Chapter 12 — Instinct Memories.
Vast Space | 6:30 PM.
"⟨ Haaa.... I missed it. ⟩" Jason took a deep breath as he looked back at the Gauna.
A large hideous hole was currently present on its gigantic head, leaving it warped and deformed. It was now regenerating slowly as the placenta arms started to protect the spot instinctively.
Although just briefly, Jason was able to see its True Body located at its neck.
⟨ Host, do you wanna activate Battle Sense Mode? It will maximise your fighting and piloting abilities. ⟩
"⟨ Activate it. I need your help for now. ⟩" Jason quickly agreed without thinking much about it.
He wasn't still familiar while using ⟨ Mechanical Parasitism ⟩, wherein his sub-consciousness merged with Rokurome's own data, granting him a heightened spatial awareness. It also allowed Jason to mentally and physically move Rokurome without any delays.
The limits of its own mechanical structure was unleased, Rokureme's abilities increasing greatly as a result, however, it was at the cost of Jason and Rokurome needing to shoulder a huge amount of stress.
Jason quickly felt something blooming within his brain—a new kind of special sense that was honed through many battles. It assisted with his every movement and even capable of unconsiously doing simple battle commands on its own, allowing Jason to have the capacity to control things more effectively and efficiently.
⟨ 40 Seconds Left Till Energy Depletion. ⟩
Jason immediately decided to end this situation as his remaining lifespan continued to shrink.
Rokurome took a throwing stance, the Kabi Spear being pulled toward its back with crimson lightning converging towards it.
—Thunderbolt Spear!
Rokureme threw the Kabi Spear forward while using all of its strength, flying toward the neck of the Gauna.
Swoooosh!
The Kabizashi flew through the void of space at lightning speed. It was surrounded by arcs of resplendent crimson lightning that propelled it explosively for the second time.
BANG!!!
The Kabi Spear pierced the Gauna's neck, stabbing deeply into its True Body.
Crack...!
The True Body started showing cracks that spread slowly.
⟨ Host, immediately grab on the Kabizashi and use the spear as a medium to absorb the vast energy that is contained in the Gauna's core. It is the only crude absorption method available during this situation. ⟩
Jason didn't needed to reply and without wasting any seconds, Rokureme immediately vanished from its location, leaving behind a starry trail of crimson particles.
Stab!
Rokurome appeared next to the Kabizashi and quickly held it tightly, strongly pressing the spear forward to completely destroy the True Body.
The crimson lightning spread outwards them like it was a pair of unfolding wings. The Gauna struggled unceasingly but it was useless, making the current scene to look spectacular and mesmerising.
Boom!
The True Body exploded into various pieces, the Gauna's immense Placenta exploding into countless nasty pinkish bubbles that soon disintegrated, returning to the infinite flow of Higgs Particles that was present everywhere on the universe.
"Gauna 487 Bubble Disintegration Confirmed! It has been successfully eliminated!"
Hence, the mission ended with a successful closure.
From where the True Body got destroyed, a vast amount of pure chaotic energy surged powerfully and went into the Kabizashi, passing through Rokureme and then finally toward Jason.
"⟨ Aghhh....! ⟩"
Jason groaned loudly as he immediately felt a very pleasant and wonderful sensation surging throughout his veins, reinvigorating his mind and body.
It also hit his sweet spot, making him feel delighted.
The energy was very warm, as if Jason returned to his mother's embrace.
⟨ Energy: Five Years Remaining. ⟩
Jason finally felt relieved after seeing these words.
He then heard something shocking—
⟨ Host, I have detected that the energy absorbed contained some of the Gauna's essence. It contained some useful information about its Origin. ⟩
⟨ Do you want to extract and experience the information yourself? ⟩
Jason pondered for a moment and thought it didn't seemed dangerous. Moreover, he was feeling curious about the unknown alien lifeforms origins.
"Yes, I wanna experience it."
⟨ Affirmative. ⟩
⟨ Sending the Gauna's information directly into the brain's database... ⟩
Jason slowly closed his minds, the world that he knew seemed to transformed into something different.
He was now watching.
The memories that were branded to every Gauna's instinct.
....
At the completely dark and lifeless part of the universe.
A colossal world that was even larger than the largest star to exist. The world was entirely made out of grotesque and monstrous placenta that looked like a squirming and moving red ball entirely made out of flesh.
Its size was so immense that it seemed to stretch far without end, constantly ever expanding infinitely.
This was a Mass Union Planetary Origin Ship.
And the place where the innumerable Gauna originated from.
This was a world entirely created from the union of innumerable Gauna. To speak frankly, their number was something that couldn't even be counted.
"...."
Jason was silent as he watched this world as a mere spectator.
He didn't know what emotions he was feeling after facing this horrible truth.
Was it despair?
He felt so weak, realising his existence was only something very insignificant.
However, his eyes burned calmly within.
Hope wasn't gone yet.
Instead it burned more brighter and calmer than ever before.
Jason will choose to fight even if his existance was something insignificant and worthless.
He will fight until the end—choosing not their and his defeat, but only a victory filled with hope.
The surrounding soon changed.
It was now inside the Gauna's world.
On the very center of this world filled with carnage and darkness, there was a throne made out of grotesque flesh, and it was connected to the entire world itself.
On that throne sat a small humanoid person that looked simple.
However, it was an existance born from the amalgamation of an entire forgotten civilization's minds and wisdoms.
