Kapitel 212: Do You Have Any Objections?

The Tesseract?

Upon hearing Bakshi's response, Russell furrowed his brows slightly.

It wasn't surprising that Hydra wanted the Tesseract. However, if Hydra wanted the Tesseract, there was no need for them to resort to force.

Pierce had been the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Nick Fury had become the current director under his recommendation. Although Pierce was no longer the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he was now Nick Fury's superior and the Minister of the World Security Council.

If he wanted the Tesseract, he could easily obtain it through legitimate means rather than resorting to a reckless act like this.

Seeing the confusion on Russell's face, Bakshi mistakenly believed that Russell didn't know what the Tesseract was, and he quickly explained what it was.

Clearly, Russell's confusion had led Bakshi to think that he was unaware of the Tesseract.

"The Tesseract is an extraterrestrial object that our former leader, the Red Skull, found in Norway. After our defeat in the war, the Tesseract fell into the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D."

"We just want to reclaim what originally belonged to us," Bakshi quickly explained.

"Just because you want to reclaim the Tesseract, you sent someone to my residence at the Sky Apartments without permission?" Russell looked up at Bakshi and said coldly.

"Sending the Winter Soldier was Minister Pierce's decision, and it has nothing to do with us."

"I even advised Minister Pierce not to do it, but he didn't listen to my advice."

Bakshi started to shift the blame.

On the surface, it did seem unlikely that Pierce would take Bakshi's advice seriously. Although Bucky was a mid-level member of Hydra, Pierce was one of Hydra's leaders. To make Pierce listen to advice, at least another leader like Whitehall would need to intervene.

However, Russell didn't believe Bakshi's explanation. While he had never interacted with Pierce directly, it was inconceivable that Pierce would make such a reckless decision.

Sending someone to the Sky Apartments without permission, and sending the Winter Soldier, Bucky, no less. Pierce couldn't possibly be unaware of the implications.

"Since you claim that this was the decision of Pierce and Whitehall, then let them come here in person."

"If you want me to help you, you'll have to show some sincerity!" Russell's tone softened considerably from the previous ice-cold demeanor.

Although he was surprised by the request to meet with Pierce and Whitehall, he was relieved to see Russell finally agree.

"I can contact our leaders, but I can't decide whether Minister Pierce will come or not," Bakshi quickly replied.

"Contact them first," Russell said slowly.

"Alright!"

Bakshi took out his phone and began to contact Whitehall. Although he was a mid-level member of Hydra, he didn't have a direct line to Pierce. He could only contact his immediate superior, Whitehall.

After communicating with Whitehall for a few minutes in front of Russell, Bakshi hung up the phone and told Russell, "The leader is willing to come over, but whether or not Minister Pierce will come is uncertain."

"Good!" Russell nodded and said calmly.

He had expected to wait for at least an hour before meeting with Whitehall or Pierce, but it turned out that they had more time available than he had imagined.

In just over half an hour, Whitehall and Pierce arrived in the study.

Both of them were dressed in impeccable suits, their hair meticulously groomed, and they exuded an air of authority from head to toe.

Upon entering the study, they first looked at Baskhi, who was standing next to the severed mechanical arm, and wore an expression of displeasure.

Whitehall and Pierce were not unfamiliar with Russell, but this was the first time they had seen him in person.

Previously, they had only seen Russell in surveillance footage.

Russell didn't pay much attention to Whitehall and Pierce scrutinizing him. While they were assessing him, he also began to assess them.

More precisely, his gaze swept over their necks.

Just as Bakshi tried to approach to ease the somewhat strange atmosphere, something unexpected happened.

Russell's eyes shone with a red light, and two laser-like red heat beams instantly formed.

With a slight twist of his neck, the laser-like heat beams swept across the necks of both Whitehall and Pierce.

The appearance of the heat beams was sudden, and their end was just as abrupt.

Not only did Bakshi fail to react, but even Whitehall and Pierce, who were standing in front of Russell, didn't react in time.

They not only failed to react to the heat beams just now, but they would never have a chance to react again.

The heat beams, as thin as a finger, cut their necks like laser knives in an instant.

Whitehall and Pierce's bodies simultaneously fell backward, hitting the ground with a thud as their heads rolled to the floor, their bodies separated.

Even Bakshi, who was standing next to Russell, wore a shocked expression as he looked at the lifeless bodies of Whitehall and Pierce.

This... the leaders and Pierce had just died like this?

Bakshi could hardly believe his eyes, and even Bucky, who was now sitting on the floor, stared in shock at the bodies of Whitehall and Pierce.

After casually dispatching Whitehall and Pierce, Russell turned to Bakshi and said, "Since this was a joint decision between them, I thought they should pay a little price. Do you have any objections?"

"No objections, absolutely no objections!" Bakshi looked up at Russell, his voice unwavering.

"No objections are good. Please, have a seat. Now we can discuss what comes next," Russell said, pointing to the nearby sofa and addressing Bakshi.

Bakshi nodded and sat on the sofa across from Russell.

Once Bakshi had taken his seat, Russell picked up a bottle of whiskey from the table and poured himself and Bakshi a drink.

"With Whitehall and Pierce gone, it means their positions are now vacant."

"I don't know many members of Hydra personally, but you happen to be the one I've dealt with the most."

"Their positions are yours," Russell said calmly, as if he were already the master of Hydra.

"Sir, are you serious?" Bakshi asked in disbelief.

"Do I look like I'm joking right now?" Russell retorted.
