Chapter 8: Welcome to Level 1
As Ren stepped through the rift, he felt an immediate change in the atmosphere. The atmosphere was less oppressive than the previous level, although it still retained the same sense of bewilderment. The sound of the fluorescent lights hummed more consistently, and the floor seemed more stable.
This new level, known as Level 1, was similar to an infinite warehouse. The walls were made of concrete and metal, and there were empty shelves everywhere. Ren looked around curiously. Level 1 seemed more organized than the previous ones, but also more desolate.
- "System, any useful information about this place?"
_"Backrooms Level 1: Also known as the 'Warehouse'. This level is more stable than Level 0, and may contain useful resources such as abandoned supplies. Entities here are less frequent, but stronger than on Level 0. I recommend continuing to explore with caution."_
Ren began to walk among the shelves, looking for more supplies. He knew that this level would offer him opportunities to regain strength, but also that he would have to be prepared to face new types of more powerful entities. His body was still getting stronger, but he felt the need to plan his movements more carefully.
As he went along, he found more signs of human activity: empty cans, crumpled papers and a small toolbox. Although not everything was useful, he decided to keep what he could use in the future.
- "Looks like I'm not the only one who's been through here," he muttered as he stowed a screwdriver and an extra piece of string in his dimensional space.
However, before he could check the area any further, he heard a heavy sound from behind one of the shelves. Something large was moving, its rhythmic breathing filling the air. Ren adjusted his stance, feeling the adrenaline begin to flow.
- "Whatever you are, get ready."
