Kapitel 46: Invaders
The place they were is called the 'Death Valley' because of the abundance of hunting-type beasts present in the forest. There are many predators as well as prey. Even the weakest beast will be a supervillain for someone if not being careful.
When Lin Cian and William were walking towards the exit of the forest a scent invaded William's nose and after a moment it invaded Lin Cian's.
"It stinks," said Lin Cian while holding his hands covering his nose.
"Shh... We are in danger" whispered William.
Lin Cian's eyes widened by seeing the sense of seriousness on William's face. But had an idea too. He concentrated his mental strength into his eyes and his pupils had an extra layer around them. The new layer was purple. As soon as he did that his eyes widened and his face also imitated the seriousness that William's face gave him a while ago.
"What was that?" asked William in curiosity.
"What is what?"
"Your eyes changed"
"Ooh it is called 'Gaze on prey' and there are several beasts in front of us what shall we do now?" whispered Lin Cian without getting out of his eyes towards the beasts ahead.
William set his gaze from Lin Cian towards the direction which Lin Cian was facing. His eyes widened and his posture got tense. Sensing the danger Lin Cian and William learned that the beasts have found them already but were trying to ambush them so they never dare to be careless.
The duo stood still without making a single sound, they didn't move at all. A careless look may identify them as a well-made wax sculpture. After a few seconds, a loud noise of growling invaded their ears but they never dare to act or move. They stood still without any reaction. After a few seconds, several dark figures appeared around them. Both William and Lin Cian thought the same thing
'We were completely surrounded' they alarmed themselves not to make any rash moves.
The creatures appeared in front of the duo. The animals in front of them looked completely black. They looked like a dog but not similar to them in any other aspects. Their hind legs were smaller than the forelegs which gave them a little slanted posture. They had big heads with round ears. They also had three eyes, unlike a normal beast. Two eyes were in the same place where a beast would have and the third one was above them in the middle of the forehead a little above the frontal sinus.
'They are smart animals and we were outnumbered the battle is decided but I won't give up.' Said Lin Cian in his mind.
'You were strong in using sheer force but what else can you do?.... William... Is this your end?... No... not... I have just found her..... How can I die here?' William's mind lingered around the world but ha came back to reality when Lin Cian shouted
"William..... Soul Ring"
William's response was immediate. He raised his spear and rotated above his head once and lowered it as the spearhead was facing the ground. A golden halo appeared above their heads with the diameter of the length of the spear while rotating the spear. The halo descended to the ground at the speed of the spear lowered towards the ground. When the halo touched the ground it made a huge explosion outside the range of the ring. The place trembled and the place filled with the fog of dust and but what happened next was something daring.
Three animals fell dead on the ground with a poke in their neck through which the blood was poured out. Their jugular vein was poked thus leading to death. But as Lin Cian predicted the other animals started to pounce relentlessly at him. In short, he made himself a lure.
When a beast pounced over Lin Cian a ray of light with the length of 6 inches poked its neck. I was William making use of one of his evolved skills 'Soul Piercer'. Then some beasts pounce against William and had their eyes poked out. The blind beasts would bite anything they got between their jaw believing it was the invaders of their territory.
Slowly Lin Cian and William alternated their roles of attackers and baits to shift the attention of the beasts to one person and ignore the other. But soon after annihilating half the pack of the beast's Lin Cian's mind was strike
'How foolish am I?' Even though the beasts were of an Intelligent family Lin Cian couldn't believe that they could fool a human. He found what is happening.
'These bastards were mere things but still, they were strong' thought, William.
Lin Cian understood what is happening. As soon as Lin Cian and William got exhausted the leaders will attack. The leaders were the strong seven beasts in the extreme last row of the ambush.
Lin Cian signaled William and then the duo rushed towards the leaders of the group. But William reached the end to confront the leaders while Lin Cian was stuck in the middle of the low tiers. Two of them were separated. That's when the leader of the pack came front towards William while directly giving orders.
"So females are the leaders of the group," muttered William.
The battle became so intense both Lin Cian and William were injured. Lin Cian was injured in his back because of the successful pawing done by the then alive wild beast. William was bitten in his left leg and was losing blood by the now alive leader of the pack. After a few minutes of exchanges of moves
"Thud"
A loud noise resounded the forest. A black huge beast of 2 meters in height has been lying dead on the ground. It was the leader of the beast pack fallen to the ground. William successfully killed the female beast and survived with many injuries over his chest and shoulders too. After killing the leader William turned his head to see for another enemy. Much to his surprise, there is no alive beast around him. Every beast around him was dead but to his worry, there was a skinny creature lying on the ground on its chest.
William neared the skinny creature and confirmed it was Lin Cian.
"Cian, how are you doing??.... Cian... Cian... open your eyes... speak something... You bast....."
"Fi.. 'cough'... Fine" William heard a soft yet struggling voice and relaxed himself a bit. William took Lin Cian in his shoulders and decided to move out of the forest. He took Lin Cian in his shoulder and adjusted to find whether he was comfortable on William's back.
