Chapter 11 — The Awakening Of Demon Knight.
Gauna are alien lifeforms composed of a True Body and a Placenta. They have the ability to shapeshift and take many forms.
The alien lifeform Gauna consisted of two primarily materials.
A Gauna's Placenta or exterior covering, and its True Body or energy core.
The Placenta were highly malleable, able to move at great speed, extend significant distances, morph into different forms, and be used for variety of purposes like creating different material and even complex machinery.
However, the ability to create materials and machinery were something yet to still be discovered.
The Gauna in front of Jason took the form of a gigantic genderless humanoid with a monstrous and nauseating features.
This dangerous alien lifeform was now classified as Gauna 487 on the screen's target information.
The number 487 represented how many Gauna's have Sidonia encountered throughout their very long history. It was a dark history where they barely survived.
Swooosh!

Several dozens of placenta arms were sent toward Rokurome with great speed, but Rokurome flew away while firing its rifle multiple times towards it.
However, it soon ran out of ammo and Rokurome threw it away.
Jason switched his weapon to the machine gun, attached to Rokurome's arm, while fleeing away.
He then opened a communication channel that connected toward the Sidonia's command room.
"Jason over to the command bridge, I request for reinforcement and the authorization to use the Kabizashi."
Kabizashi.
The only weapon capable of destroying the True Body of a Gauna. Its origin was unknown, but it must have been from a great extinct civilization in the past.
"Pilot Jason, quickly retreat now and stop engaging combat with Gauna 487. We'll send a squad to eliminate it later, but for now, let's observe the situation."
A white-haired man from the command room replied cautionsly.
However, Jason shook his head at that decision.
"I apologize, but I cannot do that. The Gauna would just adapt and grow much more stronger when that time comes. We must immediately eliminate the Gauna before it thinks of heading toward Sidonia and became a powerful threat."
The side from the command room grew silent for the moment.
"Fine, I understand your logical reasoning. We will immediately send a squad along with several Kabizashi," The man couldn't refute Jason's words.
He then continued,
"As for the trainees, your mission is now cancelled. Return to the base and observe the battle that will occur later back at the SDF Academy."
The trainees were very reluctant to leave, but it was an order from someone that was higher than them.
Jason even said that they should head back as they wouldn't able to help much and instead just hold them back.
They left the area and returned to Sidonia after that.
Rokurome flew out of the asteroid and floated away from it.
Jason calmly looked at the Gauna that was slowly trying to emerge from the ground.
He then clicked his tongue, thinking It was larger than he had thought after the Gauna's entire body emerged from the ground.
He continued observing and waited for reinforcement. He wondered whose squad will come.
Jason's communication channel buzzed softly and he quickly opened it.
Wearing the normal white pilot suit, Akai greeted his sight.
"Jason, wait for us to arrive. We also brought a Kabizashi for you."
So it was them.
Jason nodded and replied, "Understood. Thank you for bringing it to me."
"Jason, do you know if this mission will end up fine? I'm quite nervous. This is not our first time, but in reality, we haven't fought that much Gauna," Akai spoke uncertainly.
Jason hesitated for a moment before reassuring him.
"It will be fine, stay calm and collect your thoughts."
He was also feeling nervous inwardly.
This was gonna be his first real battle against a Gauna.
It was also understandable for the Akai Squad to not have much experience since they grew up in the 100 period of peace.
The communication channel turned black.
Jason once again examined the Gauna and saw its body was now fully out, heading toward the direction of Sidonia.
The Gauna was immense, larger than the tall Type 18 Guardian. It had many thick and small placenta arms around it.
The Gauna's placenta armour seemed to evolved in just a short amount of time, as it looked more solid and thicker than normal.
Jason knew he was reason for the Gauna's quick evolution.
It was getting stronger in just a short amount of time. That's why he didn't wanted to delay things anymore.
The Akai Squad soon arrived and decoupled from their palm formation. They went toward Jason and handed his Kabizashi.
All of them said good luck to each others, knowing their lives could easily be taken.
The Akai Squad and Jason formed a battle formation and went to confront the Gauna 487.
"Jason over to all Akai Squad, Gauna 487 has grown much stronger than before. Stay alert."
