In the previous chapter our heroes decided to cross the Viridian Forest, unfortunately they were lost by a road that had been rebuilt, but their luck led them to meet Tomás, a trainer from Unnova who challenged them to a fight, of course Ash and Pikachu showed great strength and rapport and won the fight, and so and thanks to the help of Tomás our hero managed to leave the forest but not before meeting Team Rocket, luckily, they failed in their attempt to steal Pikachu and the other Pokémon.
With Ash.
We had already arrived in Pewter City, actually it did not take long to arrive, it turns out that the incident with Team Rocket happened only 15 minutes before the arrival at our destination, so after a rather unpredictable adventure in the Viridian Forest we finally arrived in Pewter City, cradle of the first Pokémon gym.
That said, it was about 5pm, it wasn't too late and we weren't too tired either, we still had a snack at a bar in the area.
I must say that unlike the game, Pewter City was quite large, nothing compared to the video game, rather to the anime, even bigger I would say, it was also a City the sea of animated with numerous people and Pokémon in the place, either fighting, walking or drinking something, the fact is that it is a very lively City.
"Well, what do we do, do we challenge Brock today or wait until tomorrow and see the museum in the meantime? I've heard it's pretty pretty," I said as I ate my salad.
"It's only 6 p.m. and gyms are always open until 8, it's better to do it today," Nancy replied.
"Okay, but you only have one Pokémon, why don't you catch one more before facing Brock?" – I asked curiously.
"I wasn't interested in any of the ones I saw, they just don't call me, I don't know if I explain myself," Nancy explained.
"I see, I get it, the problem is I don't think Brock has just one Pokémon," I said.
Specifically it has 2, according to the anime, a Geodude and an Onyx, at least according to the original anime, but of course, there was only Kanto back then, I can't be sure that his Pokémon have changed and he has a Carkoal or something.
After finishing our snack, we headed straight to the Gym, blessed Rotom Dex, seriously.
The Gym was just like the anime, only that, in real life, I must change my mentality because sometimes I think that this is still an anime and no, now this is my reality.
When we entered the first thing we saw was a counter, behind it was a man with short hair, black, with glasses and football referee clothes only this was blue.
"Oh, new people, are you challengers?" – the referee immediately asked.
"So much is it noticeable?" – I asked curiously.
"Quite a lot, but don't stay there, come and wait here, I'll go and warn Brock, you're actually lucky, normally at this time nobody comes and we usually close the Gym, today, for example, nobody came, but can you believe it? Yesterday three challengers came, thank goodness poor Brock has like 3 teams for cases like these" – explained the man.
"Wow, he's talkative," Nancy whispered to me.
I could only smile sarcastically at this.
It didn't take long for the man to leave and within a couple of minutes he appeared with Brock, just like in the anime, unchanged.
"So you two are today's challengers?" – he said looking at us both.
"Yes, I'm Ash from Palette Town and this is my partner and best friend, Pikachu" – I introduced myself.
"And I am Nancy and I come from Unnova" – Nancy introduced herself.
"Wow, another one from Palet Town and one from Unnova, yes we have good specimens today!" – Brock said with a smile.
Then Brock guided us to the battlefield, it was basically the same as the anime, a brown terrain with the symbol of a Pokéball in the center.
"Excuse me, are you going to use Pokémon from other regions or only from Kanto? It's more of mere curiosity," I asked curiously.
"Good question, to tell you the truth, the Indigo League committee only allows us to use Pokémon native to the Kanto region, the same goes for the rest of the regions, don't ask me why, but it's like that," Brock replied.
"Good" – I nodded.
"Well, which of you will fight today?" asked Brock.
"Today, can't we fight both? The gentleman over there said you had 3 teams" – Nancy said.
"I don't want to be lazy or anything, but my work schedule ends in about 40 minutes, I just follow the rules, I hope you'll forgive me for that," Brock explained.
So that's how we found out that gyms closed at 7 and not 8 as Nancy said.
"Oh, it's okay, we'll throw it with rock, paper, scissors and whoever wins will fight today, what do you think?" – I asked Nancy.
"That seems fair to me!" – Nancy nodded.
In short, it was my victory.
"Why do I always have to lose?" – Nancy asked angrily.
"Don't worry, you'll just have to wait less than a day" – I tried to comfort her.
"Well, having said that, let's fight," Brock said.
Then we both stood in front of each other, with several meters of distance between us.
"I will be the referee of this gym match, the rules are simple, it is a 2 vs 2, the first one that weakens both Pokémon, win, they can start!" – explained the referee.
"Go ahead, Geodude!" said Brock throwing his Pokéball.
And out of it came a Geodude that looked pretty sturdy.
"Then it's time for us to prove ourselves, come on Phione, it's your turn!" – I said throwing my Pokéball.
And my little Phione came out of it, by the way, apparently she can float to fight out of the water, eye, she does not fly, she just floats slightly.
"A Phione, what an interesting Pokémon!" exclaimed Brock.
"And not only that, we are also strong, Phione, use Water Gun!" – I ordered.
"Phi!" said Phione, throwing a jet of water.
"That won't work, it's very predictable, dodge it, Geodude!" – ordered Brock.
But that was just what I expected.
"Acid Armor, take advantage while he is dodging it!" – I said.
Phione nodded and used the attack, it was as if he had disappeared for a split second, but instantly reappeared with slightly brighter skin.
"So you took advantage of the time it took to dodge?" said Brock.
"Geodude is very slow and that slows you down, Water gun again!" – I ordered.
