Chapter 528: The Yellow Robe Church

"The friendships of our fathers are not a license for you to speak freely. Moreover, mistakes should be paid for. This is a simple truth."

Hastur calmly led Xio to his seat and asked her to present the evidence she had prepared.

"Haha, does the soaring eagle forget the kindness of being fed before it leaves the nest?" Georgina Augustus's tone remained harsh.

"If you had seriously studied my life, you would know that my loathing for my nominal father far outweighs any respect."

Georgina Augustus was silent for a moment, then turned her gaze to Xio and rubbed her temples. "Mason Deal's daughter, what is your request tonight?"

"My father was so upright and kind. He must not be wrongfully executed for treason!" Xio's eyes reddened.

"I can restore your father's honor and return your family's title and land," Georgina Augustus nodded and continued, "Is there anything else?"

"The mastermind who framed my father must be punished."

"Death extinguishes all. This condition is difficult for me to agree to."

Xio took a deep breath and said, "I want to make the truth public and completely clear my father's name."

Hearing this, Georgina Augustus frowned slightly and instinctively looked at Hastur.

Mason Deal's case was simple. The mastermind who framed him for treason was George III, which was no secret within the royal family.

However, George III had already fallen. Revealing the truth would require the Ruen royal family to issue a decree of self-blame, significantly impacting their authority.

Moreover, George III's misdeeds were not limited to this one case. Every king had their share of dirty deeds; a clean-handed king did not exist.

"Miss Xio Deal, may I speak with you privately?"

Georgina Augustus realized that the key to resolving tonight's issue was Xio.

Xio hesitated but agreed to the request when she saw Hastur had no objections. About ten minutes later, they returned.

Xio seemed in good spirits but still somewhat dissatisfied, while Georgina Augustus appeared much more relaxed.

Hastur roughly understood their conversation. Georgina Augustus likely downplayed George III's errors, attributing them to poor judgment and lax oversight, and planned to scapegoat someone else to hide George III's disgraceful history from the public.

Although this solution did not fully satisfy Hastur, Xio had accepted it. Given her usual conduct, she would likely continue working in the Ruen Kingdom, so Hastur said nothing more.

With Hastur's issue resolved, Georgina Augustus naturally steered the meeting back on track. Hastur merely listened without commenting.

Meanwhile, the current heir to the title, Grek, had his prime minister uncle gradually supporting him as the family's spokesperson.

After the meeting, Georgina Augustus wanted to invite Hastur for a private conversation.

"I'm not as casual as my father."

Hastur replied indifferently and left the manor with Xio under her angry gaze.

Xio remained silent on the way, tightly clutching a small bag of evidence she had painstakingly collected.

No one looked at the so-called evidence. Even Georgina Augustus had no intention of taking it back.

This left Xio feeling both frustrated and oppressed.

After dropping Xio off at her street, she finally spoke before getting out of the car, "Do they think my efforts are laughable?"

She used the word "they," but Hastur knew he was included in that category.

"The result is good, isn't it?"

"..." Xio was silent for a while. "I will continue to strive."

Hastur smiled, "The royal family should compensate you with an estate. You can move in with Fors."

"Thank you, Mr. Hastur."

Xio bowed seriously and then got out of the carriage, lifting her skirt and hurrying upstairs, eager to share the good news with Fors.

...

On December 31, near Green Park Street in the West District, a new building finally appeared before passersby.

A few months ago, a mysterious buyer had spent a fortune to purchase a large piece of land here, fenced off the area, and gathered many construction workers to start building.

Passersby could only see the dusty scene from afar and couldn't discern what was being built.

Today, the fences were finally removed, revealing the building to the public.

It was a church-like structure, primarily yellow and black. The walls were yellow, and the pointed spires were black. The glass was not ordinary stained glass but dotted with star-like specks, as if fragments of stars were mixed into the glass.

Inside, the church was dark, like a night shrouded in darkness, illuminated by candles hanging on the walls, ceiling, and corridors.

These special candles emitted a soft blue light instead of the usual red or orange.

When all the candles were lit, the interior of the church resembled a starry sky.

In the central hall and prayer room stood a statue of the King in Yellow, with no specific face, just a tattered yellow robe outlining a vague shape. A book titled *The Book of Prophecy* floated before His chest.

The church had a courtyard, and deeper within was a natural forest with a circular lake at its center.

This was a significant consideration for the Yellow Robe Monks when choosing this location.

In a villa in the Queen's District, Hastur sat in his study, listening to Lady Lisa's detailed introduction of the Yellow Robe Church based on a blueprint.

After the introduction, Hastur asked, "Have the invitations for the founding ceremony been sent out?"

"Everything is in order. Rest assured, Lord Messenger." Lady Lisa paused and put away the blueprint. "I'm just worried that something unexpected might happen tonight."

"Isn't that a good thing?"

Hastur saw Lady Lisa's concern. "Or do you think the god you believe in can't handle the situation?"

Lady Lisa quickly denied having such thoughts. Hastur then asked if she was ready to become the Pope.

The Pope, the Sequence 1 of the Yellow Robe Monks' extraordinary path, was something even Lady Lisa couldn't be sure she could achieve.

"Perhaps a miracle will happen again."

"That's what we've always hoped for."

Lady Lisa took her leave, and Hastur stayed in the study for a while before heading out with Sharon and Azara.

As the New Year approached, Beckland was bustling once again.

At 160 Berklund Street, Klein, maintaining his rich man persona, finally awaited Mr. Azik, who had come from the distant northern ice fields.

They sat on the second-floor balcony, listening to Mr. Azik recount his travels.

From seal hunting in the northern ice fields to the current chaos in the Fusac Empire, Mr. Azik narrated his experiences in a calm and gentle tone.

Klein felt as if he were embarking on an adventure and journey through Mr. Azik's stories.

"I really want to go out and see the world," Klein sighed.

"You're progressing quickly. Perhaps it's time to take a break. If one only knows to keep moving forward, they will miss much of the scenery along the way."

"Mr. Azik, I understand your point, but I feel uneasy. Something unimaginable may happen in the future, and I dare not slack off."

After chatting for a while, their conversation naturally turned to the upcoming founding ceremony of the Yellow Robe Monks.

It would take place tonight at ten, under a starry sky.

"I don't know much about this organization. I only encountered them once during my travels in the Fusac Empire. Their stance is hard to define."

"Mr. Azik, do you know about the King in Yellow?"

"In my long historical memory, there is no information about this hidden existence. Perhaps He is an even older being."

Klein showed a hint of disappointment, then took an invitation from the drawer. The cover depicted the classic image of the King in Yellow's tattered robe.

"They invited me to attend tonight's founding ceremony." Klein handed the invitation to the interested Mr. Azik. "I'm still undecided about whether to go."

"If you're not convenient, I can go on your behalf."

"Mr. Azik seems quite interested?"

"I once met a lost soul in the distant northern ice fields. In him, I vaguely saw the image on your invitation."

Klein thought for a moment and smiled, "Then I'll accompany you, Mr. Azik."
