Capítulo 45: A break
-----So I think I'll make a bonus chapter for this one... My internet has been funky so hopeful both are released somewhat on time with each other. Renamed title thought it didn't fit------
After a while every had fought at least once. Except so far only one person had died. With a now uneven number of people and Feng Tai causing it. Half of the group was on edge while the others were a mix of emotion. I had ultimately decided against making an employee out of the twin. Mostly due to me thinking she was going to be taken away for the sake of making things even. She had left the waiting area and I haven't seen her since.
Everyone would now likely try to pass on fighting Feng Tai. Making my more passive stance on fighting harder to up hold. Feng Tai had solidified two things. He would kill freely and without consideration. After all killing only one twin was pretty fucked up.
Wait, That would be implying killing both is okay... Damn, best not to debate about that one anymore. I looked up and saw Azula talking to her father. Lord Ozai wasn't even looking at her and was keeping his eyes on where we sat. I could like make eye contact, but I don't think it would happen. Too far of a distance.
----A park bench with the table and seats connected...----
I leaned back and laid my arms across the bench. "Hey! Hio!"
"Yeah?" He was looking down in his own thoughts. "You won fight and all, so I want to know. If you fight Feng do you think you can win?"
He looked around, trying to find the person in question. The guy in question was across the area and couldn't hear us unless he had some sort of super hearing. "Honestly, no. I think he is way to fast and I'm not skilled enough to fight him...however I think the same goes for you. You seem unmoving, like nothing matters? I think if you were born an earthbender you would be one of the best. Do you get what I mean?"
I did. He was referencing what he study of the earth kingdom. The idea that earthbenders stand their ground. Personality played a big part in how your bending develops. For earthbenders being stoic makes them stronger. For Fire benders it was excitement, not just anger or what not. That's why Azula was so powerful, or at least one of the many. For waterbenders it was something like calmness or being patient. Leaving airbenders free? No that wasn't right. It was more like going with the flow. It was the opposite of earthbenders.
Hio was silent thinking about it just I was. The problem was Hio was slightly wrong. I wasn't stoic, I just knew a bit about the future. So i didn't really fear anything since I had the ability to get stronger faster than most others. I had an outside perspective on bending, as well as being focused enough to train to absurdity.
I closed my eyes, Hio spoke up though. "Do you think you can beat him?"
"Yes, but at a cost." Hio sounded confused, I didn't look at him, but his next question made it obvious. "Wh-Cost? At what cost?" Hearing it back i slightly cringed at my words, but it was fine. "i would need to fight with techniques that I learned, but honestly don't like."
Hio came close to me and whispered... "*Lightning bending right? I heard you zapped Feng Tai a while back. What's the difference of using it then and now.*"
"The audience, Azula was technically the only audience then. At least the only one that mattered for the use."
"Since only the...that few people can use it." I nodded, Hio's attempt at secrecy was obvious. However telling that everyone around us had likely heard the rumor of me using lighting it really didn't matter. "Yeah, I won't go into detail, but your spot on."
"Hmmm, so if you fight him you have to fight with some seriousness or at the cost of your secrets."
"Yup."
"Ugh! This so annoying. Why are we still waiting!"
Alexia had came over and sat down with us. "Why are you two looking so serious."
"Nothing much."
"Y-yeah, nothing much Alexia!"
"You don't have to shout..."
"Anywhoooo, the waiting is on purpose. As you can see some are becoming anxious. It causes stress and all that. Likely Azula's idea to test how everyone handles this. After all the best become like her guards right? Point is you will have a lot of waiting and that can cause strain for some."
I remembered a captain who fucked up one of Azula's plans in the show. it was when she was tricking Zuko with bring him home. She likely was trying to plan to prevent things like that. However thinking about it, would that event still happen?
I wanted to slam my head into the bench. I just brought up a question about...I don't even know what it would be. Fate? Time? Fucking Causality? The event is important in the show as it shows the discontent between the two siblings while showcasing Azula's nature. So theoretically it shouldn't happen due to the butterfly effect and blah blah blah. However by perspective... A spirit could act as an all-seeing observer causing such events to occur due tot eh process of changing an object by watching it. I wasn't too sure on the science behind that, but it made me start thinking on a tangent.
"You two ever just think about things and you sort of wonder into a tangent that you can't stop yourself from thinking about?"
The two had different answers. "All the time, however it is mostly just about what I want to draw." "Only when I am getting ready for bed."
"Greeeeaaaat. Thanks for the relatablity."
"Was that question rhetorical then?"
"Yes, Yes it was. As I was using it to stop my bird-walking."
"Bird-walking?"
"I think he means letting his mind wander."
I dropped my head onto the bench with a thunk. Honestly these two might be made for each other. As their conversation drifted.
