"I need to go see my mom?" Grace said softly as she watched Jace hovering over her and fussing like an overly concerned parent.

"She's fine," he replied smoothly.

"I know she's fine, but she's probably worried sick by now. I told her I'd come straight to the hospital after school yesterday. She should've been discharged already, and…"

"That has been sorted out. You just need to rest some more."

"Really? What has been 'sorted out' and how exactly did you sort it out?" Grace asked, narrowing her eyes. She knew she could trust him if he says it's been sorted out but she was still curious. Or…

Her eyes widened as a sudden realization hit her. "You did not…" 

Before she could finish, Jace silenced her with a quick, stolen kiss. 

Seeing the startled expression on her face, his lips curved into a small smile. "Relax, babe. I didn't meet her. I asked your friend Wendy to stay with her at the hospital."
