She thought she was being discreet until Lucius, without any expression, asked, "Want some?"

Caught off guard, Scarlett looked up.

Lucius, still half-asleep, lazily said without looking up, "Have someone get you one."

Scarlett quickly shook her head, "No need, thank you."

Jack, sitting across from her, looked up and said, "You weren't looking at the cake, were you? You were looking at my uncle?"

Scarlett met Jack's gaze, feeling an urge to sing the national anthem at him. Jack's gaze was challenging, betting that she wouldn't dare do anything in front of Lucius.
