When ethan opened his eyes. He found himself in hospital bed. But Before he can even blink his eyes. Pulses of Intense pain started to throb through his whole body again. Those Sudden pulses of pain made him close his eyes again. It was evident that The his suffering wasn't over just yet.
Ethan made fist with his hands in efforts of bearing the pain. He made fists so hard that his finger started to dig into his palm And blood started to drip from his fist.
It was pain caused by his wracked body unable to hold his own aura. He need to control the aura that was going amok inside his own body. But for that he needed intense focus which was hard while he was busy stopping himself from screaming.
Finally ethan stopped resisting the pain and focused solely on controling his aura. A loud scream of pain made everyone in the hospital to turn their attention here. One after another scream were started echo inside the hospital.
Hearing the screams doctors came running, two male nurses force ethan to the bed to stop him from moving. They tried everything they could but ethan's pain doesn't seemed to get any lower.
But suddenly ethan grabed hand of doctor while trying to suppress his agony. he said in struggling voice "leave..me...alone." feeling his firm grip and doing all they could. Doctor ordered everyone to leave the room and to stay on stand by outside.
Many were gathered on outside the room watching ethan struggling in pain through the glass. Among them peter and gwen were present too. Watching with desperate expressions.
Unable to watch any longer gwen buried her face into Peter's chest. While peter continued to stare at struggling figure of ethan. Cursing at his own helplessness.
After nearly 30 minutes of struggle ethan succeeded in controlling his aura and whole room went silent. With all medication of doctors and exhaustion. ethan went back to sleep again.
Next day, in the morning Ethan opened his eyes, still hazy from all the morfin he was given yesterday. It took few seconds for him to see everything clearly. But as all the sanses started to work again he felt a grip on his hand. So he turn to look around and found out his hand was grabbed by gwen. Who was seating on the chair beside his bed. Sleeping with her head on ethan bed. Little far at the table he saw peter. Sleeping with his head supported by wall.
Ethan tried to move a beat but his whole body was still hurting. Even slightest movement was sending Corrents like pain through his body. His right hand was fractured and theres lots of cuts on his body. But after going through the pain of using his awakening. all this was like just sweet small thing.
Feeling the ethans movement, gwen woke up from her sleep. She Stared at him while he was tring to seat.
Feeling her stare ethan turn and their eyes met. "is it still hurts...??" she asked as she remembered ethan's screams.
"it's bearable now." ethan replied.
"So does he knows ??" ethan asked while turning toward peter.
"that's the first thing you are ask??" she said in disbelief. But before she can continue..
"asking what ??" peter intruptted her while rubbing his eyes
Ethan didn't look at peter and keppt staring at gwen as if to find out if she had told him his secret or not.
"he was asking how long he was sleeping." gwen said to peter.
"you were out for long dude. like month or so... and when you woke up. You suddenly started to scream. Really what happened to you." peter said.
But gwen intruptted him "peter he had just woke up." reminded him to not ask questions now.
"sorry...it just that watching you like that was .... i should go and freshen up, i think." after saying that peter left.
Ethan watched Peter's leaving figure, and turn back to gwen but when their eyes met. "was it worth it ?? All the pain you had gone through..." gwen asked.
It was sudden but ethan was still calm "you tell me ?"
"i was always lived in fear that one day my father will leave for his duty and will never come back." ethan didn't interrupt her and just kept looking at her.
She continued "and then it did happen. Which makes me more worried about peter... but then you also knew that he is spiderman. Which made me at quite ease that there's someone with whome i can my share my worries."
"But later i found out that, That someone was the one who is even more trouble some. ethan, you don't know.... watching you in that state... screaming, while lieing in your own blood. and i can't even talk about it with anyone. it was...it was soul tearing... so tell me....tell me that it was worth it." seeing ethan was not going to respond. She again said.
"as for your question earlier, Peter was blaming himself for not being any help while watching you yesterday. So how you think he will react if he knew that you were the half dead man that is all over the news now. So no...he doesn't know." after saying that she stood up from her chair and started to walk toward exit. But suddenly her steps holted and she turn back and said,
"you really don't realise it, do you?? it's not only you that suffers but people around you too. People, whose life you had influenced." she was certainly angry for asking about if she had told peter about his secret.
Then she left closing the door with...bam!! Leaving ethan alone. But for some reason the loneliness was more comforting for him.
