In the corner of the cave was a rock slab akin to a desk with a flat-topped rock by it. The sight piqued his interest. He inspected the place cautiously before nearing the table. The entire space looked like a study with lots of broken stone tablets. He checked them but found nothing of importance. He caught sight of a unique-looking stone tablet on the rock platform as he was about to retreat. It was at the edge of the table with part of it broken.
He picked up the strangely shaped tablet and inspected it. There seemed to be engravings on it. However, he couldn't make any sense of it. It was incomplete as it was split from top to bottom. He had only half of it. He quickly began to look through the broken pieces to see if he could find anything. After a quarter an hour search, he found nothing. "Who would leave this here and, why would the person leave only half of it?" he began contemplating.
"More importantly, how did the person make it into this place? Could it be the person also survived the fall like I did? No, no, no." he shook his head to refute his claim. "It couldn't be. From how these tablets are here, the person had probably been here for a while or even possibly created this place. But why?" He could not understand who possibly created the place or why the person did so.
"Well, better keep exploring" he shrugged and went further into the cave. "I hope I find something to wear before getting out of this place." he blurted out and went on. The cave was dryer than he expected. He thought there would at least be a puddle here and there. He walked on for a while and soon entered a space covered in several marks and signs of destruction. They were signs of battle.
Some amount of the aura from the battle still lingered around. Strangely, the aura felt somewhat familiar. The aura he felt calmed him somewhat. He felt at home in the presence of that pressure as if in a loved one's embrace. He felt like he had felt that sort of pressure his whole life. "What's this strange feeling? Why do I have a sense of familiarity with this place? It feels very familiar but I can't clearly remember where I felt this"
As he tried to think of it, he felt a sudden jab to his head that threatened to split his skull. Along with it, he saw a blurry shadow. He couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman. He stopped trying to think about it as it only worsened his headache. "Who was that person? Does the person have anything to do with this place?" Lots of questions began to pop up in his head. He knew he wouldn't get answers to them any time soon, so instead of dwelling on it, he continued his exploration.
He went through the supposed battlefield furthermore and soon discovered a rock platform with a blue sheet on it. He blinked twice at it and scratched his head in confusion. "Someone used to live here? Man, I thought the person only probably came in from time to time but, to think the person lived here? Well, maybe I can look for some clothes to wear" he became very hopeful about finding something to wear but was soon very disappointed.
The reality was rather cruel. There was nothing to wear as the entire place was a mess. He looked back at the sheet and grunted before picking it up, "I guess this would have to do" he shook the dust off the blanket and wrapped it around himself. "Hey, wait a minute, I can make this place mine. It would be easier to hunt too. Come to think of it, would my levelling down require the same process as levelling up?"
"Let's leave that aside for now. First, let's get out of here" he shoved the thought aside and proceeded back towards the hole in the earth. It was around midday by the time he got there. He jumped out of the hole with haste and quickly looked around to ensure there were no beasts around to detect him. That is assuming they were anywhere close by. After jumping out of the hole, he realized that it had disappeared since he could pinpoint where it had been.
"Does this mean you cannot see the hole from the outside but only from the inside? Is such a thing even possible? Doesn't that mean anyone can fall into it unaware? But it felt hard when I crashed here. It will be a lot of trouble if someone else discovers this place. Let's see if I can go back in". He double-checked where the hole had been and proceeded to test his theory.
He jumped to where the entrance had been; nothing happened. The place he was standing was solid ground. His eyes brightened at the fact that no one would be able to fall in accidentally and that only he would know of its existence. He soon felt a headache coming. If it was now solid ground and no one could enter, that meant he also couldn't enter.
"Damt it, I should have found another way of getting out before jumping out like this. I wanted to explore more of the cave when I get back, but now the opportunity is gone. I want to enter" As soon as the thought of entering crossed his mind, his body slipped through; he landed on his butt. He held his sour butt and stood back up. "Wait, so all I had to do was think I wanted to enter? No, that's not right" he shook his head and looked at his hand. The half-piece of the tablet he was holding had a faint glow.
"Is it because of this tablet? But there's only half of it" he rested his hands on his jaw, deep in thought. "Guess I would just have to inspect it later. Old Dan is probably worried about me. I need to go back and see him." He jumped out and quickly made his back to Cuolden. The fire beast didn't appear to go after him so he had no trouble along the way.