And a jet of water headed towards Geodude.
"Geodude, use Rollout!" – said Brock.
And Geodude started rolling, so the speed it carried made the Water Gun almost ineffective, logic of the anime.
"Dodge it!" – I said.
But Phione couldn't react in time and was rammed by Geodude.
"Are you okay?" – I asked worriedly.
"¡Phi!" – asintió Phione.
"Well, let's turn the tables, Water Gun!" – I said.
"That didn't work before! What makes you think it will work now? Let's go Geodude!" – exclaimed Brock.
But the Water Gun was not aimed at Geodude, but at the ground, that's right, the field was Earth, and what happens when you make Earth water?
The Water Gun caused all the land around Phione to turn to mud, so when Geodude stepped on it he got stuck in it and lost his Rollout.
"Impossible!" cried Brock incredulously.
"It's not, terminal, Water Gun!" – I said.
Phione immediately threw a Water Gun that hit Geodude head-on, take the x4! Although I don't know if it really applies in this case.
The fact is that Geodude fell to the ground weakened.
"Geodude can't continue, Phione wins!" – announced the referee.
"You did it right Geodude" – Brock said returning Geodude to his Pokéball.
Then he looked at me and smiled.
"I must admit that you are good, but this is not final, get ready for the main course, Onyx, your turn!" – said Brock throwing his Pokéball.
From it came a huge Onyx, fuck is more intimidating in person.
"Onyx is my faithful companion, let's see what you can do to knock him down," Brock said.
"NIIIIXXXX!" – roared the Onyx.
"We won't cower, come on Phione, Water Gun!" – I said.
Phione listened to me and threw a Water Gun directly at the Onyx.
"Hmph, Dodge it" – ordenó Brock.
And surprisingly, Onyx dodged the Water Gun.
"¡Usa Rock Throw!" – dijo Brock.
Onyx hit the ground with his tail and numerous stones shot out towards Phione.
"Try to dodge and use Water Gun to break the rocks!" – I ordered.
Phione tried, but, although she dodged several, many of them hit her causing her to be sent flying.
"Phione!" – I shouted in fright.
But surprisingly, Phione got up.
"I see, so, until the end, then let's prove that we can with this, get closer to him!" – I ordered.
Phione shot out towards Onyx.
"Use Iron Tail, don't let it get close!" said Brock.
But it was too late, Onyx was much slower than Phione and did not give him time to charge his attack.
"Supersonic!" – I said.
And invisible waves came out of Phione's body causing Onyx to become confused and start acting weird.
"Onyx!" said Brock.
"Seize the opportunity, Water Gun!" – I said.
And a well-loaded Water Gun hit Onyx causing him to back off.
"Don't be intimidated, use Iron Tail and finish it off!" – ordered Brock.
Onyx loaded the Iron Tail but was confused and did not hit, but gave himself and fell on his back.
"Take advantage and finish with him, Water Gun!" – I ordered.
The Water Gun hit Onyx again who seemed to have weakened, but...
"Iron Tail!" – ordered Brock.
And the Irontail hit Phione squarely causing it to fly.
Phione tried to get up and could only stand up of her own free will, obviously I wanted to change her to Pikachu, but she looked at me with a "I can do it" face, so I trusted her.
"Let's get this over then, show them all your power, Water Gun at full power!" – I roared.
"Dragonbreath!" – Brock ordered.
A jet of blue water and a dark blue lightning bolt impacted and exploded.
This caused a shock wave and a smoke screen, luckily I closed my eyes and was able to hold myself, although I almost fell.
When the smoke screen dissipated, Phione and Onyx could be seen standing, it seemed that neither wanted to give in, both wanted victory, which left everyone breathless and unable to give any orders, but in the end, both fell weakened.
"Onyx and Phione can't keep fighting, the aspiring Ash is the winner!" – exclaimed the referee.
"We did it!" – I said joyfully as I picked up my sweet Phione from the ground.
"Pika pii!" – Pikachu said to Phione with joy.
Which, by the way, was on my shoulder.
"You made it great Phione!" – I said hugging her.
"Phi" – Phione said faintly.
"You deserve a break, don't worry, I'll take you to the Pokémon Center as soon as I get the medal" – I said sending it to his Pokéball.
Just then I saw Nancy pounce on me giving me a hug.
"Congratulations on your victory!" – he exclaimed happily.
"Thank you" – I nodded as I hugged her back.
Only after a few seconds did we both hear a cough that forced us apart while Nancy blushed.
"Ehem, I'm sorry to interrupt your love moment, but I wanted to congratulate you on winning your first gym medal, the rock medal," Brock said as he handed me the rock medal.
God I can't contain myself, I have to.
"Pikachu, we did it we won the rock medal!" – I said with a smile as I high-fived Pikachu.
I couldn't resist sorry, when I saw him in the anime I always wanted to do it, by the way, when I looked at Nancy I could only see how her blush increased after Brock said those words.
"Hahaha, I'm happy for you, with this one, you only have 7 more medals left to participate in the Indigo League, by the way, I wish you luck for tomorrow's challenge miss, I will not leave it easy for you" – Brock said turning to Nancy.
"Ha, I don't need to, I'll beat you with all the law!" – Nancy exclaimed.
After a small talk, we went from the gym to the Pokémon Center and as we did in Viridian City, we healed our Pokémon, we had dinner and went to sleep, yes, in the same room, I think my relationship progresses properly seen what I saw, although obviously I still had to change outside while waiting for Nancy to change, But hey, I'll settle for now.
