(3rd POV)
The students were let off early as soon as they returned to school. They deserved to rest after the attack.
Chikyu planned to go to Heaven's Garden to relax, but he was first going to run home to make sure his mom knew he was okay. She no doubt had already heard of what happened at the USJ. She constantly checked with UA how he was doing, so by now they definitely would have told her about what happened.
The last thing he wanted was for her to panic.
Another thing to note was that as soon as Chikyu got back on the bus when the attack at the USJ concluded, he felt his planetary mother connect to his mind again. When he began running back home, she talked.
"My boy, are you alright?!", she asked, clearly distressed. The only reason she didn't ask this as soon as she connected was because she could tell he was processing some things, and she didn't want to interrupt that.
"Yeah. Still a bit shaken, but that's about it.", he responded to the distressed mother. She sighed in relief.
"By the way, what have you been doing since last time we talked?", he asked, curious as to what his planetary mother had been up to.
(It's getting annoying having to use describing words to refer to her all the time, so from now on, unless it's in Chikyu's POV or his thoughts, I'll be using her real name, Kushital. Again, this'll only be in third Pov or when someone else is talking about her)
"Making sure animals aren't being overhunted, protecting the environments to the best of my ability, observing the state of the oceans and skies, and much, much more", Kushital responded.
"And how did that go?", Chikyu asked, trying his hardest to conceal the worry that might have leaked into his tone.
"There was much that I couldn't do. I manage to save some, but more and more is destroyed every time.", she responded, curious, as this was the most he pressed whenever he asked what she had been doing. He would normally ask and simply "hm" at whatever she responded with.
A long, uncomfortable silence ensued as Chikyu stopped his run.
"You're the next in line to take over as Prime Kurna when she dies"
Those words from Kindan had been haunting him ever since he heard them. Every time he tried to sleep, the remembrance of those words instantly woke up him up, far worse than any possible nightmare. He had been losing more and more sleep because of this.
His hair had been starting to whiten further as well from the constantly increasing stress. It now went slightly past the tips, and it was only covering more and more with each passing day. Eventually, the wraps wouldn't be able to cover it.
Ever since that day, he wanted to confront her about it. And now he had the chance.
"When were you going to tell me that you were going to die?"
Another uncomfortable silence, but it didn't last as long as the previous one.
"I guess there's no point in trying to hide it now. I would have told you eventually. When exactly, I don't know. It likely would have been a few weeks before my death", Kushital responded.
She knew that Chikyu was upset and that no wording would change it, so she wisely decided not to try and sugar coat anything. Chikyu was good at detecting lies from both of his mothers, so he would catch her if she tried to do so anyways.
"Do you know how much it hurts that I found out not from you, but from a caged being? From an Unseen, and not from one of my mothers? I basically had a stranger inform me that one of my parents is going to die and that there is nothing that can be done about it.", he shakily stated.
This was the first time Kushital had experienced Chikyu in any state other than indifferent or pissed off. She knew that it would be wise to let him say what he wanted to say before anything else.
"Not only that, I have to take over your job, whatever the fuck that entails! Not only will I have to worry about that, I'll also have to try and keep all of it a secret from everyone else! I've just been thrown into this situation all of a sudden and I can only hope that it doesn't blow up in my face because instead of you telling me and giving me a chance to prepare for it, you kept your mouth shut for years! Fucking years of silence!", he raged further on, his quirk about to go out of control from his outburst.
"My boy, please calm down! I understand all of your anger and resentment, and I know I fully deserve it, but your power is about to go rampant if you don't calm yourself!", Kushital desperately yelled out in his mind.
Chikyu heeded her advice, and took several deep breaths. His quirk calmed down, as did he. He began his run again, but slower this time.
"I still love you, mom. But it still hurts that you didn't tell me yourself."
The rest of the run was spent in silence.
(Sup. Next few chapters are going to be more calm. I'll also show his relationship with Kota in the chapter after the next one)
