Chapter 204: Audrey's Dream Adventure

As the evening approached, Audrey and Earl Hall only had dinner at the Violet Manor and did not plan to stay overnight.

Around eight o'clock in the evening, Audrey and Earl Hall took a carriage back to their suburban manor.

The journey from Violet Manor took about half an hour.

Hastur saw off Audrey and Earl Hall and, upon returning, saw Glaint squatting on the ground, stroking Hogg's head and whispering to him.

Hastur had observed the performance of Hogg and Glaint today. It wasn't Hogg's fault for not being effective; it was Glaint 's poor marksmanship. He aimed for a long time but couldn't hit the target.

In the end, it was Hogg who caught the silly roe deer by himself.

"Hastur, should I practice my marksmanship?"

"If you're interested, I can recommend a club to you."

Hastur then told Glaint about the club that Greck had introduced to him last time.

"Alright, I'll check it out sometime."

Hastur understood from this that Glaint wouldn't go.

"Hastur, do you think Hogg is smarter or is Susie more capable?"

"Susie," Hastur answered without hesitation.

"I think so too. I really don't know how Audrey trained Susie. Clearly, I'm the beast tamer, and Hogg, whom I trained myself, shouldn't lose to Susie," Glaint sighed in confusion.

Hastur thought for a moment and said, "Maybe you should look for reasons within yourself."

What he meant was that Glaint didn't have as much financial resources as Audrey, making it difficult to support an extraordinary creature.

Hogg could probably only advance to Sequence 8 at most, while Susie was already a Sequence 8 Mind Reader, a significant gap.

Moreover, Hogg didn't seem as smart as Susie.

"Indeed, I haven't done well enough. I'll work harder when I get back."

Glaint regained his fighting spirit, and Hastur could only wish him good luck.

...

Late at night, in a suburban manor, in a room where one could see a large ginkgo tree by opening the window.

Audrey was sleeping soundly in bed, and Susie's little nest was at the right end of the bed, where she was also resting.

Mist, invisible mist spread in the dream world.

Audrey felt like she had entered a misty forest, where she was all alone, and Susie, who was always with her, was nowhere to be seen.

The surrounding trees were different from what she usually saw. They had no leaves, only bare trunks.

The area suddenly lost its vitality, leaving only a scene close to death.

Audrey felt a bit panicked, but she also felt anticipation and excitement.

She had always longed for such an adventure before stepping into the extraordinary world.

Except for the magic mirror incident, which allowed her to meet Mr. Fool and join the Tarot Club, her world hadn't changed much.

Her daily life was still so ordinary and uninteresting.

Now, a mysterious and unknown journey was unfolding before her eyes. She was tempted but still couldn't help feeling fear in the face of the unknown.

She didn't stay in place but kept moving forward.

As she went deeper, the mist thickened, and the bare trees seemed to come to life.

The branches were like arms, waving chaotically. It was unclear whether they were cheering for Audrey's arrival or excited about the feast they were about to enjoy.

Audrey was initially a bit scared, but after observing for a while and seeing that they had no intention of harming her, she gradually let go of her worries and continued forward.

The main trunks, which initially didn't move, also began to twist like human bodies as the mist deepened.

They looked like tall, twisted giants, happily creating mist.

Whenever Audrey got close, they would return to their immobile state.

Audrey's eyes widened slightly. She really liked such scenes, which matched her fantasies of the extraordinary world.

Weird and mysterious.

She wondered if the mysterious being living in the depths of this misty forest was a witch with a vicious curse or a magical elf from myth and legend.

With a bit of anticipation, Audrey continued deeper, worried about encountering danger.

But now, she was conscious but couldn't wake up. It seemed her consciousness was pulled into the dream by some force and couldn't escape.

"If I really encounter danger, I can seek Mr. Fool's help."

With this thought, Audrey cautiously and expectantly moved deeper into the forest.

Apart from trees, she saw no moving creatures along the way.

She didn't see any terrifying witches or magical elves, only a mist-covered eerie forest.

This misty world seemed endless and boundless. No matter which direction Audrey chose, she couldn't encounter any special events.

This turned her initial anticipation into disappointment.

The only consolation was that this misty world couldn't harm her because it was her dream, only changed by some extraordinary power.

"I can only wait until tomorrow morning to wake up naturally."

Audrey sighed and chose another direction to continue.

...

It was dawn, and the sunlight had risen from the windowsill to the roof.

Susie had already woken up, gone for a walk outside, and returned, while Audrey was still asleep.

The personal maid initially didn't suspect anything, thinking Audrey was just tired from yesterday's hunting in the forest and needed more sleep today.

It wasn't until the sunset light dyed the ginkgo trees and the breeze gently knocked on the window that the maid noticed something unusual. She tried to wake Audrey, thinking it wasn't good for her health to sleep too long.

But no matter how loudly she called, Audrey, lying in bed, didn't open her eyes.

Susie was also anxious, pacing around the bed and barking non-stop.

Soon, this matter alarmed Earl Hall.

With his extensive knowledge, he quickly guessed that Audrey's abnormality might be related to yesterday's hunting in the forest.

Upon hearing that Audrey had encountered mist and briefly separated from others yesterday, he was almost certain that extraordinary factors were involved!

Earl Hall's face turned pale. He sent people to Beckland for help and notified Hastur.

Since he had arranged the hunting activity, he was responsible for solving this matter, whether he knew about it or not!

When Hastur and Glaint arrived at Earl Hall's manor, it was already near evening.

"You must give me an explanation for this!"

Faced with Earl Hall's near-ultimatum, Hastur felt heavy-hearted.

He observed Audrey's condition. She slept peacefully, with no physical issues. The only possible problem was in her mental world.

It could be an extraordinary power that kept her consciousness in eternal sleep, like a dream.

Yesterday, neither Hastur nor Earl Hall encountered mist, but Audrey did, and now she had a problem. It was clear that her abnormality was related to the mist!

"Earl Hall, I need Susie to take me to where Miss Audrey went yesterday."

"Okay."

Earl Hall, with a grim face, allowed Hastur to take Susie. Glaint wanted to go too but was stopped by Hastur.

Given the unclear situation, Hastur didn't want to take Glaint along, in case more problems arose.

At the forest entrance, Hastur set off alone with Susie.

"Susie, take me to where you encountered the mist yesterday. I know you're smart and understand what I mean."

"Woof!"

Susie started running, and Hastur followed, soon reaching the area where they had encountered the mist yesterday.

By now, it was completely dark, and the surroundings were dim.

But the mist didn't reappear, and this area was no different from other places.

Hastur and Susie searched the area but found nothing special.

"Woof..."

Susie's voice was low and sad, worried about Audrey's situation.

"Don't worry, I'll find a way to save her."

Hastur squatted down, gently patted Susie's head, and signaled her not to be too sad.

"Woof woof..."

Susie lay on the ground, ears drooping, feeling helpless.

She was just a dog, and this situation was beyond her ability to handle. She didn't know how to help Audrey.

"Susie, guard the area and notify me if anything happens," Hastur said and lay down.

"Woof?"

Susie looked at Hastur, who had closed his eyes, in confusion but chose to trust him.

She had a feeling that Hastur was extraordinary.

Maybe he could really help Audrey.

Susie perked up and started patrolling the area, ensuring nothing disturbed Hastur.
