Power, as elusive as a phantom and as intoxicating as a forbidden elixir, is craved by all yet claimed only by a privileged few. It is an enticement that draws and mesmerizes, dictating diverse paths that are colored by the whims and motivations of those who seek it.
Some seize power for altruistic purposes, wielding their newfound authority to further the causes of justice and benevolence in the world. These admirable spirits serve as unsung heroes, laboring tirelessly to uplift the underprivileged.
Yet, there are others who become ensnared by power, using it solely to enrich themselves, driven by relentless avarice and an unquenchable desire for supremacy. They are prepared to trample anyone who stands in their way, all in the name of solidifying their dominance and broadening their influence.
Power, once obtained, often becomes a beacon for those possessed by a similar hunger for authority. Such was the case with the Immortal Demon, a figure whose formidable power and sway sent ripples of trepidation throughout the Murim. He assembled his faction six decades ago with his ferocious might and unyielding ambition.
The power of the Immortal Demon was of such magnitude that it drew murim-ins from the furthest reaches of the Xuanjie Realm, all thirsting for the enigmatic and seemingly elusive Ki of Eternity. This formidable power endowed the Immortal Demon not only with an unceasing stream of Spiritual Qi, akin to an eternal flame, but also granted him the cataclysmic power rivalling that of the Abyssal Queens
Thus, he was known and feared as "The Immortal Demon."
His devout followers, undying in their loyalty, fervently preached the Immortal Demon's indestructibility, furthering the aura of his mythic status.
To counter this burgeoning threat, various sects within the Murim united to form the Murim Alliance. This potent coalition was born out of a shared resolve to confront and quell the seemingly unstoppable menace of the Immortal Demon Sect.
The struggle between the Murim Alliance and the Immortal Demon Sect persisted for centuries, evolving into a brutal and unending conflict. The Immortal Demon Sect, with its intricate web of branches and the awe-inspiring power of its leader, held its own against the Murim Alliance's combined might, epitomizing the seductive charm of power and the extremes one would go to possess it.
To maintain its dominant position, the Immortal Demon Sect employs a complex structure of multiple branches. Each branch specializes in honing distinct skills or techniques, with members rigorously trained to excel in their respective disciplines. The most gifted among them are invited to join the central branch of the Immortal Demon Sect.
The central branch, the "Pit of Eternity," houses the cream of the sect, the ones who epitomize the sect's power. They are responsible for maintaining the reputation of the Immortal Demon Sect as a formidable force within the Murim.
Within the enigmatic structure of the Immortal Demon Sect, there exists a covert branch known to a chosen few as the "Hades' Veil." Comprising shadow warriors and sentinels who function from the obscurity of darkness, they ceaselessly ensure the integrity of the Sect's interests.
The Hades' Veil, the most feared and infamous faction within the Sect, are celebrated for their cold-blooded efficiency and steadfast loyalty. Trained in the clandestine arts of assassination, subterfuge, and influence, they can extinguish any threat to the Sect with horrifying precision.
The Hades' Veil operates beneath a cloak of shadows, their existence known only to the highest echelons of the Immortal Demon Sect. This guarantees their ability to operate in ghostlike anonymity, thereby evading any undesired attention from the world beyond their realm.
With this intricate network of branches, the Immortal Demon Sect has firmly cemented itself as a formidable force within the world of cultivation. Each branch contributes to the overarching might of the Sect, with the Hades' Veil serving as a concealed blade, unseen yet terrifying. The relentless pursuit of power and dominance by the Immortal Demon Sect personifies the seductive lure of power and the extraordinary lengths individuals are prepared to traverse to acquire it.

[Immortal Demon Sect]
The Immortal Demon Sect is located in a secluded valley, nestled amidst a range of towering, jagged peaks that could easily be mistaken for colossal sentinels standing guard. The valley is shrouded in an omnipresent mist, as if a gauzy veil has been draped over it, lending it an otherworldly, ethereal aura. The air is heavy with a potent blend of the wild flora that carpets the valley and the lingering scent of minerals from the mountains.
