I love how this book mixes fantasy tropes like blade auras and mage shields with practical military tactics.
Order instantly returned to the army that had been thrown into chaos. High-ranking knights capable of blade aura placed themselves at the fore to shield the army from the hurtling rocks. The infantry retrieved the siege shields and giant crossbows from the baggage wagons and assembled them at regular intervals.

He's a monk! Pretty sure his self righteousness and vow of chastity would make that unlikely
I adored My Once Handsome Husband, and I really wanted to love this book. The author can legit write, but things fell off a bit in this story. It started off really strong, but around the middle it got rocky. The plot judges one character for "putting everyone in danger", then the ML does the same thing. The ML is in a rush to kill the dragons that day, despite how much easier it would be if they just wait a day. Everyone is broken and bruised and magically better the next night. This could have been solved with the occasional "they rested a week". I just couldn't finish it when I hit the "FL suffers depression so ML can surprise her" ending, especially when both characters' growth was all about not keeping secrets.
I really like this story, but this is starting to be too unbelievable. She has no idea of the basics of s*x and natural birth control, yet she lives among pirates and her mother is a healer. Mason has only done procreative s*x with her? No foreplay? The man was a cad and likely surrounded by people who were very concerned about potential illegitimate heirs.
The pirates are all gonna be like "Oh, wait, you were trying to keep that a secret as you mooned over each other in this tiny cavern and before that on our tiny ship." 😆
"So tomorrow night, when we all march together to attack the dragon, know I won't just be fighting for my own life. I'll be fighting for the lives of all of you that I consider my family... And I will be fighting for the life of the woman I love."

LOL, I thought she was pivoting to make him talk about his plans for the dragons. 😆
She smiled before he moved, sweeping her up into his arms. She gasped and threw her arms around his neck.

Makes me wonder what their sleeping arrangement looked like. 😅
The three slept most of the day, and when they finally woke up for good, the sun was just starting to sink out of sight. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and a cool breeze blew, signaling wet and chilly weather ahead for them. They ate the rest of their crab from that morning and prepared to go.

Riftan, take notes. This is how you protect someone you care about from the big dangerous world. Give them the skills to protect themselves.
"Although it is always best to start with the basics, we shall skip ahead to some practical techniques since we are short on time. You must make up for your lack of stamina by catching your enemy off guard. Aim for a critical blow. A knife to the chest is always effective, or a strike between the ribs, aiming for the heart or lungs. Either will be instantly fatal. However, that requires both strength and skill, and it would be difficult with monsters of the Ayin race that are more often than not wearing breastplates. Since your enemy will be more guarded if you fail on the first try, you must strike where a fatal blow is most likely. Aim for visible vital points. That would be the eyes, throat, and abdomen. Even if the blow doesn't kill your enemy, it should give you enough time to escape or protect yourself."

I was thinking the same thing. I am so excited to read new content.
Maxi has come so far from fainting at the sight of a Riftan decapitating a troll
Maxi breathed a sigh of relief as the number of monster carcasses grew. All at once, the wyverns, once well over a hundred in number, were reduced to half. But it was not over yet.