"""Understood.""""
The Gauna quickly sensed them approaching and its large placenta arms immediately became a sharp whip that slammed toward all of them.
"It's really much faster than the data collected from before," Aoki said grimly while sweating and repeatedly slashing the incoming placenta with the Kabizashi.
"I and Aoki will try to attract the Gauna's placenta as much as possible. Akai, Momose, and Jason will try to destroy its True Body."
Midorikawa said, his Guardian flew toward the distance, attracting many placenta arms that were very troublesome to deal with.
"""Roger!"""
The three responded quickly and flew toward the Gauna.
Momose's Guardian was flying at full speed, pushing forward while dodging the thin placenta arms that guarded the Gauna.
Arriving near the Gauna, Momose pushed a button and her Guardian's head started glowing brightly with some blue sparks.
"Higgs Particle Cannon—Full Release!"
An intense resplendent blue light exploded out from the Guardian's head, shooting straightly toward the Gauna.
BOOM!
"Did it work!?
Momose celebrated as she saw her attack incinerating the Gauna's Placenta Armour, slightly revealing its True Body.
"Akai and Jason, you two head toward the place I attacked to completely remove the protective membrane and destroy the True Body!" Momose commanded.
"Roger!" Akai answered. He was very near the location, and then fired two guided missiles to the damaged spot.
Jason provided him with cover from the back, slashing away the incoming placenta arms with the Kabizashi.
However, at this moment, Momose suddenly screamed out loudly in horror as the right arm of her Guardian was grabbed by a placenta.
Momose quickly tried to remove the placenta and retreat, but she froze completely in fear as she saw countless placenta swarming toward her.
Those placenta were previously following Midorikawa and Aoki, but it was attracted by Momose.
Akai was on his way to destroy the True Body, but quickly stopped and changed direction when he heard Momose screaming.
"Akai!?"
Jason was surprised when he saw Akai unhesitantly throwing their chance to eliminate the Gauna away.
He then clenched his teeth and decided to do it by himself, but then saw the destroyed portion immediately being covered by various large and thick placenta arms.
He was forced to stop and quickly retreat away from the incoming waves of placenta that came to defend the Gauna.
He went toward Akai confusedly and then widened his eyes.
A bad premonition arose.
"Momose!"
Akai's heart skipped a beat when he saw all those many placenta charging toward Momose's Guardian.
He knew that the Higgs Particles that she released from earlier attracted the Gauna's interest.
"I must make it!" Akai roared out with a bloodshot eyes, pushing the controls forward to its limit.
His Guardian used all of its thrusters power to the very limit just to reach Momose.
Momose desperately fought against the waves of placenta, but she was overwhelmed by the numbers of it.
The limbs of her Guardian's were being destroyed and torn apart. It was close to reaching inside.
Huff... Huff...
"I'm sorry, Akai..."
Momose breath heavily as she said those words weakly.
This was her end.
She remembered her family and squad mates.
Momose's eyes then suddenly widened as Akai's Guardian appeared and hurriedly removed all the placenta out of her Guardian, forcefully shoving her out of the way.
"No..!"
Momose gasped, she stretched her arm forward toward Akai who was now facing against the swarm of placenta.
All she could do was watch him as she slowly floated away.
Akai felt his heart pounding harshly as adrenaline left his system, now watching himself about to get doomed.
His thrusters malfunctioned after being used to its very limit.
"This is my end. It's such a laughable death for such a so-called ace pilot," Akai chuckled and then hoped Jason could finish the rest.
But then—
Bang!
Two guided missiles exploded at the waves of disgusting flesh.
Jason used all of his guided missiles just to try and save Akai from his doom. While doing so, he felt the time growing slower and slower.
Momose was relieved seeing that scene, tears couldn't help but fall from her eyes.
Jason quickly switched into his machine gun and desperately fired against the still incoming placenta while going near Akai.
"You fucking shit! Don't give up and die when you have just recently gave us a big, serious problem!"
Jason was furious.
If not for Akai giving up the chance to destroy the True Body, the Gauna would already have died.
Momose would also still be alive.
Akai had made such a stupid and reckless mistake.
