Capítulo 117: Teacher for a week(5)(corrected)

---Pov Zoe---

'Heavy breathing.'

Plunging my spear to the ground, I leaned against it as I breathed heavily, with my forehead throbbing from all the taps I had received, and the culprit of all this, was looking at me not far away with dusty clothes, but without the slightest sign of fatigue.

"Again!"

Just standing was a struggle, while my vision had begun to blur, a clear sign that I was going into mind down, but I refused to lose so miserably.

"Haaa, look, Zoe, for me we may as well continue, but if you go into mind down, it will take many more hours to recover and that means time taken away from training. What do you want to do then?"

The last remaining energy disappeared after hearing his words and my body fell to the ground tired. My chest was rising and falling quickly as the mix of sweat and dirt on my body gave a strong feeling of discomfort, but even so, I kept my gaze on Mark who approached me.

"Honestly, I don't think you'll have any problems at the War Game. As long as you only fight one opponent you should easily take him down with your spells, maybe level 3 might cause some problems, but if you adopt a guerrilla tactic you should be able to do it."

"You mean defeat them?" -I asked him tiredly.

"I can't give you an exact answer, although your spells are efficient, they lack power, couldn't you combine more elements as you did with that sandstorm?"

"I can, but I would get tired first."

"I see..."

Watching him rub his chin, I wondered what was going through the head of the person in front of me. One of the most promising figures in Orario, and although he might have seemed cold at first glance, it wasn't that bad to be in his company.

"I think I have an idea, but it's best to test it after you've rested, OK?"

Nodding, we walked towards the inn where I immediately collapsed on the bed without even changing.

'Will I dream again?'

That thought crossed my mind, but when I thought of previous cases, I doubted it would happen, but even so, I closed my eyes with a throbbing heart. Unfortunately, the cold truth made me calm down, in fact when I opened my eyes, there was only darkness around me.

'What could I expect?'-I looked down helplessly.

I didn't have many expectations, but there was a part of me that hoped for something because even if it was true that I wanted to become an alchemist skilled enough to create potions for memory recovery, the chances were low. My mother and Al had already made me try several of the best potions and there had been no results, so in case I couldn't create something better, these dreams might be the only way to know who I was.

"Haaaaa... !"

It was when I turned around bored that I saw the door, or rather, part of the door because it was covered in a shadow, like my dreams.

I approached it as fast as I could, but when I tried to open the door it was completely blocked, however, I was satisfied so because...

'There must be some connection.'

This door had only appeared three times since I had arrived at Orario. In the first case, it happened after I used 'Void' and the mind-down effects got the better of me, almost causing me to die against a minotaur. In the second case, it happened after all the events with Apollo Familia and the training on the walls. Finally, the third case was after I had trained on the 18th floor, but the door did not fully form.

The most reasonable hypothesis would be fatigue/danger and that would explain why the door did not form completely. In the first two cases, besides being exhausted, I had to face dangerous situations, while in the third, even though I was fatigued, I was never afraid for my life.

'Maybe it is possible to balance it out if I exhaust every ounce of energy I have. I might as well try, after all, I have nothing to lose.'

---Pov general--

'fush' 'fush'

After Mark and Zoe had returned to the inn, where he rested the bare minimum, he decided to continue training with Infusion but adopted a different method.

He stood in front of a tree and swung his sword, keeping the aura in his eyes. His aim was not to cut the trunk, as that would not be a problem, but rather he only made scratches with the tip of the sword.

Seen by someone else it might seem strange what Mark was doing, but to him, it made more than sense. At first glance, the scratches looked the same, but looking with his aura-enhanced eyes, he could see how the scratches were each different. Some were too deep, others had a non-continuous stroke or the angle was not precise.

So with this training that might seem trivial, Mark was improving both his aura and his skill with the sword.

'I bet if it were Aiz, all the marks would be the same.'

He continued moving his sword for hours so much that the bark of the tree began to be peeled off, he also used aura in different parts of his body wanting to speed up the use of this skill as much as possible.

"?"

Feeling someone watching him, he turned around only to find Zoe looking at him curiously not far away.

"Looks like that tree gave you a lot of trouble to make it like that." -Joked Zoe.

"If you have rested enough, we can go to yesterday's place." -He completely ignored the ironic comment to move on to the main topic.

Seeing her nod, the two began to walk through the forest, which, because of the light passing through the leafy cover of the trees, made the place pleasant to see.

As she followed Mark, Zoe thought of a way she could reach a suitable state of fatigue, and the most efficient method would be to go into mind down, so she planned to use her strongest magics during her sparring with Mark, so she wouldn't be stopped.

