"How's life been for you, Kírix? It's been a month."
Black Canary always asked the same question.
This kind of meeting is common now. They started two months after the war against the vampires.
It was because many of them had never seen death before, and it wasn't easy to go through.
This made the League worry about the effects of the war.
Dio won't lie—he felt nothing in that battle.
The problem came afterward, but Dio thought he didn't expose that to others, although maybe Batman noticed.
So, that's how the psychological counseling sessions with Black Canary began.
At first, Dio felt a little awkward doing something so private with a League member who could inform others about his thoughts.
Dio was right to be suspicious because he found four of Batman's bugs in their first meeting, which made Black Canary really furious.
She got up immediately and ran to the other room, where Dio could hear her yelling at Batman without his super-hearing.
These sessions continued at least once a week.
It was also her who pushed the idea of a world trip on him.
After that, the sessions continued but were reduced to once a month if there were no complicated missions.
Dio was proud to say that he was mentally stronger than anyone else on the team.
Unlike them, Dio could still see the memories of the people whose souls his sword absorbed.
They were a constant reminder of what he did, but Dio had the willpower not to ignore them.
Instead, he learned from them.
Dio discovered that being able to see memories opened a new door for him and it was knowledge.
For example, there was a soul in his sword that was a professional programmer.
Dio never had much contact with programming in his two lives, but he managed to learn almost everything he knew with the help of those memories.
It was a gold mine, but the diamond in it was the memories of the three-hundred-year-old vampire magician.
Those memories made him grow a lot as a magician, and he was still digesting them.
"I'm fine, Black Canary. It was a normal month with nothing important happening."
They never mention their true names, but Dio knew from his memories that her name was Dinah Laurel Lance.
"So, the explosion at the Tower wasn't a big deal?"
Black Canary asked to mock him.
Obviously, she knew about it since she was also the team's psychologist.
"It wasn't that big an explosion, and it was an accident."
Dio turned a little uncomfortably in the chair before answering. He still felt a bit embarrassed about it.
"Small explosion? It broke all the glass on one side of the Tower."
Black Canary taunted him.
"I'll pay..."
"That's also the second explosion. Are you developing some kind of explosion fetish? Should I be worried?"
Black Canary teased him to the max.
"Ah, come on."
Dio put his hand on his face in embarrassment.
"HAHAHAHA!"
Of course, Black Canary laughed.
This woman knew his weakness and his mistake. He felt quite embarrassed when such idiotic mistakes were discovered.
"I'll have to find another place to continue my studies."
Dio sighed.
One of the most amazing pieces of knowledge in the wizard's mind was alchemy.
Dio asked Batman and the rest of the team for one of the empty floors in the tower, where he set up a small lab that blew up a few days later.
He paid for the damage with his own money and made sure no one got hurt.
After learning his lesson, he set up his second laboratory outside the Tower.
It exploded four days ago, and the shockwave destroyed the glass on one side of the Tower.
Dio also paid for the damages, or at least tried, as the Tower's glass was not ordinary glass.
"At least you succeeded?"
Black Canary asked with curiosity.
It's no secret what Dio was trying to create using alchemy and magic, so he had no problem telling her.
"It worked for a few seconds until everything went wrong, and the explosion happened."
"Are you going to try again?"
"Not on the island. I scared my friends too much. I'm currently looking for a good place of my own. The problem is that legally, I still can't buy anything, so I'm thinking of going to Bewitched to try to buy some enchanted residence. But I'm a little afraid of buying a haunted mansion or something like that."
Dio could ask Batman or Robin for help.
They can do all of this online. Still, he was looking for the perfect place for him, not just a simple apartment.
"We live in a really crazy world. You're not old enough to buy a residence, but you can go to a magical bar full of mystical creatures."
Black Canary sighed and found it a bit challenging to accept magical reality.
Dio went to Bewitched a few more times since it's the perfect place to get materials that he needed more and more in his studies.
He bought rare items or won them in the game at the bar, and as for the rest, he took them from an A.R.G.U.S. warehouse.
They won't miss it; there are many warehouses filled with confiscated magical materials that they don't know how to use.
"Well, now that we're relaxed, why don't we start?"
Black Canary asked with seriousness.
Dio enjoyed their conversations, but there's also a downside to them.
"His name was Erik, born in Gotham..."
Dio had done this a few times to start from the beginning and summarize the life of one of the souls in his sword.
Black Canary had asked him why he didn't just release these souls into the underworld and let them find their paths.
Dio was tempted to do that, but it was the same as avoiding the problem and passing it on to someone else.
He read their memories to learn more about them, and then he released them into the underworld and let them find their own way.
"That's it."
Dio finished his report on firefighter Erik for her.
"You've finished another one; there are only a few left to be free."
Black Canary encouraged him in the end.
"Yes."
'That's a lie.'
Dio won't release the soul of the magician for two reasons.
First, this guy is horrible and he killed more than twenty women to increase his powers and gain a few more years of life.
They were all virgins, between the ages of eight and fourteen.
The second thing was that his soul already belonged to someone.
He made a deal with the lord of the dimension of darkness that lets him use black magic, like the black hole that sucked in his attacks.
That's why his soul is black, not the other colors.
He knew that letting it go into the underworld was not a good idea because it would be drawn into the dark dimension.
So, Dio would keep this soul with him for now until he found another solution.
They both went back to talking until ten o'clock at night, which was when Black Canary hit the streets.
They said their goodbyes, and Dio started to travel back home much more relaxed.
He really benefits a lot from therapy.