Akai was stunned before becoming apologetic.
"Yeah... You're right, I'm sorry..."
Akai bowed his head, but then froze as he noticed something.
The sound of the machine gun stopped.
It ran out of ammo.
And Rokurome threw Akai's Guardian away as it wasn't able to move, not even able to provide some help.
Swoosh!
Bang!
A spear-like placenta arm pierced Rokurome's left arm.
"Jason, retreat quickly!" Akai shouted while drifting away after being thrown.
Jason didn't replied and the High-Speed Vibration Blade suddenly popped out of Rokurome's right arm.
Swiish!
The vibrating blade cut the placenta arm piercing Rokurome's left shoulder. It couldn't moved.
Rokurome then circled the Kabizashi around its body using one arm, deflecting and cutting the incoming placenta arms.
"Midorikawa and Aoki, quickly carry the immobile Akai and Momose back to the base," Jason whispered to the communication channel.
He turned to them silently.
"What about you?" Midorikawa asked with a solemn face.
"I'll stay behind to buy you guys some time to retreat."
As Jason said that, Rokurome turned around from them, its lonely back facing them.
He could hear them being angry about his decision.
However, Jason didn't cared about their anger and arguements toward him.
His heart was calm and still as water.
"Quickly leave now!"
The noises from the communication channel stopped and became silent.
"I cannot retreat from this mission, but you, my comrades can. However, don't worry too much. I will not fall and will return.
"Trust me."
Jason said with a hazy gaze.
The Akai Squad felt Jason's conviction and unyielding confidence from within those words.
And thus they decided to trust Jason.
They retreated while feeling nervous and guilty.
Jason couldn't retreat.
He had to slay this Gauna at all cost.
At the corner of his vision—
[ Remaining Energy: 5 Hours Left. ]
It just suddenly appeared after it neared depletion.
Jason was close to dying and now needed to absorb an energy core.
Hence, he didn't choose to retreat from this Gauna.
But suddenly, during this tense moment—
Time seemed to stop completely.
⟨ Detecting Energy Is Near Depletion. ⟩
⟨ Detecting Imminent Threat. ⟩
⟨ Offline Energy Saving Mode Is Forcefully Halted. ⟩
⟨ Mechanical Symbiote Is Online. ⟩
⟨ As predicted, it would take a certain amount of time for Host to fully develop and meet the appropriate target for energy core. ⟩
⟨ Now host, please authorized the usage of Mechanical Parasitism. ⟩
This bastard took ages to wake up.
Jason didn't even felt anything significant from it anymore.
"Use it."
He muttered simply.
⟨ Authorization Complete. ⟩
⟨ Energy Decreased Into 50 Seconds. ⟩
⟨ Mechanical Parasitism. Target: Rokurome. ⟩
⟨ You May Now Rampage As You Please. ⟩
A resplendent crimson lightning swam across the perfect mechanical body of Rokurome.
Rokurome's black body gained a deeper and darker shade and a crimson hue along its surface.
Its ruby visored face released a menacing sensation as it seemed to become alive.
⟨ Structural Limit Has Been Released. ⟩
⟨ Higgs Particle Reactor's Acceleration And Concentration Output Increasing By 100%... 150%... 200%. ⟩
The blue particles leaving Rokurome's thruster turned from blue into a deep starry crimson particles.
Rokurome was now slouched forward, resembling a ferecious beast with crimson lightning dancing around it wildly. It was also able to use its left arm again, albeit forcefully.
Roarr!
Rokurome released a deep beastly growl from within its mouth piece, holding the crimson Kabizashi tightly.
< 50 Seconds Remaining Until Energy Ran Out And Complete Death. ⟩
"⟨ More than enough! ⟩"
Jason muttered inside the cockpit, feeling he was Jason and Rokurome at the same time.
They were completely one.
Rokurome's head shone menacingly as it suddenly vanished from its location, leaving a trail of crimson particles behind.
It then reappeared, this time, now behind the Gauna, the Kabizashi already leaving a large hole behind its body.
The people at the command room, the trainees at the SDF Academy, and the Akai Squad.
They were all completely stunned and didn't know what happened.
A question appeared within all of their minds.
How was this possible?
