"You want everyone to live?" the Void repeated grimly. "What a human thing to say. Although you are a vampire—your mind is exactly the same as that of a human… And it's very human of you to expect from me to care about something like this."
Cael nodded. "I know. Dragons only care for themselves, but here a whole lot of you works together! Doesn't that mean that you care for the society you've built?"
The Void snorted. "What a foolish idea. Tell me, vampire, when you look at a termite mound and see the society they've built—do you think termites care for other termites in the mound?"
Cael paused. 'Is this a rhetorical question?' he wondered.
But no, the Void stayed silent, apparently waiting for the answer.
'Termites? They are just insects. And they are fairly rare in the Kingdom of the Bear. There were more ants and bees…' he thought. 'No, this isn't really about insects. This is about dragons.'
