Scarlett and Mia were nestled in the backseat of a private car when Scarlett casually mentioned her free evening and desire to socialize. Mia instantly felt something was amiss. After a bit of digging, her suspicions were confirmed.
Mia quickly responded, "I won't go. This is just giving her an opening to manipulate us. What would Lucius think of you?"
Upon hearing this, the driver glanced back through the rearview mirror. Scarlett reassured him, "Wang, don't mind Mia. Just keep driving."
Wang, an old friend of Mia's father, was treated like family by Mia. They all knew each other well, so there was no need for formalities.
Mia told Scarlett, "You don't need to worry about me. My presence or absence at this gathering won't make a difference. I have my own network. If I were truly clueless, I wouldn't have started my own business."
Scarlett shot back, "Why are you more worried than the person who is directly affected? I didn't say I wasn't going. What's all the fuss about?"