At the heart of the valley, like a dark gem set amidst emerald foliage, is the Citadel of Shadows, the central hub of the Immortal Demon Sect. This grand, imposing structure is a magnificent testament to architectural prowess, resonating with a distinct gothic appeal. It's built from a unique obsidian-like stone, lending the edifice a darkly resplendent quality that glimmers ominously under the moonlight.
The citadel stands in stark contrast to its surroundings, an indomitable presence against the softer aspects of the valley. Gothic arches, flying buttresses, and towering spires reach up towards the heavens, their sharp angles and imposing height a reminder of the power that the Immortal Demon Sect holds. At the peak of the largest spire, a gargantuan gargoyle looms, its stone gaze forever scanning the horizon, a silent and stoic sentinel.
The interior of the citadel is a labyrinth of hallways and chambers, each room brimming with ornate tapestries, grand chandeliers and imposing sculptures. The walls are adorned with intricate bas-reliefs, their haunting beauty a stark contrast to the formidable aura of the citadel.
Within the deepest recesses of the Citadel of Shadows, the Throne Chamber of the Immortal Demon lay bathed in a dim, crimson glow. The chamber was massive, its high ceiling lost in darkness, with great, obsidian pillars standing like silent sentinels. Draped in thick, velvety shadows, the walls of the chamber were adorned with grotesque sculptures and dramatic murals depicting the Sect's victories and its relentless pursuit of power. The sole source of light was a monstrous, ruby-studded chandelier hanging precariously above a colossal throne made of bone and blackened iron.
Seated upon the throne was the Immortal Demon, a figure as imposing as the atmosphere of the chamber. He was a giant of a man, cloaked in an aura of insurmountable power and dread. His features were hard and sharp, like they'd been carved from stone, eyes glowing an eerie, hypnotic green that held an ageless wisdom and a touch of cruel mirth. His hair, as dark as the night, cascaded down his back, interwoven with thin braids adorned with tiny, glinting skulls. Clad in an ornate armor of obsidian and crimson, an emblem of an open mawed dragon emblazoned on his chest, he exuded an air of brutal majesty.
A quiet rustle of parchment echoed in the chamber as a cloaked figure, one of his advisors, approached the throne, a scroll unfurling in his hands. The advisor bowed low before beginning, his voice echoing ominously within the stone confines.
"Lord Hades, the war escalates. The Divine Feather Sect has launched a series of attacks. They have stormed the eastern front, taking over the Jade Snake Fortress. We have also lost the Sky Soaring Peaks in the north to the Crimson Lotus Clan and the Silver Fang Sect has laid siege to the Southern Azure City."
As the litany of assaults and losses unfurled, the Immortal Demon sat still as stone, his gaze fixed on a grand, parchment map of their territories spread across a table before him, each region marked with their own and their enemies' banners. His expression remained inscrutable as he processed the information, his green eyes glinting dangerously in the dim light.
"Summon the Hades' Veil," he finally ordered, his voice deep and resonating, a storm about to break. "It seems the time has come for us to remind our enemies exactly why they should fear the Immortal Demon Sect."
.....
Beneath the Citadel of Shadows, an unspeakable horror unfolded in the subterranean depths. The Hades' Veil, a secretive and feared faction of the Immortal Demon Sect, stood in grim silence around a dark, pulsating portal. This ominous chasm, eternally restless and unnaturally hungry, was the gateway to the abyss. The eerie indigo glow it emitted cast an otherworldly pallor on the stone walls of the chamber, heightening the sense of impending doom.
Arranged in an unnerving circle around this portal were the members of Hades' Veil, their faces hidden beneath dark, hooded robes. Their silhouettes, devoid of any humanity, resembled specters attending a macabre spectacle.
