Chapter 66 — Link!
Although Jason could see there were many Gaunas, he couldn't determine their exact location and exact numbers.
"Command bridge, this is the recon party speaking. Over," Jason said to the comm after the pain subsided.
"We hear you," Yuhata soon replied.
"My sensors have detected the sign of Gaunas behind Planet Lem-IX. What should we do?"
It was troublesome to explain how Jason could detect the Gaunas, so he just decided to attribute it to Rokurome's upgraded sensors.
"The situation is dangerous…" Yuhata quickly believed his words, "Captain, what should we do about this?"
"What's your thoughts about this, Pilot Jason?" Kobayashi asked. She didn't give her order to Yuhata yet.
"I'm confident of completing this mission successfully. Now that we know they're waiting to surprise attack us, there's nothing more to worry about."
And besides, Jason was confident on annihilating them with Rokurome.
Kobayashi nodded, "Then the mission will continue."
"Roger!" answered Yuhata and Jason.
The carrier soon managed to get near Planet Lem-IX.
"We're about to enter Planet Lem-IX's far side," said the carrier's pilot.
The recon party's route was to go around the back of Planet Lem-IX before returning back to Sidonia.
"Gaunas are masters of camouflage. Stay alert!" reminded Yuhata.
As they approached the ring around Planet Lem-IX, Jason ordered the carrier's pilot to retreat and then wait for them at the rendezvous point.
As such, Rokurome and Fortuna eventually left from the carrier. They formed a two unit palm formation before entering the gigantic ring.
Although the ring looked very beautiful from afar, it was the opposite when upclose.
The ring was formed from a bunch of scattered space rocks.
"Keep your eyes open," Jason warned cautiously. There was a possibility of a Gauna suddenly popping out from amongst the scattered rocks that varied in sizes.
"Any contact yet?" asked En.
"None," Jason slowly shook his head.
His sensors didn't detect any Gauna Signals around them.
The two of them continued flying along the designated route. They soon managed to reach the periapsis, the point in the path of an orbiting body at which it was nearest to the body that it orbits(?).
The atmosphere of Planet Lem-IX became visible as they went across the periapsis.
But Jason soon narrowed his eyes upon seeing the sensors detecting signals from far away.
"Gaunas Detected!" Jason warned loudly.
"Where!?" En asked hurriedly.
Jason quickly replied, "I detected numerous Gaunas from Planet Lem-IX's atmosphere at 1 and 11'clock!"
"They finally revealed themselves!" Yuhata muttered after seeing the Gauna Signals that Rokurome detected.
She narrowed her eyes, "Careful, they're reading your flight course!"
The two groups of Gaunas were flying ahead of them toward their designated course.
"A pincer attack!"
"We'll shake them off," Jason calmly ordered.
Rokurome and Fortuna raised their speed by several times, allowing them to leave the Gaunas behind.
The Gaunas tried to catch up to them by speeding up, but they were much slower than them.

En sighed in relief, but soon found it wasn't over yet.
"There's a large amount of red mist ahead of us!" Jason warned again with his red eye twitching uncomfortably.
"I can't see it!" En was confused as she wasn't able to see a red mist.
"I'll try to hit it."
Rokurome's pair of crimson eyes began to shine, shooting intense laser beams ahead of it.
Boom!
It managed to hit something, causing a cloud of smoke to appear in front of them.
"Something was really there!" En cried out.
The smokes dispersed, revealing a damaged placenta body.
"An invisible placenta body…" Jason wasn't a stranger with this trick," Let's stop here. We can't forcefully pierce through this gigantic fleshy wall."
En agreed without hesitation.
Rokurome and Fortuna disassembled from their palm formation. They hovered before the placenta membrane that grew large placenta arms.
Jason and En immediately retreated away, but like a towering tsunami, it followed after them persistently.
And there were also two groups of Gaunas pursuing them from behind.
Soon, Jason managed to spot thousands of fleshy sperms approaching from behind them.
Looking around, he knew this was an unsuitable area to fight.
"Let's enter Planet Lem-IX," Jason suddenly proposed.
"Do you have a plan?"
Jason nodded, "We can definitely win against them here, but it would hold some risks. But if we enter Planet Lem-IX and use its natural terrain to our advantage, we'll have a perfect chance of winning."
"Understood."
Rokurome and Fortuna formed a palm formation again, diving straight into Lem-IX's atmosphere below them.
Like a falling meteor bathed in flames, the two Guardian Knights were quickly descending down with the Gaunas following after them.
Fortunately, the armour was enough to handle the intense heat.
And inside the Gas Planet, although full of gases, had some solid lands that could be spotted everywhere.
As they fell, Rokurome and Fortuna turned around, aiming their mass drivers toward the swarm of sperms.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
With every shot, a Gauna turned into bubbles.
Bam!
Rokurome and Fortuna activated their thrusters to slow down their landing on the ground.
The swarm of sperms were gradually nearing them. Even the placenta membrane was amongst them.
"Cross Link System: Activate!" Jason uttered deeply, "Link with En!"
"Acception!" En accepted eagerly.

The Neuro Ring deployed around their heads, releasing a bright red and pink light. The four rods at the cockpit also emitted the same light.
The hologram screen changed from blue to red and pink colors. The status of their Guardian Knights also transformed.
A crimson thin wing abruptly deployed from Rokurome's head. Its fascial compartments also retracted to the sides, revealing a large mouth filled with razor-sharp teeths that pumped out with whitish hot steams.
A large crystal wing unfolded from its broad back, releasing eerie crimson particles.
Aside from the wing on the back, thin wings also deployed from its shoulders, and legs.
At the same time, Fortuna also transformed to grow purple and pink wings.
And with the Cross Link System finally complete, En and Jason's eyes shone with the same sharp light.
