They stood there hugging each other for a while before they parted the hug.
Emmet who was on the side had a large grin on his face, the same could be said about Edythe, and even Jasper had a small smile on his face at the sight of the two.
It was at this moment that they heard the bell ring inside the school, causing them to turn and face the building.
"Well, it seems like it's time we headed back to school isn't it?" Alex said as he motioned to the school building with his head.
"Or we could just skip couldn't we?" Alice said and Bella was quick to nod her head.
Alex smiled at them and shook his head.
"We'll have all the time in the world after school hours and I wanted to meet some of the guys there too," Alex said as he looked at Alice.
She seemed to almost pout before nodding her head slowly.
"Fine, you can meet your boyfriend Mike" Alice muttered though she was clearly heard by everyone in the group, causing Emmet to start laughing like a madman as he always did.
Even Alex couldn't hold his chuckles back as he responded.
"Of course, now then shall we get going? I don't want the teacher to not let me inside the class on the first day" Alex said as he and the rest started walking toward the front gates of Forks High School.
Looking around, Alex felt nostalgia hit him like a train wreck.
'It's only been three months but so much has changed,' Alex thought as he walked through the front gate.
Everyone around him also looked like they had matured a little, and showed signs of growing up just a tad at least everyone besides him and the Cullens.
Alex countered that thought almost immediately as he shook his head minutely.
'No, I guess it's just the Cullens who haven't changed at all.' Alex thought as he remembered the actions he had taken, the lessons he had learned, and the past he had discovered.
To say that he wasn't the same person anymore would be an understatement.
He had changed, changed so much that sometimes when he looked in the mirror, he couldn't even see his past self anymore.
Back when he had first come to this world, he still could imagine his old face, his old body, and his old self in the mirror, however nowadays? That image had almost completely faded.
It truly was a change on a fundamental level and not just on the outside.
Walking through the halls, the group quickly disbanded as each went to their own classes.
Leaving Alex to walk through the student-filled halls on his own.
It didn't take long for him to arrive in front of his English classroom.
Opening the door, Alex headed inside without as much as a thought.
Once inside he quickly looked around and found who he was looking for.
There, at the back of the class next to the windows were two boys who he had been eager to meet since returning.
The two had truly been good friends to Alex and had helped him more than almost anyone as he had been adapting to this familiar but strange new world he had been transported to.
Walking to the two directly, Alex raised his hand and gave the boys a wave.
"Hey, it's been a while. Mike, Eric." Alex said with a smile on his face.
The sound of his voice caused what appeared to be whiplash to the two as they immediately turned their heads toward him with their eyes wide open.
*Screech*
With a loud screeching sound Mike almost threw his chair behind him and quickly got up to give Alex a clap of his hands whilst hugging his shoulder in a friendly way.
"Yo, Alex. How have you been man?" Mike said with a large grin on his face as he faced the person who he considered one of his best friends in life.
Eric quickly followed Mike and gave Alex a light shoulder hug as well.
"I've been well guys, just roaming around the States and living life I guess. How about you two?" Alex asked as he walked to the desk and grabbed a chair making it so all three could sit next to each other.
The two followed him and sat down back on their seats.
"Well we've been good man, there really wasn't much we could do around here in Forks, we just played basketball all summer and went to the beach from time to time," Mike said before Alex gave him a peculiar look.
*Sigh*
"All right fine, I'll tell you everything that happened," Mike said before turning to Eric who gave the two a knowing smile and started rambling on all the things that had happened around the two.
Every single gossip, every single accident, everything.
The boy was like some historian at this point, Alex thought as he sat there and listened to him.
However, he couldn't get rid of the feeling that was slowly growing in his mind.
'How bland' Alex thought as he kept listening to the boy, if before these stories had felt interesting and even immersive.
Now they all felt like children's dramas, felt like nothing in the face of the real world.
'I guess it's to be expected' Alex thought as he sighed inwardly.
He had spent all of summer doing things that people would only expect to see in movies and now he was back in a normal school, attending a normal class and listening to gossip about how the football team coach had cheated on his wife.
It felt boring, to say the least.
Alex had understood a part of himself since the beginning of his journey.
He was addicted to dopamine, and back when he was in Forks, he had tried to find all kinds of ways to experience that.
Be it from hearing curious stories and all the way to driving the Porsche past speed limits.
However, he had found out in his three months that there was only one way for him to truly feel that exhilarating feeling.
It was battles of pure raw power.
