Capítulo 501: Your fears

He sighed as he took a sip, and he had to admit that he did feel a little bit calm. Or maybe it was just that he started to feel relief from all the stress he had carried the entire day.

"I'm not overreacting Natasha." said Dom as he looked at Natasha while she sat down on the other couch and closed her laptop.

"I know you're not." she replied.

"But you forget that there's two sides of the story here, yours and Lulu's. There are two different people feeling different things right now." she said.

"I know that you care about your sister, why wouldn't you? She's your sister. And I know that you just want to protect her and make her feel safe, but right now, it's proven that she doesn't want you present, she doesn't want you hovering around her." she said.

"But I'm not." Dom replied helplessly.

"Am I supposed to just leave her alone like that? Is it now a crime to be worried?" he asked in exasperation.

"It's not a crime to be worried, you have every right to be worried." said Natasha as Dom sipped his tea.

"All I'm saying is that you should try to be more understanding. You're afraid, and Lulu's afraid, but the two of you are afraid of different things in this situation." said Natasha.

"You're afraid of not being able to protect her at all times, you're afraid that she's scared, you're afraid that something bad could have happened to her, and I get it, I feel the same, but I wasn't there in that moment to know just how seriously gut wrenching it was to hear the elevator crash and think that she was in there." said Natasha.

"But keep in mind that Lulu's fears are different from yours. She nearly died, thank God that she's safe, but she almost did, she had a near death experience. Now different people handle that situation in different ways, and right now, she wants to be alone." said Natasha, she knew that both siblings could be as stubborn as hell.

So for the sake of peace and understanding in this house, she felt that she was the only one who could stop a dangerous fire from catching flame. Lulu was not herself, and Dom was in his overprotective brother mode, they were sure to offend each other in this state even though they both meant well.

"You just need to calm down, don't let your fears influence hers. I know you want to take care of her, but the best thing you can do now is show her that you are always here for her, which she already knows, so just give her time." said Natasha as Dom sighed.

"I care for Lulu just as much as you do, believe you me, I was scared when I heard what happened, but I have enough experience to know that people need time to deal with things are their own pace. We can't rush them, neither can we slow them down, we can only support them." she said as she hoped that all her words were not just entering into empty space.

But from the look on Dom's face she could tell that he was listening.

"And I am interfering because I know you, and I know Lulu, and quite frankly, life has been very peaceful lately, I don't want your stubbornness to ruin the calm atmosphere at home right now." she said.

"Alright I get it, you're right, you're right, I will leave her alone." said Dom with a defeated sigh. Natasha's tone suggested that if he did not listen to her warning, he might as well leave the house for a while until he cooled off.

"I don't think you do, or at least not with that tone of yours, you still sound very much pissed." said Natasha as she was starting to regret not asking Alfred to also make her a cup of tea.

"I'm just so angry because I had to fire that idiotic technician? Can you imagine that he was called when the malfunction happened and instead of responding quickly, he went off to God knows where, to do God knows what!" said Dom in rage.

Natasha had never seen him this angry before, and yes, the situation truly was upsetting, but at this rate, he would end up exploding if he did not manage to calm down soon.

"Just what the hell was I paying him for if he didn't take his job seriously?! Now we have to find another technician and hire him to fix the mess." said Dom.

"And can you imagine that Michael found out that the malfunction happened because the elevator was not brand new as I thought it was. It was nothing but a second hand, reused elevator from an old mall resold to us as brand new!" he said as Natasha shook her head.

"Seriously?" she asked.

"Seriously!" Dom replied.

"Can you imagine how everyone's life has been in danger not only because of that incompetent technician, but also because of that useless company seeking to make an extra profit by selling us old machinery!" said Dom.

"That really is very outrageous." she said.

"Drink more tea." Natasha reminded him as he drank without hesitation and instantly continued his rant afterwards.

"I'm not even that angry with the fraud, what makes me angry was that, the lives of several innocent employees were at risk and I didn't even know." said Dom his tone calmer.

"If anything had happened to them, the blame would be on me, the owner of the company." he said.

"The technician is even lucky that it was Lulu in there, if it was anyone else, they probably wouldn't have made it out of there, and even if they did, I would be sued." said Dom.

"I don't even care about a lawsuit, I don't care about the money, what I care about is the fact that innocent lives could have been seriously harmed by his insubordination and incompetence." said Dom.

"Drink more tea." Natasha reminded again as she could hear the calmness of his tone compared to how enraged he was a few moments ago.

"I guess what enrages me so much is that when problems happen in companies such as mine, everyone is quick to cast the blame at the top. They blame the owner, when meanwhile, the owner can't possibly do everything himself, so he hires people, he delegates the work and gives out orders." said Dom as he drank his tea.

"Now, if the employees don't carry out their duties and do what they were ordered to do, that will inevitably cause problems, and that in turn will show at the top." said Dom.

"Everyone's talking about corruption and how the people at the top as full of it, meanwhile, they seem to forget that individuals can be corrupt themselves." said Dom.

"How can there truly be a change when the change doesn't start from you?" he asked.

"And it just makes me sad because I know that there are several workers in the company that are guilty of the technician's incompetence, they don't do what their supposed to." said Dom.

"They might go unnoticed for a while, but sooner or later the cracks will start to show, and it will affect everyone." said Dom as he sighed.

"If you're so worried about how serious the employees are taking their jobs and duties, then why don't you address it?" asked Natasha as Dom looked at her.

"How?" he asked.

"I don't know, maybe by setting up a press conference addressing this matter of incompetence." said Natasha.

"After all, awareness is the first step to change." said Natasha as realization washed over Dom.

"But don't mind me, I was only suggesting." she said with a shrug.

"No you're right, you're absolutely right. Instead of sitting here complaining, I should do something about it." he said.

"Not only will I address the situation, but I will also state penalties for anyone caught not doing their duties well. After all, firing is easy to do, but punishment will allow a lesson to be learnt." said Dom as Natasha nodded, agreeing with him.

"Well good luck with that." she replied as Michael suddenly entered the living room.

"Hi Dom." he said as he looked at Dom.

"Hi Natasha." he said a she smiled at Natasha.

"Hi Michael." said Natasha as she smiled at him.

"Here, I saw Alfred on his way here to give this to you, so I decided to help him out." said Michael as he handed her a cup of tea.

"Oh thank you Michael, that's very nice of you." said Natasha as she smiled and sipped her tea. Oh bless Alfred, he knew that she would want some tea as well.

"Don't mention it." he replied.

"So where is Lulu?" he asked.

"In her room, she wants to be alone, and she's upset with me." said Dom as he drank his tea and Michael sat down beside him.
