[Third person POV]
Many thoughts races through Carman's mind as he pondered the significance of the small token in his hand. The Fatui had started tailing him, how long have they been doing so? How did they know he was visiting the orphanage today?
The last question was the easiest to figure out. He knew that the House of the Hearth had already sent it's people to infiltrate the orphanage and get more information on him when he was living there. Apparently they hadn't all left by the time he sent his letter. However, with the time between sending the letter to the matron and today, there was plenty of time for the Fatui to locate Livre's workshop and send people to spy on them.
With Ryuzu's perception, it was unlikely they they would have been able to follow him unnoticed, but the problem was that he wasn't always with Ryuzu when he went to and from the workshop.
Had he been followed? Did they know which apartment he lived in? It seemed that he would have to up security in the rooms just in case.
"Carman, your looking a bit pale, want to go get a bite to eat before we drop this document off at the courthouse?" Asked Livre.
Shaking his head Carman responded, "no, I'm fine, let's get this over with as soon as possible, then maybe get something to celebrate?"
Softly smiling Livre said, "Sure, it'll be my treat, anything you want in particular?."
Carman pondered a bit while walking alongside Livre, "how about a bowl of that onion soup you talk about from time to time? Never had a chance to try it."
As Carman said this, Livre's eyes lit up, "Of course, I'll take you to the place that makes the best soup here in the city, the building is a bit run down, but they more than make up for it with the quality and price of their food."
As they walked down the streets of Fontaine, Ryuzu once again excused herself, saying that she needed to use the loo. When Livre asked if they should wait up for her, she said there was no need and that she would catch up.
In reality Ryuzu had just noticed the Fatui agents has regrouped and were following them again, as she split off from Carman and Livre she noticed that one of the spies had split off as well to follow herslipping into a building, she asked for the location of the toilet, after being given the rout, she made her way to a secluded area and quickly redonned her Pale Lady clothes. Afterward she carefully exited the building from a different exit and searched for the Fatui who was following her. Spying the agent on top of a building on the opposite side of the street if the one she had just emerged from, Ryuzu carefully circled round the agent and once again knocked them out, it was slightly more difficult this time as the Fatui was more cautious of being sneaked up on again after being caught and moved around the city this morning, however her caution ment little compared to the skills of the annoyed Ryuzu.
After knocking the agent out Ryuzu carried them off to a backstreet and placed them in a wooden crate with a heavy object placed on top of the lid, after poing some holes in the side of the box so the Fatui wouldn't suffocate, Ryuzu repeated the process, sometimes placing more than one agent per crate.
By the time she was finished Carman and Livre were already leaving the courthouse after handing the adoption document to the clerk on duty.
Catching up with them Ryuzu apologized saying that there was a crowd around a store she got boxed into.
Reunited once more the group headed to a small cafe near the apartment Livre was living in. While the outer appearance was rather run down, the smell wafting out of the windows was heavenly. While Ryuzu wasn't able to smell the fragrance, she could tell from the expressions.on Carman and Livre's faces that it was very pleasant.
After finishing a meal there, the group split up once again, as Livre had to go check on the shop, while Ryuzu and Carman went to collect materials for his first day at the school of military engineering.

sorry for the shorter chapter everyone, wanted to have some continuation from the last one, Carman will be upping the security of his home but I wasn't up to incorporating that into this chapter. the next chapter will be focused on his first day at the military school.
Thanks for reading this far and thank you to everyone who has shown their support in the story so far, been rather drained recently since I'm in the middle of applying for graduate school and the system isn't properly processing my transcripts. I hope to see you all in future chapters.
happy reading.
[Carman POV]
Waking up in the morning was a quick affair today, Ryuzu had discovered that flicking droplets of cold water on my face was an effective method of stirring me awake. Thankfully I had planned ahead and went to bed early last night to avoid being awoken in such a manner.
Getting dressed was a bit difficult as the uniform for the school had a few accessories that I hadn't had to deal with in either of my lives so far. However Ryuzu and I quickly got them sorted out. Due to how early I had risen, there was plenty of extra time between getting dressed and when I would have to leave to make it to the school. Unfortunately Ryuzu insisted that I not gow down into the hidden workshop, citing the times she had to clean oil out of street clothes because I had forgotten or had been to lazy to change. I begrudgingly admitted to her point there, I tend to get too absorbed into my work to the point that I forget minor things like being careful when opening oil reservoirs to make sure they don't spray on my clothes. The number of times Ryuzu had commented that I looked like I was the killer in a robot equivalent of a slasher film were too many to count. It probably wasn't helped by the fact I was basically getting broken constructs for their parts and splicing them together into something new. With my work over the past few weeks, the level of my clockwork engineering and clocksmithing skills had leveled up. With the new knowledge I came closer to understanding certain principles such as the Perpetual Gear from Ryuzu's world but it was still a bit to advanced for me to fully comprehend yet. If I were able to harness the power of dimensions and time the way Y had when constructing his initial Y series, the need for elemental and other energies as a power source would be rendered null. In terms of clockwork engineering, I learn the concept of using components made of alloys infused with elemental energy to achieve certain effects normal not possible, I also received information on the process to make a number of the alloys, including Electeosteel, Hydro silver, and Cryo infused Brass. While these alloys weren't the best for making weapons, they were great at absorbing and storing a particular element.
Each of the alloys also has variants.that produced different effects due to the different ratios of the metals used in their creation. I was currently contemplating a variant of Cryo infused Brass, that would cause its surface to experience a complete lack of friction against anything rubbed against it. It would also absorb heat from any object it makes contact with to a certain degree. There were a few things I could do with such a metal but unfortunately I did not have access to a few of the materials required that held the Cryo element.
Noting down ideas for substitutions in my notebook I quietly ate the large breakfast Ryuzu had prepared. After about an hour, we headed out the sun had barely started it's climb into the sky.
As we neared the school there was a crowd of kids and their parents outside the school doors. There were a number of students with a similar uniform as me, but some of the older students had uniforms made of different colored fabrics. Doing my best to estimate their ages, it seems the oldest students wore white uniforms, the next one down wore light grey, the ones below them wore a navy color and the students that wore uniforms similar to mine were wearing black.
After a few minutes rough looking adults opened the doors and ordered the student to file in in an orderly fashion. Saying goodbye to Ryuzu, I headed in when my cohort was called. I was handed a sheet that informed me that I was expected to attend an orientation in the main lecture hall. After asking around I managed to get instructions on how to get there.
After getting into the hall I took a seat and watched a few stragglers file into the back rows as a tough looking lady made her way o to the stage. As soon as she walked onto the stage the entire room went quite. She did not need a microphone as her voice was easily carried through the air, the stern aura she gave off seemed to be begging for a student to interrupt her.
Despite being extremely intimidating, she welcomed all of us to the academy, introduced us to the ground rules, and ran through some basic information that would be helpful in the coming days, usual orientation stuff. At the end we received locations and codes for storage areas we would be able to store our things and projects during the year. After the orientation and locating my storage area I made my way to the first class of the day, "Physical Equations."

Hey all,
sorry for the small chapter again, just haven't had much time or energy to sit down and write. Allergies have been causing me to get terrible sleep as of late. I'll release Pt.2 on Wednesday. Got accepted into a program I applied for tho, got the news yesterday, so I'm also currently planning out the next few semesters. Its going to be very heavy on classwork, and there will be quite a bit of research involved so I might have to slow down posts once my semester starts. I promise not to drop this so don't worry. I'll also be sure to warn you guys if I do end up having to increase update times.
thanks as always for your time.
