Kapitel 13: Chapter Thirteen: Magic

Jantyr watched Jasmine altering a piece of paper. On one side of the paper was a shiny white, while the other a pale gray. She was slowly shifting it into the pale gray. She was panting heavily, despite her lack of physical labor.

When she was done, she stuck the paper to a thin leather book, with only a handful of pages.

Jasmine reached out to her pen holder, with a lone quill and hauled it towards her. When she looked into the glass holder, she couldn't help to notice the lack of ink.

With a sigh Jasmine cut her thumb and allowed her blood to fall freely into the pen holder. When her blood reached the top she covered her wound and grabbed a fifty centimeter long stick next to her and focused.

Jasmine looked strained and was getting out of breath quickly. But the reward for her weird antics was the blood transfiguring into ink slowly. It took her a solid minute before there were no traces of blood left in the ink and Jasmine could finally rest. Her ragged breath echoed through her sound proof room while she caught her breath.

Jasmine leaned back in her leather chair and rested for some minutes, before finally grabbing her quill, ready to do what she originally set out to do.

Jasmine grabbed her book and turned her pages, until she finally came to her newest addition. Unlike the pages before, this one was new and had yet to be tainted by Jasmine's immature knowledge of magic.

Jasmine dipped her quill in the pure ink and wrote "Jasmine The Weather Forecast Witch"

"Magic Theory:"

"What is magic? I struggle frequently to answer this question and so do my teachers! Thousands of years and hundreds of generations, yet we still lack a certain answer for this question! Yes there are hundreds of thousands of speculations as to what it is, but that's just that, speculations! So here I am, almost a year after my journey of magic began and what is the question I ask the most? "What is magic" of course, it just intrigues me. Yet it doesn't seem like I will ever get a satisfying answer, so here I am, searching for the truth myself.like all my predecessors before me!"

"So what do I think magic is? Well with my limited knowledge I have come to a conclusion. It's energy! Magic is an energy capable of not just converting into other energies, but actual objects. It can change the rules of the world with the mere whim of its user. But that begs the question, why can we use magic. To that, I do not know."

"With magic, this supreme energy. We have gained a system of power, a very obscure one, but easy to understand. As far as I know there are three tiers, well four. Tier Zero, Tier one, Tier Two and Tier Three. The difference between a Tier Zero and Tier One is apparently incomprehensible. My teacher is still a Tier Zero and he can transform a small mountain."

Jasmine wrote, but she ran out of paper, so she stood up and opted to alter another piece of paper. But before she could there was a knock on her door.

"Jasmine, your lesson on curses begins in two minutes, shouldn't you already be there?" the person on the other side of the door said.

Jasmine sighed and got up from her comfortable chair and tucked it under her desk. She carefully nabbed her book and folded it, before hiding it under her bed sheets.

(Meanwhile)

The snow was persistently falling with no end. It had gotten so bad that entire villages were consumed by meters of snow. It's safe to say that they were in need of rescue missions. But there was one place, one peaceful, warm and quiet place in the middle of nowhere. Here there was no snow inside their warm wall, or the wall in progress. But just some meters away, mountains of snow concealed the village. The mountains of snow were only growing in size and wouldn't stop for a long time.

Jantyr, the sole cause of this event, was currently contemplating his actions. Some days ago Jasmine had been taught the power scaling of this world, somewhat and it only served to worry him. What would he do if he was found by them? What would he do if they held him accountable for his actions? The answer was simple and terrifying, nothing, for he could do nothing. With a casual stroll they could end his short lived life.

Despite his mood, the rest of the village was happy. They had enough food for the winter and enough people for their labor. Houses were being built as they spoke and the village's prosperity was through the roof.

Lenart and Howard were chatting with each other. Neither had reached Tier one and Jantyr feared they never would, at least Howard.

Next to the lodge some men were training in their underwear. like it wasnt minus fifty degrees outside the walls. If this weather had hit Jantyr's old world he feared many would die. So what about this one, where technology is mediocre? The answer was obvious, they would die. But there was one thing that kept most alive, mana. Even if most lacked control and quantity in mana, it was still protecting them ever so slightly.

Jantyr imaginary sighed, he was bored. What could he do, almost no energy and nothing to do because of that. All he could do right now was watch Jasmine learn stuff in a magic school. To put it bluntly, it's not as fun as it sounds.

(Back to Jasmine)

"Curses are dangerous as you all know and therefore you will not be taught any dangerous curses. Until you're a Tier One. The most dangerous of all curses is Helloåmåne. Three letters can explain its effect and they're short for three words IEI: Implode, Explode, Implode. This spell was created by a dark magician. It Implodes and gathers force, then it explodes outwards consuming all in its range, then it implodes again leaving nothing behind. Whatever that is air, or dirt, all will be consumed. Anyone ever heard of this spell?" the teacher asked.

Jasmine's hand shot up with excitement, as she wiggled it around for all to notice.

"Yes, Mrs Jasmine." the teacher said.

With conformation Jasmine went on a rant. "Blackdeath, the most evil Necromancer of all time. It created many vile spells and curses that would destroy its opponents. It's unknown if this creature was a man or woman, or if it even died! All we know is the records of the past and tales of the country it destroyed. Leaving nothing but a new ocean behind."

"Good job Jasmine, we will send you some extra material for your perfect answer!" the teacher said and Jasmine squealed in excitement. With material she could do all kinds of research and progress her magic multitudes faster.

"Thank you!" she whispered.

The other students looked at her with envy. They should have known that, many thought, but as a matter of fact no one did.

Some minor curses were taught, like the bruise curse. A curse that makes its target constantly get bruises from random generated accidents.

Jasmine returned to her room later that day, almost four hours after she left it.

The first thing she did was check under her sheet for her book, then she sat down after confirming its presence.

Some time later the world of dreams invited her to its embrace and Jasmine didn't refuse.
