Kapitel 166: Charred

The hard buzzing sound of the mobile phone against the tiled floor did not bother him at all. It did not matter who was the sender or what was the content. 

His left thumb was already itching to swipe down the gears of the lighter. But his right hand was too busy holding the small version of the laminated marriage certificate of his and Adrianna as well as their wedding picture. He let his mind go back in time, trying to find all the happy memories of their past. As eager as he was to rest his eyes forever, visions of Sara flashed through. A pang of guilt came rushing for not doing his best to find one of his treasured friends that might still be alive and in need of help. 

'It will be a pointless effort', he argued by himself. If her husband had wasted a year plus to find her but to no avail, what made him think he, the outsider, could find her?
