Kapitel 37: The First Court Dinner

"Lola, does the girdle need to be so tight?" I could hardly breathe. My waist looked smaller than usual in the mirror, but Lola was still trying her best to shrink it.

"Miss Annie, don't you know that those noble ladies don't eat or drink for three days before the court dinner starts. It's just to show off their slim curves and proud breasts!" Lola stuck her head out from behind my waist and said to me in the mirror. "Believe me. Those ladies will comment on everyone's clothes and figure in private. Their remarks at the court dinner will spread like the servants' rumors! Miss Annie, I don't want you to be in those negative comments!"

Then, Lola finally let go of her hands and stood aside. She was relieved and stared at me for a long time like a painter admiring his final work.

"Very good!" Lola complimented me. "I'm sure you'll shine at the party tonight!"
