I think killing them all would be the easier option tbh He has incredible power, but instead of murdering a bunch of helpless civilians, he chose to hold on to his humanity. He's choosing to fight against Omniman instead of letting him get away with the massacre. I understand what you mean, it being easier on his conscience, but that doesn't mean it's the "easier" path.
If by continuing to live he threw away all his values, crossed all lines, and violated all morals, was he still himself? If he became the monster that the universe seemed to want to turn him into, if he only chose the easy options...
