Kapitel 29: Chapter 29: You’re Different

Brenna POV

I didn’t move. Maybe if I keep quiet, whoever’s knocking will take the hint and leave.

My lungs burned as I held my breath, doing my best not to make a sound, but the gentle raps on the door continued.

The possibility of it being Kieran kept me from moving. I wasn’t ready to face him yet, or ever, if I could avoid it.

Another possibility was Viv. She had always been so sweet to me, and part of me wanted to open the door for her sake.

As I weighed my options, a soft voice spoke from the other side of the door.

“Brenna. Are you awake?” Followed by another few gentle knocks.

I was ready to turn away Kieran if it had been him. Even Viv if I kept the door closed, but I couldn’t turn my current guest away.

“You alone?” My voice rasped out. It was the first words I had spoken since the night before. I finally realized just how parched I was.
