Chapter 119: The High-Dimensional Observer Knows How to Play

Is this possible?

Hastur looked over several times carefully, and indeed, the figure was Chief Reed. The surrounding environment was also the same as what he had seen at Chief Reed's house that day.

The high-dimensional observer had somehow occupied the body of Chief Reed's son.

The newborn baby boy, now lying quietly in bed, was enjoying the tender care from his parents.

Who would have thought that within that incredibly frail body, the power of a high-dimensional observer existed!

If this wasn't a reincarnation of a part of the high-dimensional observer's consciousness, then it must be the son of a god, possessing some of his power!

What made Hastur curious was, if the child was born of the high-dimensional observer, shouldn't all the ordinary people around him have perished at birth? At the very least, they would have been contaminated. How could there be no effect at all?

Looking at him lying quietly in the crib, he seemed like a very ordinary baby, with nothing strange about him.

Chief Reed and his wife also seemed unaffected, everything was normal.

Could it be related to the special authority possessed by the high-dimensional observer? The high-dimensional observer had not been stripped of his essence, nor had the extraordinary pathways been torn apart. It was difficult to guess what kind of authority he possessed.

One could only speculate about the range of his authority based on his title.

After much thought, Hastur came up with a feasible method: to extract the relevant information from the mouth of the Lamp God.

Given his character, having roamed the starry sky for so many years, he must have understood the abilities of the high-dimensional observer.

But how to inquire without arousing the Lamp God's suspicion?

To send the projection of the baby directly to the Lamp God and then casually mention it's interesting? But that would be too deliberate, hard to deceive the Lamp God, and might even make him suspicious.

"Perhaps I could ask Will; with his extensive knowledge, he might actually know something."

"Even though it's Will, I should be careful with my words to avoid exposing the existence of the Hall of Stars."

Hastur pondered for a long time and still felt it was more reliable to ask Will first.

If that didn't work, he could observe for a few days. If the baby remained normal, he could wait until the day of the star gathering and then bring it up as if it were nothing.

Leaving the Hall of Stars, Hastur stood up and went to the study. He took a paper crane from the wind chime at the window and wrote on it: Come quickly.

After writing, he hung the paper crane back on the wind chime and then went back to his bedroom to sleep.

About fifteen minutes later, a dream came.

Will, lying in bed, sat up straight, pulled the blanket over his waist, and said with a displeased face, "Although I'm no longer a child, the necessary sleep can still help me grow faster."

"An unexpected event has occurred."

"What happened?"

Will's expression also became serious. He knew something significant must have happened, or Hastur wouldn't have summoned him in the middle of the night… asking for his help.

After all, it had been less than an hour since their last conversation.

"Do you know anything about the high-dimensional observer?"

"I've only heard the name of this Outer God; I don't know anything else."

Hastur was troubled but still asked, "Can you guess what kind of authority he might have?"

"Such things, of course… I cannot." Will ultimately admitted his ignorance honestly.

"Sigh…"

Hastur sighed lightly, causing Will to grunt in dissatisfaction, "In the current situation, who dares to run into the starry sky? It's normal not to understand them. Moreover, this high-dimensional observer hasn't actively invaded, and even the records of his existence are scarce."

"Then who knows more about him?"

"Besides the current seven major deities, only the Seven Pure Lights of the Spirit Realm. These seven beings are relatively benign and very knowledgeable about the Outer Gods of the old days in the starry sky. They should know about the high-dimensional observer."

"It's a bit troublesome."

Hastur still sighed, and Will couldn't help but ask, "What exactly happened that worries you so much?"

"Today, Chief Reed's son was born, and he wanted me to name his child. I didn't have a good idea at the moment, so I tried to glimpse the baby's fate."

Hastur chose his words carefully to avoid appearing too special.

"…"

Will blinked and said softly, "And then you received a revelation about the high-dimensional observer?"

"Yes."

Will rolled his eyes and said with a pout, "Then why haven't you died yet?"

"I am rather favored by fate."

"Are you sure you want to discuss fate with a mercury serpent?"

"…"

Hastur didn't speak, letting Will use his imagination.

