The angels were utterly appalled by his reckless declaration that seemed to throw all caution to the wind, their expressions stricken with disbelief and incredulity. What in the name of God did they just hear? Was this still Kalliēl, the great seraphim who had once single-handedly expelled the rebels out of Heaven? Why, then, would he take the demon's side?

Had he— had he gone insane?!

"Y–You…!"

"What do you think you're doing?!" an angel demanded furiously. "Open your eyes and see! You're a holy seraphim, and the one behind you is a wicked demon! And yet you're still…!" they choked on their words, "You're protecting him instead of taking our side?!"

With a heavy tone, Kalliēl stated, "He's innocent."

To no one's surprise, the angels immediately rebuked him:

"Outrageous!"

"What's so innocent about a demon?! He chose to descend to Hell instead of embracing Heaven— that in itself is an unforgivable sin!"
