The horses moved and broke out in a disorderly sprint forward, the movement unsettling the fight going on in the wagon. Taking advantage of the loss of attention Guan Chen jumped onto the guard again and the two of them rolled out of the wagon. Tumbling down onto the road they continued to fight, with the intention to kill.
Meanwhile Qiu Feng was struggling to steer the horse forward still unaware that Guan Chen had fall off. It certainly didn't help that the other gaurd was busy trying to stab him and kept steering the horse in the other direction.
Pulling out his own short sword he had stolen he blocked and spurred the horse faster, glancing behind him he saw the empty wagon and was shocked. The guard opposite saw his moment of distraction and stabbed at his chest, going for the kill, they really only needed Guan Chen, not whoever this handsome thin young man was.
Backing away quickly the sword only sliced Qiu Fengs shoulder drawing a heavy amount of blood. Unsteady on the horse and losing blood rapidly made his head feel light. Spurring the horse to move faster he lay low and recklessly smacked his weapon at the guards head, knocking him out completely. The wagon and the two horses ran and ran following whatever road they were on, not that Qiu Feng was paying attention.
All his thoughts were focused on getting the carriage away. He knew that Guan Chen was mostly healed and should be able to put up a fight. And even if he was caught how could the guard take him back to Wing Liu without a wagon or horse? So the further he drove the better.
He tore at his cloths and uncoordinated he tied his shoulder the best he could. Slowing the horses he dragged the unconscious gaurd into the wagon and tied his legs and arms together not paying much attention to his aching shoulder.
'It's just a skin wound.It's just a skin wound' Everything's fine. Everything's fine.'
He repeated over and over again, in this new world he had no one to rely on, the only person he knew had thrown him away, although the logical side of his brain knew it was for his safety the fact that Guan Chen had no hesitation when making that decision hurt him much more than he wanted to show. To him it just proved the sublet thought that had been floating around in the back of his mind that he didn't matter to Guan Chen and that Guan Chen had wanted to leave him.
After getting to know Guan Chen he looked up to him and really thought of them as good brothers and friends. Unfortunately he had forgotten that this was only 5 weeks, compared to the rest of his life to Guan Chen he was nothing. Just a stupid, silly, and ignorant of the world young man. Unwilling to think further Qiu Feng just focused on driving, driving, and driving.
Night fell quickly and they kept moving in the dark. Woozy and unable to see well he debated resting for the night. Finally he just leaned forward and tired his best to guide the horses forward, thankfully they were trained and knew to keep going forward.
He fell asleep and then woke then drifted back off asleep, uncomfortable and in pain he felt horrible. At some point he remembered the guard waking up and shouting at him. The sky was pitch black and the moon only left a little light in the sky, unwilling to communicate with the guard he had stopped the wagon and unsteady approached the guard.
In the dead of night the gaurd awoke in a moving wagon. He was tied and couldn't see anything, as he shouted to stop he remembered the young man who had slammed his head with the sword and knocked him unconscious. Anger drove him to shout louder.
Then he froze, the wagon had stopped and a figure had climbed unsteadily into the wagon swaying like a drunk and approached him with heavy breathing and steps. A bit scared he stoped speaking unconsciously, then the figure grabbed something and in a swift furious movement aimed towards his head!
The guards cry of fear and surprise was cut short as he was knocked unconscious again. Tying a piece of loose cloth over the others eyes and sticking some more cloth in the guards mouth Qui Feng lay to the side and promptly passed out.
-Meanwhile back to when Guan Cheng had fallen out of the carriage.-
After rolling off the wagon they both fell a little ways away from each other. Catching his bearings first the guard stood and said, "The lord had been looking for you the past 5 weeks and demands you come home. We were sent to bring you back as soon as we found you. You must come with us."
Guan Chen stood and laughed out loud,
"Who doesn't know that he was just keeping me around as a tool to vent his frustration and keep as a pet! To go back with you would mean i would be a fool!"
Then the guard moved, attacking before Guan Chen he finished speaking. As the two fought Guan Chen's killing intent spiked and he went all out, blow by blow he got close and closer to the guard.
Panicked the guard lost his footing and turning to run he stumbled slightly and lost his balance. Guan Chen brought his blade down quickly and stabbed straight through the guards chest with the guards own sword.
Wounded and bleeding from several cuts Guan Chen Looked down the road where the wagon had disappeared. Sighing he thought about the young mans expression,
'He looked like he was about to cry, i have to go after him. I can take him with me and teach he about the world. As long as we get far away Wing Liu won't be able to control us, it'll be fine. He tied his wounds and after searching the dead guards body his found some money and a missing poster. Covering himself in the armor he rolled the body off to the side of the road hiding it in the bushes.
Trudging forward he followed the wagons marks, and he followed them his sharp assassin nose smelled the send of rust. A bit panicked he searched the ground and saw several pools of dried blood. His brows furrowed and he looked forward.
Didn't Qiu Feng see that they had fallen off? Why did he keep moving? His worry increased and he began to jog. After several hours he realized that it was intentional. Qiu Feng must have seen they had fallen and continued, after a bit of thinking Guan Chen could more or less understand his thought process. Qiu Feng didn't want to give that gaurd any chance to take him away and back to Wing Liu so he drove the carriage forward.
But now….how would Guan Cheng find him?Or..was it intentional? Did Qiu Feng want to leave him? Did he really do what he said and left him because he wasn't able to protect him? His emotions bubbled up but his rational side suppressed it.
His thoughts whirled and he thought back to their conversation, the hurt and unwillingness he had seen but ignored came to mind. Suddenly another thought flashed through his mind, before he was so focused on escaping he didn't really pay attention to the young man. The young man was not his top priority, instead his top priority was to escape. Meanwhile the young mans top priority was always to help him, even when he said those rude things.
"Please, i don't want to be abandoned again!"
Those words echoed in his mind, he thought back to the young mans expression when he spoke about his family, dark and cold. He had indeed said that his family had left his there alone, was that not being abandoned by the people he trusted the most?
"I only have you in this world!"
Qiu Fengs voice echoed in his head, unconsciously his steps had become faster. Their relationship had always been a bit uneven, Qiu Feng had always been the one giving and doing things for him. Always talking to him first and helping him, not to mention saving him, it really did seem like his whole world was focused on Guan Chen.
'I should have noticed, this uneven relationship..is wrong. I always thought that Wing Liu thought of me as an equal and that was how love and relationships should be. But when i was with Qiu Feng i never noticed this unevenness. I need to have a good talk with him. I, I want to see him.'
Guan Chen, although he had a strong mentally had always admired and longed after people who had strong pure emotions. People who would cherish their emotions, people who would never be afraid of giving others love and trust. It was something he just couldn't seem to do. As an assassin he always had his guard up, unconditional love and emotions were things he could only wish for.
Qiu Feng was a person who would devoted there emotions to what they believed in. And the person who Qiu Feng believed in and trusted in was him. He had little memories and what he did remember was a cold harsh reality. So their relationship Qiu Feng had put all his emotions into, exactly what Guan Chen had always wished for. It was the reason that he had been able to put down his guard so easily. But now that man was gone, now those emotions along with that man had disappeared.
But even though he walked and walked until the moon appeared he never found the wagon. But he saw more and more blood where the wagon tracks were.
Finally he had to stop, unable to see the tracks. Sleeping in a tall nearby tree he buried his worried thoughts and fell asleep.
