Capítulo 38: V.1-C.38│World War Begins V│

Kumogakure, a Hidden Village within the Land of Lightning.

As the village of one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Kumogakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Raikage. The village is located in a range of tall mountains, and is literally hidden in the clouds.

The standard attire for Kumo shinobi consists of a long, grey top which gathers just at the waist to give a sash-like appearance, with a matching colored bottom. Over this they wear white, one-strapped flak jackets and arm as well as shin-guards. Many Kumogakure ninja use Lightning Release techniques.

Just as many from Konohagakure use Fire Release techniques, and Kirigakure using Water Release techniques. It was kind of attached to their names of the lands they live within, that was essentially connected to the types of chakra there are.

At least it is like this for the Five Great Nations.

Kumogakure was founded after the Warring States Period by the First Raikage. Shortly after the formation of their villages, Konoha's First Hokage sold tailed beasts to Kumo as a sign of friendship and to ensure a balance of power amongst their new villages.

The Second Raikage and Second Hokage later tried to formally agree to peace between their villages, but the ceremony was interrupted by the Gold and Silver Brothers and the Hokage was nearly killed.

Konoha and Kumo ended up on opposing sides during the First Shinobi World War, with Kumo's Kinkaku Force killing the Second Hokage.

Despite becoming one of the Five Great villages Kumo has gained a rather shameless reputation.

While a peace treaty was formed between all the villages to cut back on military budget and reduce the sizes of their forces during times of peace, Kumo secretly does not honor to the agreement, seeing this as a chance to ensure that no other village can ever have an upper hand should hostilities later resume.

Kumo's efforts to amass power often entail stealing secrets and kidnapping shinobi from other villages. This behavior has only provoked the other villages to employ the same tactics in kind.

In fact, several years before the Third Shinobi World War, Kumo shinobi kidnapped Kushina Uzumaki from Konoha in order to study her unique chakra, but were foiled by Obito Uchiha.

Of course, they didn't know of this, not really since all of those sent had been killed. Still, it was something to take note of due to the fact that Kumo is quite the village, and seemingly the Land of Lightning was also a part of their bigger problem.

While not overtly 'aggressive' per say in their tactics, they have sure made themselves known in what they do.

One other method of securing power has been the tailed beasts. In the early days of the village, before buying tailed beasts from Konoha, Kumo sent the Gold and Silver Brothers to capture the Nine-Tails, a task at which they ultimately failed.

With the tailed beasts in its possession, Kumo historically struggled to harness the beasts' power in jinchuriki. Jinchuriki could not gain control of the beasts and would eventually lose control.

The Eight-Tails would prove a particular headache in this regard, routinely rampaging through the village when its jinchuriki could not longer contain it. Because the Eight-Tails was too valuable to destroy, many were killed trying to seal it.

Now that a Third Shinobi World War was going on, of course they would participate in said war. How could they not take this chance to try and reap some benefits for themselves and their people?

Was it not natural for people to seek more? At the same time, it was also natural that people also didn't want to involve themselves in war as well. So, with all villages having to struggle with coming up with forces, children were being sent off into war.

Most only fresh out of the academy, with three such individuals being three girls that go by the names of Yugito Nii, Mabui and Samui.

These three currently composed of an all girls team, also having their very own female squad leader named Hikari, someone that could help them all with their developing skills.

"Girls, we are going to be deployed to the area that A and B have scouted up ahead." Hikari, a relatively above average looking woman that was in her thirties said. She had standard straight, long black hair and dark brown eyes, along with an olive skin tone. She was wearing the standard Kumo shinobi outfit.

Before her were three other girls of the same ages. The first is Samui, a tall, fair-skinned girl with a developing figure, 8 years of age. Samui generally wears a stoic, aloof expression on her face. She has blue eyes and straight, shoulder-length blonde hair cut in an asymmetrical bob style.

She wears a very low-cut outfit which displays her sizeable cleavage, with mesh armor underneath, a short skirt and red hand guards, high boots, and what appears to be a modified Kumogakure flak jacket that covers her stomach only, similar to a girdle. She also carries a tanto strapped horizontally to her lower back.

Then there is Mabui, a dark-skinned girl with green eyes, the same age as Samui. She wore very formal attire consisting of a long-sleeved, high-collared dress shirt and skirt and standard sandals. She wore her light grey hair pulled back into a bun with two bangs that fall on either side of her face.

Finally was Yugito Nii, someone that was especially important to the village, but would be going into the field despite her current status.

Yugito had long, straight, blonde, hair bound with taut bandages, and dark eyes. She wore a short-sleeved black and purple blouse and black pants, both of which had a design similar to clouds on them, purple fingerless gloves and a chain of blue beads wound around her left hand.

She also wore the standard Kumogakure forehead protector, sandals and a kunai holster, which was strapped to her right thigh. Yugito also wore bandages around her arms and legs as well as a red belt around her waist.

"We are going to fight with Konoha shinobi?" Inquisitive, Yugito asked.

"Yes." Hikari gave an affirmative. "Are there any other questions?"

"No." Yugito and Mabui both replied at the same time, while Samui was the ever silent girl, only ever talking when she needed, and she didn't need to do so right now, instead opting to nod her head instead.

Sighing, Hikari didn't know whether or not her team would be safe out there on the battlefield, as there seemed to be someone that A and B were a bit worried about. Two people in fact, and one of them was but a genin, or seemed to be a genin around her current students age. 'An Uchiha...' Hikari narrowed her eyes as she thought of this. 'I just hope nothing too dangerous happens.'

There was no build up.

If there was, it would've probably been happening somewhere one couldn't see. Or it could have happened right in front of ones eyes, yet one failed to realize the importance of such an event that had occurred.

