__________

Winter vacation passed in a second and Charlus found himself at Beaxbatons. He was excited to see his friends like last time. Charlus changed over the past 7 months. He no longer had extreme expressions on his face, only a hint of a smile. He grew a couple of inches. He was now 5' 2''. When he saw his friends, the only person who was taller than him was Fleur.

"Wow."

Fleur was surprised that Charlus had grown tall. The last time she saw him, she was three inches taller than him. Now, she was only one inch taller.

They hung out for a while and finally decided to go to the ground to ready their horses. They needed to prepare themselves for their first Polo competition. They rode on their horses for an hour before they got bored and went back to their room.

_____

Classes started and all the professors had to bear with a student who wouldn't bother to listen to their classes. They couldn't do anything about it though. Charlus knew this, and he purposely exploited it to spite his professors.

He only paid a little attention in duelling class. He didn't care much about it though. The stuff taught to him in those classes were not helpful to him anymore. Instead of focusing on the classes, he chose to focus on developing his occlumency.

His control over his Phoenix powers had hit a bottleneck a few months ago. Charlus found from Nicholas that he would be able to perfect his control once he learnt how to transform into his Phoenix form. He also knew that occlumency would quicken the process. Hence he set his priorities and ignored his professors.

________

Polo started in the first week of February. Henri was made the captain and he was crushing it. There were around 15 teams in their bracket and Henri was sweeping through them. Charlus' aim was off a lot of the times but Henri could reach the ball and put it into the goal post. Everyone was impressed by Henri's talent and he was starting to get some fame in the Polo club. While Polo never reached the status that Quidditch has in Hogwarts, it was considered fairly popular. When Henri got his team to the top, he got a lot of fans.

The tournament was pretty quick with two matches every day. It took half a month for the final four to get selected. Charlus' team was third in them. They had to go against the second place. Every team had already played with every other team twice. Charlus had played against the second place twice and won once and lost once.

The match was very close. The four chukkas weren't enough and the match went to overtime. Henri was too far off into the pitch and Charlus' pass went to Lucas instead. Lucas shot blindly and the goal went into the post. It was a pure fluke but it still counted. They went to the finals with that.

In the finals, they faced a group of sixth years. The match was far more difficult. The sixth years got a lead early on and Charlus' team struggled to get back into the match. They did though. But their horses were too exhausted with their desperate efforts and their opponents scored quite easily towards the end, winning the match. Charlus and his friends weren't disappointed though. They were fine with second place.

_____________________

The duelling tournament took place at the same time as the previous year. Charlus had finished his exams similar to the previous year with a hundred on everything. After that, he went to the tournament to see if he could win this time.

Since Charlus finished in the final four, not only was he seeded fourth, he was also exempted from the minimum tournaments he needed to attend to stay in the club. He only needed to keep his position this time to continue doing that.

When he got to the Club, he had to wait for his match. He got bored quickly so he decided to closely observe his opponents. One thing he had learnt over the past 2 years was that if he concentrated hard enough, he could vaguely compare the amount of magic in different people.

Everyone in the Club that was in his age group had around half his magic. He wasn't surprised though. He understood how strong he was after spending a lot of time at the Flamel Manor. He was very confident compared to the previous time he had come here. Last time he didn't know anything about duelling. He felt that the time he spent at the Flamel Manor would remedy that.

He was able to sweep through the duelling tournament. The person who had won the previous tournament no longer came under the same age group as Charlus, as did the person who came second and third. So the only competition that he faced was a sixth-year named Garfield. He faced that person in the finals and had to put some effort into defeating him. Seeing that he was able to beat everyone in his age group made Charlus very happy.
