Several days had passed since Ren fell into the Backrooms. It was not easy to keep track of time in that place, the environment, though unsettling, was beginning to become familiar to him. His breathing technique had become as natural as walking, his strength and skills continued to grow.
Despite the bewildering vastness of the Backrooms,El Sistema, always kept him informed of dangers and opportunities.
Ren, according to my records, you have traveled what appear to be three distinct paths so far. Each path has a specific pattern of entities and phenomena."_
Ren nodded, wiping the sweat from his brow as he took a momentary break.
- "I've noticed. These past few days, the entities have been harder to handle. Though, I must say, I've gotten a lot stronger since I got here."
_"Your progress is remarkable. You have absorbed considerable amounts of energy and have perfected your breathing technique. You are far above the average human physical performance."_
Ren couldn't help but smile at the comment. The AI had no sense of humor, but the accolades were not bad .He felt stronger, faster, and more prepared with each passing day.
Ren continued on his way. As he walked, he felt the air around him grow thicker, as if the level was collapsing. The walls seemed to writhe, and the sound of footsteps echoed in the distance. He couldn't tell if the entities were chasing him or if they were simply part of the chaos of this place.
Finally, he reached what appeared to be the end of the corridor. In front of him, an ominous crack in the wall.
_"I detect a slight anomaly. This could be an entrance to the next level."_
-Well, here we go" -he said, as he took a step toward the crack.