As soon as the Immortal Demon, Hades, descended into the depths of the citadel, an uncanny silence swept over the chamber. It was as if time itself dared not breathe in his presence. His entrance was like the onset of twilight, a prelude to a night of terror, echoing through the chasm of the abyss. His sinister green eyes illuminated the cavernous gloom with an eerie luminescence.
The moment he entered, the members of Hades' Veil fell to their knees, their foreheads touching the cold stone floor in an act of profound reverence. The chamber reverberated with their synchronized whispers of, "Praise Lord Hades," echoing like a chilling litany in the cold, damp caverns. The atmosphere was permeated with a sense of omnipotence that was inseparable from Hades.
The head of Hades' Veil, his face hidden beneath the shadow of his hood, lifted his gaze to meet the Immortal Demon's. A shiver of anticipation, akin to a gust of wind stirring the dead leaves, swept across the chamber as he declared, "We are ready, my lord. The ultimate weapon of the Immortal Demon Sect is prepared."
A predatory smile unfurled on Hades' lips, like a serpent basking in the sun after a successful hunt. He stepped forward, his towering figure casting an ominous shadow across the chamber. His gaze fell upon the sarcophagus that lay in the center of the room, illuminated under the chilling glow of spectral lanterns.
The sarcophagus was a monstrous thing, hewn from obsidian and engraved with intricate glyphs that glowed an unholy green. Pipes, pulsating with a dark energy, were interconnected from the sarcophagus to the abyss portal, as though they were arteries of an unholy beast. The sight of this sinister contraption was a stark reminder of the lengths the sect would go to maintain their dominance.
Inside the sarcophagus was the corpse of the infamous spirit Queen, Vishuchika, her name synonymous with calamity. The Queen's final form, frozen in death, was a terrifying spectacle. Her scaled skin, as black as a moonless night, was covered in spikes as sharp as dragon's teeth. Her head, resembling a grotesque mix of a serpent and a human, was crowned by a mane of flaming hair. Even in death, her six arms, each clutching a weapon, projected an air of menace and unbridled ferocity.
For a moment, Hades admired the corpse, his smile growing wider at the sight of the defeated Queen. The Immortal Demon gestured to his loyal subjects and commanded, "Open the portal."
At his command, the abyss portal roared to life. A vortex of indigo energy spiraled outwards, creating a void that threatened to devour everything within its vicinity. The chamber echoed with a low, ethereal hum, an eerie lullaby from the unknown depths of the abyss.
As the portal expanded, the sarcophagus was slowly lowered into it. The heavy stone container, once a resting place for a powerful creature, now serves as a vessel for an unthinkable horror. The pipes connected to the sarcophagus thrummed with energy, siphoning the essence of Vishuchika, preparing to birth the ultimate weapon of the Immortal Demon Sect.
As the sarcophagus disappeared into the swirling void, Hades' chilling laughter echoed through the chamber.
The Murim was about to witness the true power of the Immortal Demon Sect, a power that would be etched in the annals of history as a testament to the allure and the horror of the relentless pursuit for dominance.
--------------------------------------------
For many moons, the Citadel of Shadows, a loathsome fortress of evil had been the stage for an atrocious experiment, under the insidious leadership of Charon, the overseer of Hades' Veil. Like a grim ferryman, he guided not souls to their peaceful rest but dragged them into an infernal abyss of suffering and despair, all with an unshakeable commitment to his vile task.
From the farthest reaches of the Xuanjie Realm, pregnant women of various species - humans, elves, orcs, and others - were collected, their bodies brimming with the promise of new life. However, in this twisted place, their impending motherhood was a horrific curse, a precursor to a fate that defied all understanding.
Dominating this monstrous tableau was a portal, swirling with indigo hues, a gateway to an unimaginable hell. Before it was a device of grotesque design, appearing akin to a mechanical representation of a woman's womb. Its stark, bone-white form was peppered with disturbing illustrations of grotesque fetuses, each detail a stark reminder of its sinister purpose.