When they arrived at the open space of yesterday, Zoe was preparing to fight but was stopped by Mark.

"Remember I told you I wanted to test something with you?"

"Oh, right, you said something like that." -With the dream thing, she had completely forgotten about it.

"As you know, the main role of magicians is to cause as much damage as possible. With the magics you usually use it's difficult as a thing, but I saw potential when you combined more than one element."

"Yes, but as I told you, it's not very cost-efficient."

"Then let's ignore the cost and focus on the power."

"Huh?" -She momentarily froze by Mark's reply.

"But first I have a question for you, although I know it will be unpleasant to answer, however, I need it so I can guide you better. Zoe by any chance can you create any magic you want?"

"!" -Zoe opened her eyes shocked at Mark's words.

"It seems I have guessed right."

He had begun to harbor this doubt as he saw her using more and more magics. At first, he didn't find it too strange, but when he received the affirmation to the question of whether she could combine multiple elements he had the proof. Normally a person would say that he/she had magic with such characteristics, but she said that she could work directly with elements.

''You don't need to look at me like that, if a person spent enough time with you they would understand. Besides, there's no point in me going and telling others about your abilities when you'll be in charge of my potions." -Said Mark trying to convince her.

"Who says you won't tell your Familia?" -Zoe said suspiciously.

"No offense, but you just have a strong magic ability and nothing else that would put my Familia in danger." -Said Mark with a shrug.

"...Haaaa, I'll take that as a lesson for the future." -Lowering her head dejectedly, she knew that denying it now would only be ridiculous.

(shortly after)

"Hmm I see, it is indeed broken."

Zoe told him about her magic, though she didn't go into specifics, anyway the summary was, as long as she imagined magic and named it, she could manifest it.

"Then how can I improve the power of my magic?" -Zoe asked with a certain bitterness in her voice.

"By taking advance of the properties of the elements. Let's start with fire, try to imagine a sphere of air where within it you will store flames. Once you've done that, you'll have to make the air flows from the outside to the inside while continuing to compress the flames, when you can no longer do that, release the compressed fire."

As he explained what to do, he drew on the ground to make things more understandable to Zoe.

The concept was similar to the blowtorch, where large quantities of oxygen and hydrogen were burned to fuel the flames, but the approach he chose was slightly different, almost science fiction by Earth standards. Since the fire was pure energy, he believed that compressing it with oxygenated air would not only increase the strength of the flame, but the continued compression would make the energy increasingly unstable and destructive once released.

"I think I understand in general, but it won't be dangerous will it?" -She looked at him with some suspicion.

"If you do things right, no."

"..." -Zoe was struggling with how to respond.

Sighing, she looked again at the drawings Mark had made and then closed her eyes and began to visualize the spell.

"Would you recommend a name for this magic?" -She asked again with her eyes closed.

"If the result will be the same as the one I have in mind, 'fire blast' should be fine."

Zoe nodded and pointed the spear at a boulder that stood far from them, and began to perform every step.

A bright red fireball formed at the tip of the spear, which she had surrounded by a sphere of air. The air currents began to compress the flames, making them increasingly unstable.

In the meantime, Mark stood behind Zoe, continuing to monitor the state of the magic, and if anything happened, he would take her and move as fast as he could from there.

The more the flames were compressed, the more they wriggled, making it difficult for Zoe to maintain the magic, but even so, the fireball had shrunk to the size of a football ball and had taken on a bluish hue.

"If you can no longer maintain it, release the magic."

Seeing her as she was sweating and from the trembling of her body, Mark found it necessary that Zoe cast the magic before it became impossible for her to control it.

"Fire blast." -Accepting Mark's advice, she cast the magic.

The sphere of air opened allowing the concentrated flames to find an escape route.

'vush!'

With nothing holding it back any longer, a pillar of blue flames was released, traveling swiftly towards the boulder which dissolved almost instantly. The pillar continued and melted everything in its path before it exhausted all its strength.

Before Zoe and Mark's eyes, the scene presented itself as a trail of charred soil several meters long, with no life forms saved, only the hot, dry air was perceptible from the ground.

"...Luckily, we didn't direct it towards the forest."

A dry laugh came out of Mark's mouth, Zoe's magic had far exceeded his expectations. Instead, Zoe remained wide-eyed as she contemplated something terrifying.

'If I had used it with 'void', what would the effects have been?'

In her repertoire, 'fire storm' was her strongest magic, because, in addition to having greater destructive power, it allowed her to hit multiple enemies at once, but as firepower, 'fire blast' had immediately risen to the top.

"Shall we continue?" -Mark asked seeing her still stuck.

"Of course!" -Filled with excitement, Zoe didn't even wait for a second to answer.
