

"Muzashi... I won't be able to survive this... You must take this scroll and bring it with you... warn the other nations... If we are to survive the threat of the Demon King Piccolo, we will need everyone's help! Especially those immortals from further east! They say the experts from the Dojos and Villages there can fly, summon the winds and crush the earth, they might be our only chance..." Having said this much, he gave him a sealed scroll with the stamp of the Overlord.

"Go! Take my sword and leave! You can't carry that heavy thing with you, it will only weigh you down! And remember! Don't stop! You can't change this war by playing hero... you must warn the others!"

"But commander, what about you!? This injury in your chest is still bleeding! You will die if I don't do anything!"

"There's no hope for me boy, the wound is too deep... If you really want to help, just deliver the scroll."

Seeing the determined look on commander Canet's eyes, Muzashi could only bow his head and obey.

Watching as his figure disappeared under the horizon, the commander sighed in relief. Fortunately, he used that time in the pile to write down all the information he managed to get. With that intel, perhaps the world still stands a chance.

Breathing his last breath, he closed his eyes, heavens awaited him.

With a somber look on his face, Muzashi kept walking. His eyes were clearly on the road, but anyone who looked at him would know he was distracted.

"What to do... How can I survive in this world? This is not the dragon ball I knew... I haven't been here for long but so many sad things have happened already... Will I die without achieving anything?"

Just as he was lost in his thoughts, a bell rang in his ears.

"Eh?" Stunned, Muzashi stared wide eyed at a computer-like screen with glowing blue words that appeared in front of him.