Neither of it really mattered right now anyway, since the sound of multiple things was currently happening. Two sides were facing each other on the battlefield, that battlefield being the very same one that Obito and Minato had gone against A and B.

It was here that the fight was decided to be, even if the Konoha shinobi should've stayed in their defensive positioning, it wouldn't have mattered either way.

The shinobi world was not only dangerous, but it couldn't even fully qualify as one that is all that stealthy, even with it being a part of their job description. Not that it was all that needed in battles of this magnitude, where there is a clear enemy for one to go against.

Thankfully, which is a strange feeling to feel now, a lot of the people being killed off were adults, and not the children on said battlefield, even as few as their numbers are. The children from Konoha were exactly those that had come here to help deal with things, with even others that could be considered teenagers.

Overall, it was not a place that they should be, but a place that are forced to be. Team Kushina, specifically Rin had been acting as a support role for both Kurenai and Mei, as the three of them would be a perfect enough team to up against their current opponents that seemed intent on killing them.

Kushina was off somewhere with Mikoto, handling a large swath of shinobi, which seemed almost endless, but with everything going on, no one really wanted to use any big techniques that would risk their teammates.

At least both sides seemed to be looking out for their fellow shinobi in this sense. Or it was just some unspoken agreement that everyone shared.

Team Seven, that was composed of Minato, Asuma, Kakashi and Raido, was not here right now, specifically going towards another place to be set up, certainly on another battlefield facing some Kumo shinobi.

Specifically, Minato seemed intent on facing off against the two, A and B, as the two of them should be in their area, launching an assault of their own, their objectives unknown.

Then there is Team Choza, that has Guy, Ebisu and Genma, the three of them working together to cover for each others flaws. They worked together well enough, and then there was their own jonin instructor, a part of the Akimichi clan, taking care of some enemy Kumo shinobi as well.

Last, but not least, Obito was handling himself well, over on his own side of the battlefield, that wouldn't be his own side per say, but a place that was separate from all of the other people that he knows of and is related to.

Obito was much less reserved when it came to killing opposed to his previous self, that would probably not like the idea of killing really anyone, and would want to try and reform them. Of course, there was still that part of him, but right now, it wasn't about reformation of their selves.

It was about survival, kill or be killed, and war was not kind to those that were kind.

Dodging a flying kunai knife that zoomed right past himself, Obito threw his own, ending the life of the person that had thrown it against him. He didn't want to think too deeply about his actions as well, considering that he may hesitate in defending himself and defending his allies.

Truly, he had not been through the worst of the worst, even when the war from the future, against Madara and the Akatsuki, was not as psychologically damaging as this one. For the simple fact that there was no grand enemy, or evil person that wished to destroy the world.

Even then, Madara and the Akatsuki, all had a goal that was twisted from the very beginning, not truly intending to end all life as they knew it.

Now, this was a war that had Obito testing his own metal against others, testing the metal of his allies against their current enemies.

These were normal people, people with families and people that had lives, yet, Obito had to take them down, simply because they wished to do his loved ones harm. He didn't feel bad about that.

'Now that I think about it, Minato doesn't know about the Rasengan yet, and would probably never start developing it...' Obito had restrained himself from using his signature technique.

The Rasengan was originally being developed by Minato after he had seen a Tailed Beast Ball. A technique used by jinchuriki, or in particular something that Minato would've learned of from observing it from Kushina.

'Or maybe he saw it from someone else? It could've been B...' Obito's Sharingan eyes were still focused on the battlefield, especially looking out for those that he is close to, while also keeping an eye out for fellow Leaf shinobi as well.

He didn't want his allies to die, but he most especially didn't want his loved ones to die even more so. So, of course he may be a little bit biased in his attention right now, but it wasn't like this wasn't something everyone else did as well.

Holding a kunai knife, Obito went forward and killed another three individuals that seemed to be focusing on him in particular.

Blood was now covering his face, impassive as it is in this moment.

Blood was also covering the battlefield as well, and there were clear skies, making sure that the only liquid anyone and everyone can see, be... blood.

Stretching his hand outwards, Obito decided that he would try and recreate his Fire Style Rasengan. 'Fire Style: Rasengan!' He thought as Fire attributed chakra gathered within his palm, also following the chaotic nature of his base Rasengan.

The energies was enough to make a big explosion, and he planned to make this one something that he could through into the enemies backline. Jumping upwards, his Flaming Rasengan was now ready to launch, and he threw it all the to the back, and it looked nothing more than some small thing, but it was much more.

He did this to start exposing those that are supporting the enemies backline, knowing that support was usually the people helping keep their shinobi alive.

A large explosion occurred after his release, and no one didn't even know that it was him that had done this. Absolutely no one knew at all.

Still, this was enough to change the dynamic on the battlefield even more, as the Kumo shinobi were now in retreat, trying to get away, while only a few Leaf shinobi chased after them. After all, they are only meant to be defending, and attacking them might expose them to other attacks.

It might be used as a chance to one up them. The woods was also set on fire due to Obito's attack as well, lighting up the night as it had turned to night from day.

Having successfully pushed them back, the Leaf shinobi defending this place could finally relax a bit. To heal up and recover, as the next skirmish may be something that doesn't exactly happen any time soon.

This was just another one of those small battles, even still, it was something devastating to both sides as people had been lost.

Obito would make sure to remember them all, remember all of their faces. It was only made all the more easier by his Sharingan, but he did find his faith in Konoha wavering ever since the revelation brought to him by Kushina.

At this point, Kushina herself had the barest amount of loyalty towards said village, and it was not like he could blame her either. He couldn't paint everyone with the same brush, but he could be more cautious about the villages intentions for himself, and for his precious people.

Shaking his head, Obito headed back himself, not wanting to follow after those that seemed a little bit too bloodthirsty.
