Chapter 310:Becoming a Dungeon Boss

Leonard and his companions chose to stay put, waiting for the approach of the Black Emperor.

Even if they had tried to sail away, there was no escaping a ship with such superior performance.

As the vessel drew closer, they saw a towering figure standing on the deck—king of the five sease, nast.

The Black Emperor loomed three or four meters higher than Leonard's ship. As the two vessels neared, nast gazed down at them from his elevated position.

Behind nast, a group of his crew members gathered. Some whistled cheerfully, while others leered openly at Ilya's attractive form and face.

There were even a couple of crew members with more peculiar tastes, their eyes fixed intently on Leonard.

Contrary to their expectations, no conflict erupted. Instead, a rope ladder was lowered from the Black Emperor, inviting Leonard and his companions to come aboard for a talk.

"Let's go."

Without much hesitation, Ilya led the way, with Leonard following close behind.

Once on deck, the crew who had been watching the show were quickly dispersed by nast, leaving only the third mate nearby.

nast's sharp eyes scanned the trio. "I hear you've captured quite a few pirates, hoping to force them to reveal my whereabouts?"

"That's right," Ilya admitted without hesitation.

nast chuckled, "You've got guts. Do you intend to challenge me openly on the seas?"

Ilya remained composed, "We just have a few questions for you."

"You lack reverence."

"I only owe reverence to the Goddess."

Despite being on the Black Emperor, Ilya's demeanor was steady and unyielding, showing no concern for her predicament.

"This is the domain of the Storm, not the kingdom of the everNight Goddess,."

"Night always falls."

"A devout follower of the everNight Goddess,, indeed," nast remarked, seemingly in admiration, but he quickly resumed a stern expression. "Faith on the sea is worth less than a penny. Even the smallest wave can make a louder noise than it."

"So, without your faith, you all become worthless."

Ilya's words were sharp as she calmly responded, "We came here with just three questions. Once answered, we'll leave. If you intend to detain us, remember, this is the domain of the Storm."

She wasn't a fool. Before setting sail, she had already made contact with the Church of the Storm. Being one of the three major churches of the Ruen Kingdom, they often assisted each other.

Coming to the sea without notifying the Church of the Storm was unthinkable.

nast laughed, a hint of pity in his eyes as he looked at the determined Ilya.

The Church of the Storm indeed held significant power on the seas, but that was in the past.

Now, the newly risen Uncrowned King of the seas frequently opposed the Church of the Storm, often targeting them and sometimes circling the Storm Abyss just to provoke them.

Unfortunately, he had a task to complete this time, or else he would have shown these followers of the Night Goddess the true ruthlessness of the sea.

Boom!

A loud explosion sent a spray of water into the air.

Leonard and the others instinctively looked toward the sound. Their ship had been sunk by a cannon shot.

Ilya's face turned cold, "Are you planning to compensate us with the Black Emperor?"

Want the Black Emperor?

Too bad, you're a step too late. This ship is already reserved by someone else.

nast thought with resignation but said aloud, "No rush. Meeting on the vast sea is a rare chance. I just want to chat a bit more."

"Before we chat, answer this: did you steal Sealed Artifact 008 from Ins Zangwill?"

nast was visibly surprised, "So, that's what you're here for. Yes, at the time, my study was in need of a fitting feather pen."

Ilya visibly relaxed, "If you don't want more trouble, return it to us."

"Heh, I took it from Ins Zangwill. It's no longer yours. And you expect to retrieve something stolen by a Pirate King? Isn't that a bit naïve?"

nast's lips curled in a mocking smile as he invited them to stay on the ship for a few days as guests.

"Alright."

 Ilya agreed immediately, surprising Leonard.

Were they planning to steal back the plunder right under the nose of a Pirate King?

---

In Puning Harbor,Hastur Wanted to invite Sharon for a weekend outing, but she stood motionless at the window, embodying her puppet role.

Sharon was like a lifeless doll, often standing still for days without blinking when at home.

Aisala loved to tease Sharon during these times, climbing onto her shoulder and gently tugging at her hair with tiny paws.

Initially, Sharon found this bothersome, but as she delved deeper into her puppet persona, she became indifferent to Aisala's antics.

No matter how much Aisala played around, Sharon remained a perfect, emotionless doll.

Hastur found Sharon's state fascinating and felt a strange kinship with the vampire who loved dolls.

A beautiful, intricate doll that doesn't speak, just silently accompanying you—is there a more perfect long-term companion?

ButHasturpreferred the lively, talkative Sharon over this silent version.

"Meow."

Aisala, now perched on Sharon's head, gave Hastura a smug look.

Sharon's tolerance in her puppet role was reserved for Aisala alone. WheneverHasturtried to tease her in this state, she would move away or speak up.

This led Hastur to to criticize her role-playing. How could she treat him and Aisala differently if she was playing a doll? She should be impartial!

Sharon looked at him as if he were an idiot, "I'm just playing a puppet. I'm not a real puppet, nor am I immobilized."

Hastur sighed. This was probably the most she had spoken to him in days.

With Sharon and Aisala preferring to stay in,Hasturdecided to use the time to think about how to handle Alfred.

After the last dinner at Alfred's place, Alfred had subtly hinted that he might stay in Southwell County.

Even without Audrey's involvement,Hasturwould honor the Earl of Hall's support with a ten-thousand-gold-pound sponsorship when he left Backlund. He planned to find Alfred a good position.

Post logistics was crucial and needed to be under his control. Going to the battlefield was too dangerous, and he couldn't always protect Alfred. Administrative management was the best option—safe with plenty of achievements.

With this in mind,Hastur Sat down to write a recommendation letter to the Duke of Southwell.

Formal appointments in Southwell County required the Duke's approval.

Once the letter was written,Hastur Kept it aside, waiting for the Earl of Hall to express his intentions before deciding Alfred's fate.

On the desk, Sealed Artifact 008, confined in its pen case, nudged Hastur's elbow.

It had been cooped up in the pen case for a long time and was desperate for freedom.

"Since you're behaving, I'll let you out for a bit today."

With a smile,Hastur Opened the pen case, and 008 sprang up, landing upright on a blank piece of paper.

"Master, I am always your most loyal pen," it scribbled eagerly, "Finally, I can express my grievances."

Hastur's tone was gentle, "I look forward to your future performance."

"You won't be disappointed, Master!"

Reinvigorated, 008 started writing quickly, "The troubles of the Red Glove squad have attracted a rescuer from Backlund, Klein, whom I don't particularly like. He arrived in Southwell County at 9:12 this morning."

"Accompanying him is an extraordinary known as the Sword of the Goddess,Crestet Cesimir . They aim to conceal their identities and quietly investigate Puning Harbor."

"Unfortunately, despite their caution, they couldn't escape my watchful eyes or deceive the great Master."

"They want to uncover the truth and rescue the trapped Red Glove members. But without the Master's permission, they can't even leave Puning Harbor as a mosquito."

"As the Master's most loyal pen, I'll keep a close eye on their every move, ensuring nothing disturbs the Master's peace!"

As 008 filled the page, Hastur's expression grew complex.

From 008's account and the recent events in Puning Harbor, it felt like they were setting up an adventure for the protagonist!

And himself,HasturCampbell, the Earl of Campbell, the Yellow Robed Monks' emissary, and the holder of 008, was the final boss of this adventure!

The moreHasturpondered, the more he believed things were heading in that direction.

A supernatural event occurs, someone gets trapped and calls for help, the rescue team arrives to investigate, unravels the mystery, confronts the final boss, and finally, escapes the dungeon.

How familiar the pattern seemed!