"You're only Sequence 7! How dare you risk death by prying into the existence of an Outer God!"

Will was shocked. Even at his strongest, he would only dare to peek at the little secrets of deities.

Outer Gods were a terrifying existence he avoided at all costs! If he dared to spy, he would definitely be contaminated, and there was a high chance he would die on the spot.

Hastur corrected, "I just accidentally received a trivial revelation while glimpsing the baby's fate."

Will looked at him as if he were a fool, "Do you think there's a difference?"

"Of course, one is an active offense, and the other is a passive accident."

"No matter how accidental, it's still an Outer God!"

Will raised his voice quite a bit, not wanting to argue with Hastur about this issue anymore, and thought for a moment, "What do you plan to do?"

"I'm undecided, that's why I came to discuss with you."

"Don't drag me into this; I don't want to get involved in this trouble!"

"Hmm, let me think."

Hastur never intended to involve Will in this matter; he just wanted to learn about the high-dimensional observer from him.

Unfortunately, Will was also unclear.

After a while, Will said softly, "Let it develop naturally. Stay away from it, don't get involved, or people will die."

"Don't worry, I cherish my life and won't take risks lightly."

"That's good." Will nodded and reminded, "You better not talk about tonight's events with anyone else, or you'll bring trouble upon yourself."

"Understood."

Seeing that Hastur had his own ideas, Will didn't say anything more and waved his little hand before leaving the dream.

With Will's warning and his own idea to continue observing, Hastur decided not to meddle with the matter for the time being and to keep his distance.

As for naming the baby… Peeping Tom?

That name should be quite fitting, right? Hastur lay in bed thinking for a long time until he fell asleep late at night.

The next day, he instructed the butler Nigen that he would be going out for a while and not staying at home. If anyone came looking for him, he should politely decline on his behalf.

After arranging these matters, he took a carriage to Greleck's villa.

The security forces there were strong, and people like Chief Reed could not possibly approach, thus avoiding any potential contact between them.

Moreover, Greleck was to introduce him to the Prime Minister, so staying at Greleck's place for a while was a good choice.

Graleck was clearly happy to see him, and they drank a lot that night.

Fortunately, Hastur came prepared, having taken a sobering pill developed by Grelint in advance, and with the physique of a barbarian, he took all the drinks Greleck poured without issue.

In the end, it was Greleck who couldn't handle it and raised the white flag.

Late at night, Hastur entered the Hall of Stars again in his dream.

The other stars were as quiet as usual, but the star of the high-dimensional observer kept Hastur's constant attention, trying to find out the range of his authority.

It was already late at night, and the scene showed Chief Reed sleeping on a single sofa next to the baby's crib, his wife sleeping in bed, and the little baby lying quietly in the crib.

As the two slept, the baby, who had been sucking on his fingers and drooling, turned over and stood up straight from the bed! He had not been born for more than three days!

This scene gave Hastur the feeling of watching a horror movie.

The baby's body, initially wobbly, gradually became adept until he stood firm.

He walked to the edge of the bed, stretched his short legs out over the edge, grabbed the handrail, and gently swung his little feet.

He seemed to be in a good mood.

While swinging his little feet, he tilted his head and stared at his parents.

It seemed he was contemplating how to treat them.

In the darkness, the baby's eyes appeared particularly terrifying.

When Hastur saw this, he thought the high-dimensional observer was about to kill his own parents, making himself an orphan shortly after birth.

But the little baby just stared and showed no desire to act.

After a while, Chief Reed's wife's body shook slightly, and she stretched out an arm, half-asleep and half-awake, reaching towards the crib, habitually wanting to touch and check on the baby.

The little baby stood up, wobbled to the crib, and then climbed up with his short legs.

A second before Chief Reed's wife woke up, he appeared under her arm, allowing her hand to touch him.

And a loud cry of the baby's loud cry woke Chief Reed and his wife. They hurriedly got up—one changing the diaper under the baby's bottom, the other gently patting the baby, trying to soothe him back to sleep.

This heartwarming scene left Hastur speechless.

It seemed that the high-dimensional observer knew how to play indeed.
