I made my way with the others to the center of the courtroom. Finally, all the guests had stopped chatting among themselves, and all eyes were upon us. Not a hushed voice or whisper. They were all listening intently as we began.
A vampire wearing a scarlet red suit with a black tie and pocket square descended the stairs, sweeping his silky black hair away from his golden eyes as he met us on the courtroom floor.
"My name is Felix, and I will be your lead proctor for this evening," he said, snapping his fingers.
Three other proctors and a group of servants came from the side rooms, dragging rows of desks and chairs behind them.
"The test consists of three Trials," said Felix. "The first shall be law and etiquette. You will do a written exam and a practical test."
"What is the practical?" asked another human to my left.
He seemed young and clean-cut. He was wearing a fitted suit, and his hair was neatly done.