Maelis and hundreds of others were led towards this abyss, their surroundings transforming into an unimaginable nightmare. The chamber floor itself seemed to writhe and shift, becoming a morass of faces frozen in agony. They screamed silently, a viscous white fluid seeping from their mouths and coalescing into grotesque eggs that floated eerily towards the machine's organic-like tubes.
The tubes pulsed ominously, each throb pulling the eggs further into the dark portal's depths. The central, womb-like component of the machine appeared more monstrous with each passing moment, its veins throbbing with an unnatural life force, each one burrowing into the void's abyss.
Under the icy gaze of Charon, Maelis and the others were forced to recite a chilling mantra in Sanskrit. Their voices filled the chamber, the ancient words, "Vidmahe mahākāyāya dhīmahi, tanno dantī prachodayāt" echoing off the cold stone, a spectral chorus that invoked an aura of dread.
The disconcerting echoes of the Sanskrit mantra reverberated through the chamber, punctuating the air with an ominous dread. As the haunting verses reverberated, the women began to distort in grotesque parodies of their former selves. Their bodies, once brimming with the promise of life, shriveled and liquefied into ungodly shapes, melding into the stone floor beneath them. Each transformation was a spectacle of agony, the women's screams of despair a gruesome soundtrack to their inhuman metamorphosis.
The agonized faces, now a part of the stone, stared up in eternal horror, their mouths weeping a viscous, white fluid that gathered into pulsating orbs, a macabre facsimile of the eggs they had been destined to bear. The echoes of their tormented cries lingered in the air, a chilling testament to their suffering, seemingly absorbed and then regurgitated by the eternally agonized faces embedded in the floor.
A palpable wave of terror swept over the remaining women as they witnessed the horrifying fate of their companions. Frantic panic sparked futile attempts at escape, but these were brutally quashed. Decapitated heads rolled gruesomely across the floor, their wide-eyed expressions of terror a chilling admonition to the rest, eternally marking the consequences of defiance.
The cacophony of terror, the monstrous transformations, the cruelly enforced obedience - all painted a nightmarish tableau of despair. Through this grotesque spectacle, Charon and his Hades' Veil remained unmoved. They stood as emotionless observers of this obscene process, their icy detachment a stark contrast to the inhuman atrocities being perpetrated as the forced the remaining women to start chanting.
One by one, the eggs formed from the essence of these women were drawn into the sinuous tubes, their rhythmic pulsations in grotesque harmony with the process of ingestion. Each egg that disappeared into the abyss marked the extinguishment of another life, another soul damned to oblivion. The depths to which the Immortal Demon Sect was willing to sink were manifestly evident in this gruesome spectacle.

[ Maelis's POV ]
I am Maelis. A constant thought, a tether, binding me to my dwindling existence as I felt myself dragged ever closer to the dreadful abyss. An uncanny warmth seeped into me, evoking the eerie stillness preceding a vicious storm. The abyss radiated a blinding indigo light that devoured all semblance of reality around it, obscuring everything beyond its terrifying mouth.
As I descended into its maw, the unearthly light embraced me, consumed me, presenting a paradoxical beauty tainted with profound terror. The agonized cries of my fellow women faded, swallowed whole by the abyss, their bodies and souls forfeit.
And then, the torture commenced. It was not a physical pain, not a sensation that could be bandaged or healed. This was an internal mutilation, an invasive force tearing away at the core of my existence. It seemed to be gnawing away at my very being, eroding the essence of 'Maelis'.
A raw, primal scream echoed out from me, a mournful sound swallowed by the relentless void. I instinctively cradled my belly, attempting to shield my unborn child from the monstrous horror that sought to unmake us. Yet, the harder I struggled, the stronger the abyss pulled.
As my identity crumbled, my memories began to dissolve, like a precious painting drowned in a torrent of relentless rain. My past, my family, the triumphs and heartbreaks, the budding joy of carrying a life within me, everything began to fade, replaced by an all-encompassing darkness.