Its own appearance was just something insignificant, but it wholely expressed the meaning behind the existance of their race.
It was just a person whose was body was entirely red with a pair of frightening hollowed eyes that contained nothing but pure darkness and despair itself.
It looked unremarkable and insignificant, but Jason was trembling in fear when he stood before it.
Its emotions were extremely chaotic and so unfathomable like an abyss that it drowned him in just a matter of seconds.
Jason then heard—
⟨ I assumed this person is the Ruler Of Gauna Race—The Gauna Emperor. And the Gauna are just its creations. ⟩
"I see...." Jason muttered while looking at the Gauna Emperor.
It was terrifying.
—To all subjects of the Gauna Race—
The emperor's voice rang out everywhere and were engraved to all Gauna's Instinct. Its voice was completely emotionless, even sounding mechanical.
It was so cold and frosty, causing chills to appear over Jason's spine.
—What is our existance about?—
It asked.
—Do not ever forget it. We are the Guardian, protector of this universe, our home—
—Our existance itself means to eliminate the parasites that constantly tries to harms the universe, As always, like the fate of other parasites, their fate shall remain the same—
—They should have just cowered and hidden beneath their own shells, not daring to become curious about knowledge and the unknown—
—O' foolish parasites, but why insist to walk down the path of doomsday?—
—Why dare to be utterly foolish?—
—No matter what reasons or excuses, we will move unceasingly forward as the Guardian of this universe—
—O' subjects of my Gauna Race! Rampage and slaughter as you please! For the fate of those parasites are none other than extinction!—
—O' lowly ones, tremble and cower in fear of us!—
—We will destroy—
—Every single civilization of parasites to ever exist in this universe—
—We will hunt and search for you parasites everywhere—
—That is our sole mission—
The emperor then stopped speaking and sat silently at the throne, looking lonely and unsettling.
Its hollowed eyes will never close.
Yet it dreamed.
Of a certain past.
About a mighty and powerful ancient civilization that fought valiantly until their demise.
...
While Jason was experiencing the memories contained within the Gauna's Instinct, the time was still moving in real life.
The Gauna 487 was already gone, having already disintegrating into nothingness.
Rokureme was stranded and drifting away on the dark and lonely space. It was completely motionless, its current condition being horrible and completely ruined.
Its damaged left arm was now deformed and unusable.
This was the cost of using ⟨ Mechanical Parasitism ⟩.
Rokurome couldn't handle the huge stress it shouldered. The material it was built from weren't able to handle it.
Its Higgs Particles Reactor was broken from the abrupt forceful increased of its output.
The ⟨ Mechanical Parasitism ⟩ was just too aggressive for both Rokurome and Jason.
Rokureme needed some upgrades to become more durable to successfully endure the stress brought by it.
It also used the energy that maintened Jason's lifespan, making it dangerous and a waste to use wantonly.
It should be only treated as his final trump card.
Sidonia | Command Bridge.
"Gauna 487 has been successfully eliminated!"
A loud and clear voice resounded throughout the room filled with silence.
They were still shocked from what happened earlier, slowly becoming puzzled over it.
The speed and power that Rokureme showed at the very last moment was shocking and unbelievable.
It was because they knew Rokureme didn't have such a strange function and therefore shouldn't capable of doing that kind of thing.
However, Rokureme's status and parameter information suddenly became very high earlier.
The exact cause was still unknown, but it was definitely impossible without any external interference.
So in the end, Jason must have done something that caused Rokureme to suddenly erupt with unprecedented power and speed.
If they could somehow learn that kind of thing, wouldn't they be more safer and prepared for Gauna?
Wouldn't their survival chances increase a little more?
Sidonia desperately needed skilled pilots and any means of power. Their future path was gonna be filled with many extremely dangerous encounters that would even become worse than hell itself.
"How's the current state of Rokureme?" The commander asked calmly.
"Based on its status condition, Rokurome is currently red! The internal systems have collapsed, making communication impossible. It also suffered some heavy and serious damage."
Rokureme's current state was horrible, causing them to think its suddenly eruption had some sorts of drawbacks.
"How about Jason's condition?"
"He is currently fine and isn't in danger, only falling unconsious."
"Good. Immediately send a Squad to retrieve Rokureme and Jason before they drift too faraway from Sidonia," The commander ordered and then left the command bridge.
A retrieval squad was dispatched and then managed to safely bring Rokurome and Jason back toward the base.
Jason woke up several days later, waking up from his deep slumber and slowly opened his eyes.
His hazy gaze contained a deep engrained fear. However, it also displayed coldness and firm determination.
He had learned the origin of Gauna, realising how unfathomable and crazy they were than he had first thought.
It made him feel scared from the bottom of his heart, and probably gonna make him suffer from nightmares.
Jason knew inwardly.
That with their current state and situation—
It was definitely impossible for humanity to survive long enough if they didn't develop much more crazily and faster than the Gauna Race.
The 5th Gauna War.
It already started—long before Jason could even realize about it.
The race against time started.
...
I'm thinking of setting up my own P@treon as my family situation is kinda down and I wanna feel useful ya know?
However, I think of not making it like those pay to read advance chapter, but just a simple donation.
It can also be good for me since I can maybe finally make areal goal and not get suddenly feel lazy and then drop it. I just write just for fun and then once I think its not that worth it, I will feel dropping. That kind of feeling.
Even a little will make me thankful :)
