In a dark three-meter-wide hole, a man was falling at great speed. Half his hair and his back were bare and blackened. There was an occasional drop of blood from his mouth, nose and eyes. He did not look good at all. With his bones broken all over, his condition worsened by the minute. He had been falling for only thirty seconds; it felt like he had been falling for an eternity. The hole seemed bottomless, which only increased his nervousness.
"Aarhh!" He suddenly let out a painful roar. His bones were screaming in his body as the pressure in the hole was gradually building up. Under an intense pressure he had never experienced before, he was being squashed. Some of his bones were already snapping within his body and piercing through his skin yet, he felt like the pressure he was suffering was somewhat familiar.
"Why does this pressure feel so familiar? Aarhh…" he let out another scream. He gritted his teeth and tried to numb his mind to the pain. His mind began wandering off again however, he soon realised where the familiar feeling was coming from.
"This pressure is similar to the pressure I feel every time I fail to level up." His eyes suddenly widened as he thought, "Could I level down to gain strength? Because every time I fail to raise my Rank from 0 to 1, this was the kind of pressure I felt, except it was on a much different level. Can I level down?"
As soon as these thoughts flooded his mind, the pressure he felt skyrocketed at once. He let out an ear-piercing scream as he lost all control of his body. He felt like the pressure was going to quash him into a paste. At the same time, a series of messages began flooding his head.
<Notice>
<You have initiated the levelling down process. Would you like to proceed?>
<Yes> <No>
"I can level down. Wait, would I become weaker or would I get stronger? Well, whatever, I'm dying here anyway, so it wouldn't hurt to try it" he was quite pleased with the turn of events however becoming weaker wasn't something he wanted to go through. He had no choice. The pressure was still immensely crushing him so he had to do something before it was too late. "Yes," he blurted out.
<Notice>
<Your current body does not meet the requirements for levelling down. Your body would now be deconstructed and reconstructed to level down. The process would present excruciating pain. Would you like to continue?>
<Yes> <No>
Another message popped up in his head. "Yes," he answered without any hesitation. He thought, "I'm already going through the worst pain possible. That shouldn't be any scarier". But soon enough, he realised just how wrong he was.
<Notice>
<Deconstruction of your body will now begin.>
<Deconstruction is at 1%>
Lin screamed so loud that his energy reserve diminished in an instant. His eye became bloodshot and bulged out so that even his pupil could no longer be seen. Slowly, his body began to decay like rotten meat. The process was so painful Lin's mouth was left ajar with no sound coming out any longer. After a while, his eyes closed shut; there was a deathly silence.
He had passed out. His body continued to decay slowly, from skin to flesh, muscles and bones. The deconstruction bar rose slowly as his body decayed. After about four hours of torture, the deconstruction was done.
<Notice>
<Reconstruction would now begin.>
<In this phase, your body will be rebuilt and an element would be assigned.>
<Reconstruction has now begun.>
<Reconstruction at 1%>
As the rebuilding of his body began, the pressure around him began to condense and merge with his body. A red cocoon began to form around him with a bright red light shrouding him. The light pulsated like the beating of a heart. Slowly, his bones began to form however, the once white bone was now black with red rune-like texts appearing on it. The bones steadily grew in size and began taking the shape of a human. After about three hours, the reconstruction of the bone was complete.
<Notice>
<Reconstruction at 45%>
<An element would be assigned.>
<Assigning Lightning element>
Black lightning began to cackle wildly all over the red cocoon. After half an hour, another message popped up.
<Notice>
<Your body is eligible to hold two elements.>
<A second element would now be assigned.>
<Assigning Fire element>
Black fire shrouded the entire cocoon as the lightning continued to dance around it. The red cocoon almost looked black due to the presence of black lightning and fire.
<Notice>
<Element Assignment complete>
<Reconstruction would now continue>
<Reconstrution at 50%>
The rebuilding continued for long hours and after 40 hours, the entire process was complete.
<Notice>
<Reconstrution at 100%>
The lightning and fire died down; the red cocoon began to develop cracks. It soon shattered like glass revealing the curled-up Lin inside. He slowly opened his eyes and straightened up a bit. His red hair had become a bit longer and his eyes now had a black circular halo surrounding his smaller pupils.
He inspected himself for a bit and held his head as he still felt a little fuzzy. He thought of his level and a message popped up in his head.
<Name: Lin>
<Assigned Weapon: Spear>
<Element Attributes: Lightening, Fire>
<Level: Retro Quint>
<Rank: -1>
"I levelled down. However, I don't feel weaker rather I feel stronger than before. Also, I have two elemental attributes. I haven't heard of anyone having more than one before" he remarked and began inspecting his surroundings. He soon found out he was in a cave and was no longer falling. The entire cave stretched on for 5000 meters.
The only source of light was from above him. After taking a careful look, he realised it was the hole he had fallen into. It was now only 50 meters high. He got up and quickly realised he had no clothes on. He knew he couldn't go out like that so he decided to explore the cave. Strangely, though the cave was dark he could still see a bit and make his way around. Something he doubted he would have been able to do previously.
As he walked around the cave, he saw something that shocked him.