"Maelis," I uttered into the void, my voice a whisper of defiance against the consuming darkness. It was my anchor, the only shard of my existence that I clung onto. "I am Maelis," I repeated like a mantra, even as the abyss sought to erase it. Each utterance was a battle, a desperate plea against oblivion.
The abyss was relentless, its agony so intense that it transcended the realm of physical pain. My consciousness flickered, my sense of 'self' disintegrating into the engulfing emptiness. I felt myself turning hollow, the abyss devouring my spirit and leaving behind a grotesque husk.
Suddenly, amidst the oppressive blackness, something shimmered. An ethereal light, a tiny beacon of hope: my unborn child. In the silence of the void, the figure of my baby appeared, suspended, surrounded by the merciless abyss. An image that would haunt me in the realm beyond existence.
Then, the abyss stirred. Monstrous eyes emerged from the darkness, horrifying and soulless. They were cold and colorless, emitting an aura of dreadful inevitability. They were the eyes of a cosmic predator, an executioner, a devourer.
Fear pulsed through me, raw and primitive, as those monstrous eyes settled on my child. I wanted to wail, to rage, to shield my baby from this terrible fate. But the abyss muted my pleas and left me to watch in helpless silence as a nightmarish maw appeared beneath those terrible eyes.
A grotesque mouth full of teeth that resembled shards of void. As this maw neared my child, a surge of terror washed over me. It was the terror of a mother, a protector, helpless against the inexorable approach of death. I could only watch as the abyss claimed my child.
"No!" I cried in vain, my plea devoured instantly by the engulfing darkness. The cruel maw enclosed around my baby, a sight so agonizing that it eclipsed any physical pain. Then, silence. The maw closed, the abyssal eyes blinked, and my child was lost to the void.
I am Maelis, I repeated, even as the world around me started to warp and twist.
My consciousness transformed, shattering into a sea of fragmented selves. Like specters, they floated in the inky black void, pieces of Maelis adrift in an alien landscape. They flickered and danced in the abyss, a tragic ballet of obliteration.
Among the shards of my splintered selves, I discerned an enigmatic shape – an entity that defied all earthly comprehension. This colossal form towered over the fragments of my shattered consciousness, its massive silhouette casting an ominous shadow against the maelstrom of the abyss.
I knew not of this being. I only sensed a nameless dread that eclipsed any terror I had previously known, a fear birthed from the unknown, from the incomprehensible. I found myself christening this awe-striking entity as Vishuchika, a moniker conjured from the deepest recesses of my fading selfhood.
Vishuchika, the avatar of cataclysm, was a sight that threatened to shatter sanity. Her form dwarfed all reality, her hulking presence an unnerving testament to her unfathomable power. With a morbid fascination, I watched as her titanic form sprawled across the abyssal skyline, a spectacle that defied all senses.
Then, the abyss above us shifted, morphed. A solitary, monstrous eye opened, hovering in the void. It bore down upon us, an omnipresent observer scrutinizing its doomed spectators. As the eye shed an impossibly vast tear, an overwhelming sense of despair swept over me.
The tear fell, a cosmic droplet of melancholy that cascaded onto us within the abyss. Upon its touch, reality seemed to warp, dissolve. All that I recognized, as grotesque and fragmented as it had become, began to blur and change, evaporating into the void of the abyss. The tear was as an eraser, expunging our very existence, annihilating the remnants of our prior selves.
My scattered consciousness, all that remained of Maelis, began to dissolve, vanishing into the abyss's unending maw. My memories, hopes, dreams, everything that I once was and could have been, were erased by this cosmic lamentation.
"I am Maelis…" I whispered into the void, clutching desperately at the last remnants of my identity.
But the abyss was relentless, its insatiable hunger swallowing my plea.
And then, there was nothingness.
Only the abyss.
An infinite, pitiless void.
