I can understand why some don't like this book as David is afraid of his powers and learned the DC way of putting villains behind bars. But these arguments loose their ground as you continue through the story. The character development in this book is like none I have ever seen and probably will see. It just sad that such a story was dropped on empty promises that it is just a small break and that he already wrote the next chapters. I'm grad I read this book after having it in my library for so long and I would beg the author to continue if he didn't already start new books and dropped them even faster. The chances are less than 0 but a man can hope and dream the ending himself.

Just the typical corn fic. Great in the beginning 50 chapters but gets mediocre towards the middle then will eventually be dropped or a lackluster ending

It's a decent story, my only problem with it is how MC's(Black Bolt's) powers are treated. For the first couple dozen chapters, they're viewed with nothing but fear. It's understandable considering what happened when they awakened, but it is very disappointing to have a character be given these powers and never use them even when in danger of dying. He fights Deathstroke and loses badly all because he can't use his powers. The reasoning is solid, a single whisper could destroy a city and kill millions, but that's part of the problem. He's ALWAYS going to have a legitimate reason not to use his powers. When a scream from him can destroy entire countries, according to Batman's calculations, and his powers are only going to grow STRONGER as he ages into adulthood... When could he possibly have the chance to use them? He's been far more focused on training to control NOT making sounds than he has with controlling the sounds he does make. As his powers get stronger, his control is only going to be more difficult. So this isn't Black Bolt, this is a teenage mute Batman with the powers of Captain America.

My first cornbringer fanfic and I must admit, I see where the hype comes from. Unfortunately have now caught up with released ch so I guess I’ll go check out some of his other workers to see if he can consistently get out this level of quality writing while the chapter stack a bit.

Standard dc fanfic, the mc is a grown man with the mental faculties of a autistic puppy, the love interest is raven, yes the same love interest of every other dc fanfic out there so get ready for having to read about the overused and boring child with daddy issues and the personality of a brick while the mc whines and moanes about how unfair the world is, while guarding his virginity like a Japanese beta male protagonist

Injustice arc ruined everything the whole story was leading up to, ravens and Mc relation-ship, everything batman and him and deathstroke planned for, all because the author decided to force the plot to advance because he been repeating the same thing over and over and over, and then proceeded to become the thing that set this fanfic apart from all the others on thos god forsaken app

Story was really great, had so much potential. AND THEN THE INJUSTICE ARC HAPPENED and everything went so far down hill he had to start digging. He utterly destroyed the character he had been establishing, never developed the romance satisfactorily and destroyed any chance he had for further story development by making his character so strong and angry for no reason. It sucks to see man, David was so compelling, so determined. I was rooting for him then everything got ruined at the start of the injustice arc. If he kept it proper and didn’t ruin David this would’ve been a 4 or a 4.5

The introduction of the main character's powers is a masterstroke, with clear limitations that add depth and complexity to the story. Living with these powers as a burden not only adds layers to the protagonist's character but also fosters a deep sense of sympathy from the reader. One of the standout features of the fic is the dynamic relationships the main character forms with other characters, which are explored through shifting points of view. These friendships not only enhance the story but also provide avenues for further investment from the audience. Even side characters like Robin and Raven receive meaningful development, adding richness to the overall narrative. But it's the incredible character development of the main character that steals the show. As the story progresses, readers can feel the emotional growth of the protagonist, who undergoes significant changes that feel natural and compelling. The slow pace of scenes allows for dramatic build-ups that culminate in breathtaking battles and poignant emotional moments. However, the introduction of nearly omniscient characters from the DC Universe, while canon, detracts from the story's ability to maintain tension. Their constant 4th wall breakings and alignment with the main character diminish the suspense of whether the protagonist will overcome their enemies. Furthermore, the arc set in an alternative universe takes a misstep, as it thrusts the protagonist into a realm of excessive power without sufficient buildup. This departure from the established world-building and emotional development of the previous setting results in a character who feels edgy and uninteresting, detracting from the overall quality of the story.

Can be slow at time particularly chapters 150-200. But the story is great and has good character development. There are appearances of characters rarely used and they are used by the author well.

Overall, it was very frustrating. You give a guy an OP powerset and then feed him power piece meal. That along with thier being NOTHING else to this novel then fighting bad guys leaves alot of emptiness in the plot area. Then this is written like a mystery novel or should have been if you wanted to write a Dark Kinght style fanfic. But there is no real mystery. No, who done it. Last but not least, why are you modeling someone who is supposed to be as strong as Superman off batman. Makes no sense. I came for someone with the powers of Black Bolt, but what i got was a batman knock-off.

This was one of my favourite fan-fics until he got dragged into another universe simply because the author felt the need to include injustice somehow. It made the MC ridiculously powerful and ruined the character he'd been building up along with his friendship with Raven

The main character is legitimately the worst apart of the book. Take all the frustrations you auve with regular superheroes, add a good dash of constant moping and self doubt, and you'd have him. Also, it's dropped, so that's an even lower rating. At least the DC world is accurate enough.

Dear cornbringer, I hope this review finds you well. I am currently in a agonizing state as you have not yet updated this great work, thus I worry not only for your condition. But I worry more for the possibility that you have decided to abandon your story. I hope in earnest for a reply. Sincerely, The Second

The main character is legitimately the worst apart of the book. Take all the frustrations you auve with regular superheroes, add a good dash of constant moping and self doubt, and you'd have him. Also, it's dropped, so that's an even lower rating. At least the DC world is accurate enough.
