The ignited hair is clear evidence that she is giving it her all now; they only light up when this happens.
Dio only had a second to summon his shield and raise it before she fired her bolts at him.
The yellow energy almost pushed him away, but he managed to hold himself to the ground and fight it.
The starbolts split when they hit his shield, and the pieces hit the trees nearby and either set them on fire or knocked them down.
Dio slowly approached her to stop the fight before everything burned.
When Dio approached her, his shield heated up because the starbolts were focused on solar energy fired by her and could melt ordinary metals.
Still, the metals from the underworld are much more resistant.
Slowly, Dio stood just a few inches away from her, and the shot continued.
Dio punched the back of his shield to stop the starbolt trying to push him.
"BOOM!"
The divine energy exploded in front of his shield and stopped the flow. This caused a huge explosion that sent them both in different directions.
In the air, Dio teleported above her and grabbed her clothes.
They fall to the ground together. On top of her, he drew his sword and placed the black blade against her neck.
"Enough of this madness!"
Dio shouted at her, who finally stopped moving, and the innocent in her green eyes reappeared.
"Did that help?"
Koriand'r asked in her innocent tone.
"Help with what, you crazy?"
Dio asked in a low voice—his anger had already reduced slightly.
"Well, the warlords of Okaara always said that a good fight solves a warrior's problems, so I thought you would feel better that way."
Dio stood up and put away his shield and sword, then extended his hand for her to get up.
"The warlords of Okaara seem to be a bunch of idiots."
The blame is clearly on them.
"But you really seem better now."
"What a mess!"
Dio shouted and changed the subject while looking at the forest around them in flames.
"Oh, I think I overdid it a bit."
"Overdid it!?"
Dio shouted and pointed to their left, where the flames were stronger.
"It was you who chose to defend with your shield; it would have been better to just dodge."
For this woman's insane logic, Dio chose to just walk away.
After a few spells, he managed to extinguish the flames with her help, and they both returned home.
At the entrance, they see all the team members wearing their suits ready for something.
"What happened?"
Dio asked while approaching.
"We just received an alert from Batman a few seconds ago. He reported that vampires simultaneously attacked several cities across the country."
Robin said as he put on his utility belt.
"A coordinated attack caught everyone off guard, even during the day."
Kaldur continued.
They didn't need to say anything more; Dio summoned the rest of his armor.
"Are we flying?"
There were attacks on several cities, so Batman had to split up his forces to deal with the situation.
"We don't have time; Raven will teleport us."
Robin replied.
"Where are we going?"
Dio asked while Raven covered them with her shadows.
"Boston, Martian Manhunter detected another attack there; the other points are already receiving help."
The raven spreads its wings again, and they find themselves in a well-lit alley.
There has never been an alley that Dio has been through that was so clean and brightly lit.
"Raven, Starfire, Speedy, and Kid, I want you on top watching everything. Kid Flash, Aqualad, and I will stay on the ground. We don't know exactly where the attack is happening, so stay on high alert."
Robin ordered everyone.
Raven, Starfire, and Dio flew high while Roy shot his arrow attached to a cable to climb to the roof.
Robin's orders were flawless.
The three of them could fly, and Roy had a telescopic sight in his mask that rivaled a precision rifle and cutting-edge technology.
Boston is one of the oldest cities in the country, alive and bustling, with thousands of people walking the streets and vehicles moving along the roads.
In the sea, there are a large number of boats and ships. This made it hard to find the vampires because there were so many noises.
This is going to take a while.
"I found them!"
Roy shouted over the communicator.
"Where?"
Robin asked.
But Speedy didn't respond. Fortunately, Dio managed to hear his voice and flew towards him at high speed.
A few kilometers away, Dio can see a pile of more than one hundred bodies stacked on top of each other near the metro entrance.
On top of the bodies, there is a three-meter-tall animal with hairy skin holding a woman's neck.
"Let her go!"
Speedy shouted from the other side of the street while drawing his arrows and firing them.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOAOAOAAA!"
The beast roared in pain and anger as three arrows hit its back, which made it release the woman.
A vampire-like hairy beast jumped toward Speedy.
Roy loaded two more arrows into his bow and shot them, but it turned into mist, and the two arrows passed through it.
It wasn't their first fight with a vampire, so Speedy jumped to the left when he saw the vampire transform into mist.
He did the right thing, as the vampire reappeared where he was.
"Don't get in my way, child!"
The vampire said with a rough and brutal voice.
"You'll pay for this, vampire!"
Speedy shouted while firing his arrows.
The vampire raised its arm to defend itself.
"We're near the east entrance of the metro!"
Dio shouted through his communicator as he slowed himself.
"On my way!"
Robin shouted in response.
"BLAAAAAAMMMMMM!"
Before the vampire could reach Speedy, Dio stabbed it in the chest and killed it after hitting its body from above and making a beautiful crater in the ground.
The vampire tried to slash him with its claws, but he jumped back to escape.
"Kírix!"
Speedy shouted.
Dio turned to the side and noticed the woman he had just saved attacking him.
Lying on the ground, the woman was on top of him while trying to bite his neck, and he was trying to push her away with his bow against his neck.
Dio teleported, grabbed the woman by her hair, and threw her into the pile of bodies on the other side of the street.
"What the hell is going on!?"
Speedy shouted and stood up.
"You attacked the wrong monster, children."
The vampire said in a strong British accent after changing form.
He is now a medium-sized shirtless man with a muscular body, black hair, and eyes, but there is a white streak on the side of his hair.
"HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!"
The vampire woman began to laugh after getting up.
"Mom was right; this is a feast for us."
The vampire said.
"Us?"
The vampire who attacked them earlier asked.
Then they began to rise, all those who were dead.
It was a bad mistake for Dio not to have noticed this earlier.
This part of the city was full of dead bodies, but there were no screams or signs of people running for their lives—everything was quiet because everyone was already dead.
They were only pretending to be dead.
The first ones standing were those who were piled up, and others appeared from the streets and houses around us.
Over three hundred vampires began to surround them.
"Damn the dawn of the dead."
Speedy joked and grabbed his arrows with metal tips, but they were few.
"This could take months."
The vampire said by their side, but he is the least of their problems.
"Three hundred vampires, you sure made them very angry."
Dio said to him.
"Their mother and I have a history."
"You can call me Kírix; he's Speedy."
Dio knew it seemed stupid to do this now, but he didn't want to fight alongside someone whose name he didn't know.
"I'm Andrew Bennett; it's a pleasure to meet you. Try not to die!"
