Chapitre 40: 40- Pyramid Dungeon (3)

The squad moved on to the sixth floor. This floor was full of floating pillars. There were so many places to hide. But Noah and Draco were able to tell if anyone was hiding near by or not.
This floor was way bigger than any of the other floors they've been on so far.
[Anyone Draco?] - Noah asked. He did not sense a single person on the floor.
[I feel no presence on this floor. Though I do feel something in one of the rooms] - Draco
[Is it something dangerous?] - Noah
[No. It's not a living thing. It's just a an item imbued with mana. Might be a relic] - Draco
[Can you tell how strong it is] - Noah got excited. This was a very rare chance for him to get his hands on ancient inscribed items. He might be able to learn from it. Maybe he won't be able to understand every single inscription on the item, but he would be able to learn a thing or two.
[I'm not sure. I can tell that it has a decent amount of mana though] - Draco
[It's fine. Even if it's small amount of mana, it could be that the relic had been depleted off of mana from the many years it had been stored here. Regardless I might be able to understand the inscription written on it] - Noah said excitedly
Draco did not respond back to that, he just rolled his eyes at Noah.
Noah didn't let Draco's behavior bring his excitement down. Noah looked at the rest of the group that was walking behind him,
"There is something in that room. Be vigilant, it might be a trap" - Noah
The group of three nodded as a response to Noah's warning.
Noah led the group to the room, they find a small floating pillar in the middle of the room. On top of the pillar there was a small earring gently floating on top of the pillar. The earring was pure white almost like it was made of snow.
Noah gets closer to the pillar. Up to the pillar there were no traps, the pillar itself had runes carved into it.
Noah decided to observe the runes closely before he disables them. He started scanning the runes with his eyes. He can tell that this will take some time, so he turned to his team,
"You guys can rest for a moment, I'm going to try and disarm this before we go on to the next floor" - Noah
The entire squad nodded before they all found a spot to sit down on.
Noah turned his attention back to the pillar. He can see a thin mana membrane surrounding the earring.
Noah stood in front of the pillar and started to observe. He started searching the whole runes. He just wanted to find a good starting point. A good starting point would be something that he can understand.

*10 Minutes Later*
To put it simply, Noah had no idea what he was looking at. He could not find a single inscription that he understood. Every single inscription on that pillar was completely new to him.
[I thought you said that you will be able to learn the inscription on the relic. You couldn't even understand the inscription on the pillar.] - Draco mocked Noah
[Mock me all you want Draco, but I will learn those runes...eventually] - Noah
[Ahahahahah, it sounds like even you don't believe yourself] - Draco
[Alright, shut up. I want to concentrate] - Noah
Draco kept on laughing, but he had cut off the telepathic link between them.
Noah ignored Draco and started going over the inscription one more time. He spent ten more minutes going over the inscription one more time, yet he couldn't fathom what the inscription meant.
[Alright I give up. I think I'll just absorb the mana in the inscription and take the earring] - Noah
[Alright. Just redirect the mana to your grimoire, since your mana is full right now] - Draco
Noah nodded and put his hand an inch away from the inscription. A small purple vortex appeared in his palm. The mana started to gather from the inscription. A second after Noah started absorbing the mana in the rune, he flinched.
[Noah] - Draco was about to warn him
[I know] - Noah cut him off
[This is not regular mana, it's nature mana. But how?] - Draco
[I have only ever heard of two ways for a rune master to inscribe items. The first is to create a mana bank inscription and fill the bank with mana. The item will use the stored mana until it runs out. After the bank is empty, it will require a rune master to refill it. The second way is to use the users mana straight away. Each one of those ways has it's own pros and cons. If there is a mana bank, then the item can be used even if the mage is out of mana, but it will require the mage to pay a fee to a ruin master for them to recharge it. The second method means that you will be able to use the item without having to worry about recharging it, but if one is too exhausted or does not have the amount of mana required to activate the item, then obviously the item won't work. Even the barrier contained around the capital and the one contained around the royal palace, both have mages at all time supplying it with mana. But this, it's truly magnificent. To gather man from its surroundings and then use it to supply the item. Just this makes it worth the hassle] - Noah's brain went on and on about all the possibilities.
[So what do you want to do. I mean, you can increase the rate of absorption and absorb faster than it can. Even if it will get to recharge after a while, that should give you enough time to grab the earring] - Draco
[That is true. But I really want to take this pillar with me. The inscription on the pillar is as much of a treasure as the earring itself] - Noah
"Noah are you alright. We have been here for twenty minutes. Can we leave already? We can just ask a rune master to come and take a look at the pillar later" - Mimosa
"Five more minutes Mimosa. If I can't think of something in the next five minutes, then we will leave" - Noah
Mimosa looked at Noah's serious face, "Alright, but please don't waste time if you can't undo the runes. Our mission is to explore the dungeons, and we are already late"
Noah nodded, before he turned his attention back to the pillar
[Can I store the pillar in my grimoire?] - Noah
[Are you even using your brain right now? Your grimoire can only store mana, pure mana. You can't store a pillar in here] - Draco
[What should we do then?] - Noah
[Since the it's left untouched, and the traps around it had been disabled, then the Heart mages couldn't touch it either. Lets leave it here for now, we can take try to get it out of here on our way back] - Draco
[Alright] - Noah couldn't argue back.
He walked back towards the rest of the team, "Alright. Let's keep going, there is no point of wasting time here. Let's move on to the next floor"
"Finally. I was begging to wander if you have lost sight of what out mission is" - Kirsch
Just as the team was about to move on to the next floor, Noah's senses had caught on to someone approaching them.
'She's back already?'
A moment later and Selena was in sight,
"Hum? You guys only moved on to one floor without me? Were you waiting for me, or did you meet enemies?" - Selena
"Neither, we found something, and Noah wasted time trying to solve the inscription and failed" - Kirsch
"That's besides the point, lets move on to the next floor" - Noah said as he started making his way to the entrance to the next floor.
The group followed behind him.
They went down the stairs, but unlike the previous stairs, this one had no traps.
[No traps on the stairs. Either there is a big surprise waiting for us at the next floor, or we caught up with the Heart mages already] - Draco
Once they stepped onto the next, everyone can feel the presence of five people, all five seemed to be in a fight with twenty mana signatures. The weird thing is all mana signatures were exactly the same, like the same person existed twenty times.
The group started running towards the area where the fight was. Once Noah saw the faces of the mages, he could recognize one of them, while the rest were mages had the Heart kingdom symbol on their grimoires.
Noah couldn't help but smile, 'Finally we caught up'
